need help please

So I was able to download the game and everything but when I try to play it it says DirectX 8.0 or higher not installed but I am fairly sure it is. I have no idea what I should do.

I literally didn't even know that was a requirement.

I did the update and it says that I already have the current version of it and I still get the message that says I need DirectX 8.0 or higher is needed

Ugh, okay. So I've been searching around trying to find anyone else who has had this problem for other games made on the same program, and there's literally nothing.

However, one girl had an issue like that trying to play Portal, and it ended up being because her copy was missing some files.

Could you maybe try giving it a re-download and see if that helps?

I re-downloaded the game and it is still doing it and I have no idea why. Maybe it is just my computer so tomorrow I'll put the files on a different one and see if it work there.

Also, where should i be able to find the location for DirectX on my computer? I'll check to see whats going on with it.

I found this with a quick search:

Fast way to check the version (or if it's installed in the first place):

Start - Run, type dxdiag, and hit Enter. This should start the DirectX Diagnostics Tool.

The "DirectX Files" tab shows the installed *file* version(s), the "Systems" tab shows the DirectX version.

The normal installation location for DirectX is C:\Windows\System32

Alright so I went and used the game on a different computer and I had no problems what so ever.

Also, after messing with some stuff when I try to start the game it just says windows has encountered a problem and the program has stopped working.

It still says I need DirectX 8.0 or higher
