Garchomp boss battle?

No matter how many times I defeat the Meteor boss' Garchomp, it still proceeds as if I had lost, is this some sort of bug? It does recognize that I defeated him and pays me the $7500 prize money but the dialogue afterwards says that I lost. Am I missing something? (By the way this game is utterly incredible)

I think you're supposed to lose, so if you win, congrats yay so much exp and money :D but I think the scripts do go to auto lose.

Really now? I've played a lot of community made rom hacks and such and usually only the awful ones have battles that you're supposed to lose. Also Garchomp only gives like 500 exp :P. It's not even that hard to beat, why not just have a separate scenario for if you do beat him?

I know what you mean about forced losses and all that, but it still kind of makes sense if you think about it. Garchomp is very beatable, but he will in all likelihood put a dent in your team. Given that he most likely has five other pokemon that he could at conceivably throw you, it's not unfair to say that you 'lost' anyway, if you couldn't get through the rest of whatever he has, which the Focus Band/Miss + Curse strategy, for instance, couldn't. Don't know if that's the way you did it, though.

Anyway, Ame's the one who makes the game, she's the only one who can answer that, really.

I managed to beat it in my second play through, after I had made preparations of course.

He's supposed to be unbeatable, but to many veteran players such as myself a victory is very plausible.

Toxic, Acid Spray, Sludge Bomb.

I ended it in about nine turns.

He put a pretty big dent in my team, but seeing as I run both Muk and Garbodor it took him some time to get through them alone. Arbok wrapped it up
Full Restore can only get you so far when you have next to no Special Defense left.

Pretty much. It was supposed to be an impossible battle, but then I realised that people were going to find ways to win regardless.

The implication is supposed to be that when you 'win' Garchomp doesn't actually faint, Solaris just gets bored and decides you're not worth his time.

(That's not to say the outcome won't matter later...)
