Item stacks

So... first off, apologies if this is the wrong place for it, I'm new to the forums. 

 

Main issue is: is it normal that, say.... for example you have a stack of 99 common candies, and another stack of 50. Use candies from the 50 stack, but it's the 99 that keeps getting depleted. Any way to fix that?

 

And, by extension: is there any way to merge stacks? All I can seem to do is just switch items from one slot to another, but... for example, I want 2 stacks of 40 candies to become one, but I'm unable to do that.

Dump them into the Item storage and then withdraw them that should merge them
