Trevore 76 Posted June 28, 2018 Author Share Posted June 28, 2018 Chapter LVII: Team Reborn, Assemble! After doing a SHIT ton of sidequests, I am finally ready to get on with the story again. I head into the Grand Hall, and walk right up to Ame. Before I talk to her though, I talk to the people at the front desk. They explain their future plans for the Reborn City Restoration Project by saying they've come a long way in a short period of time. They say there is still much to do, and explain what still needs to be done. First, they are still finishing up the repairs for the Beryl Wall. Then they can finally reopen Grandview Station. After that, they plan to rebuild Obsidia Slums from the ground up and make it a low-income housing district and resource center with community gardening and job-finding resources. Second, they'll look at reinforcing underground structures and rebuilding an efficient intercity subway system. Finally, they'll also be restarting the Reborn Pokemon Reintroduction Project with a brand new fully-furnished facility on Azurine Island. I go and talk to Ame, who is happy to see that Julia and Florinia found me after all. She's glad, and my timing is perfect. She tells me to wait a second, as she wraps up something with her secretary. She tells him to go inform Bennett that they've accepted him. She adds that he certainly did famously in the trial battle, but something feels weird about the situation. She's still hung up on Laura's resignation, but the letter she sent was hand-written, signed, and unquestionably hers... She shrugs it off, and asks if he could take care of the rest. She asks him what Bennett's types are, and the secretary says yes. He'll register and notify Bennett of his position. She thanks him and she turns over to me, saying she's got a couple of things to take care of, but she could use my help. She starts to explain, but says it's best if everyone is here. She says that Adrienn, Victoria, and DJ Arclight are taking care of various things around the city. She's not exactly sure where they are right now, but I know them, and I have a good guess where to start. She tells me to just tell them to come back here when I find them, she'll be waiting. Okay, what the fuck is going on?! I KNOW that something is going on! I'll put my thoughts in at the end of this chapter like I usually do, but something isn't right with how Bennett was set into the Elite Four! Knowing where to start first, I fly to the Coral Ward. I see Adrienn giving a speech in front of xyr gym. The people ask to document the design maintenance procedures, and draft a schedule for employees to check it. Xe asks them if it's for public safety regulations, and tells them to get it online, print filers, and have one of the volunteers post the ordinances throughout the city. Turns out Adrienn is a psychic, as xe can tell who each and every individual is and where they are from. The woman xe talks to is having problems with electricity, which somebody was supposed to go by on Tuesday. Nobody showed up, and Adrienn is understanding, knowing what it's like to deal with stuff for so long. Xe turns to ask a volunteer if he's finished with the place on Kingsbury. Kingsbury... I remember those houses underwater saying Kingsbury, maybe the name was adopted into the new city? He says that he is finished, and xe commends him, asking if he can escort her to Mr. Finesilver in the Neo-Circuit Power Plant. Mr. Finesilver is filling in for Julia at the moment. Xe gives xyr signature, asking if he needs something else. He'll get it back to the office right away, and xe thanks everyone for all of their hard work, and to come to xyr if they have any problems. Everyone leaves, and xe takes deep breaths. Xe apologizes for making me wait, and hopes I've been well. Xe understands I've been gone for a while, but this city is one xe can be proud of. Even if it fell apart before, the pieces were always there. It just took someone to put them back together. Xe says that with the help of the local gym leaders, students from Apophyll and Onyx, and more volunteers than xe could have ever hoped for, xe thinks that they've really made a miracle happen here. However, it was daunting, almost nightmarish in the beginning, but one doesn't make this all happen with announcements and inspirational speeches alone. Xe started at one house at a time, taking a personal interest in each crack and story within its walls. From teaching others to do the same in return, everything has erupted outwards into some kind of dream. But we're not done yet, not even close. I then tell xyr my reason for coming here, and that Ame is calling for her. Xe understands, and tells me to go on ahead. Xe has a couple more things to finish, so xe'll stay here. I fly over to the Obsidia Ward, and find Arclight as the nightclub. He greets me well, asking me how I'm doing. He understands that I was sent by Ame to get him, and he already knows what the situation is. He ended up getting involved in the city's business after Adrienn asked him to throw a tag out for xem on the broadcasts. They were able to recruit a lot of volunteers that way, although some of them just wanted to meet him, which was a mess. Wait a minute, if you're that elusive of a person to meet, if you're THAT famous, then why the hell would you just randomly be on the street for me to meet you? I kinda expected to meet you IN the nightclub. Whatever, you're a bro anyways. However, he got a call-in tip from a listener about-- Team Meteor. They're at it again, big shock. He says he'll go on ahead, he just has to clear out the area first. He tells me to go tell Ame he'll be waiting at the meeting place. He leaves, and I go find Victoria. I fly over to the Beryl Ward, and head to the cemetery. I find Victoria, standing over Kiki's grave. She is surprised to see I am really back, because she heard things were happening up in Carnelia, and she was really worried. She's happy to see I'm doing just fine, as I always am. She walks to Kiki's grave, and says that we always are. She was just saying "Hello," "It's been a while," and "Did you find the peace you were looking for?" She turns to me, thinking this city finally has found the peace it was looking for, but she wishes she could say the same. She says that trying to take over the academy has been, well, not the shoes she's capable of filling. She laments that it's never going to be the same without her, but then it's thanks to her sacrifice that it even still exists. She's been thinking, how can the place continue to grow? She realized that the answer wasn't to tear themselves away from Reborn City like they did before, but to give themselves to it. Many of their students have been very involved in helping bring everything together here. However, that's just the answer she found. If Kiki was still here-- and if she were still in charge, her answer might have been different. Victoria apologizes, and says that she's just going off about things like always. I tell her Ame is looking for her, and wonders if she has another project for the students. She says she'll go meet her, and thanks me for telling me. For now, she just wants another moment here, but not before telling me silently that it's good to see me again. I fly back to the Opal Ward and enter the Grand Hall, where I see Adrienn and Ame. While we're waiting for the others, Adrienn asks Ame that if xe was gone for so long, why didn't she replace xyr. Surely if the league was still going, they would need a new Fairy Leader. Ame doesn't want to tell xyr this, but they actually did replace xyr. Adrienn is shocked, and would love to meet the new...old leader. However, nobody's seen or heard from him since the incident in the Jasper Ward, which means that it was very likely he didn't make it. Then Adrienn came back when Ame was finishing arranging a replacement, which was nice timing in that regard. Adrienn apologizes for bringing something up like that, and I go talk to Ame. I tell Ame that Arclight is meeting us there, and assuming that he takes the low way, that will be alright. Victoria comes in, apologizing for making us wait. I take a step back, and we all huddle up. Ame says that Arclight's not coming here, but he already knows, so this is everyone. Victoria asks if something is going on, and Ame gives us the situation: They received an anonymous tip that Team Meteor still has a base in the city, right under our noses. Everyone assumes Devon, and our suspicions our confirmed. I knew it was Devon the moment I saw that shady-ass building! Ame asks us how we know, and from Adrienn's point of view, it is the only logical place left. Xe's been all over the rest of the city pretty intimately, and Devon Corp. is the only place that's always restricted anyone from working around. Victoria even notes that the storefront just looks shifty for what's supposed to be an international company. Adrienn adds that Sweet Co. invested heavily in the restoration, and even Silph Co. was generous enough to donate funds. The fact that Devon still refused to give funds makes us even more suspicious. Ame reveals that it is no longer a suspicion or anonymous lead. She took the liberty of calling Mr. Stone with a business inquiry regarding Devon's Reborn branch. But how can there even be a branch... ...if it doesn't exiiiiiiiiiiiist? Victoria says that it's settled, and we can shut it down for good. However, Ame says that there is one more thing. Our informant also said that the leader of Team Meteor is hidden there right now. Victoria assumes that it is Solaris down there, and promises not to hold back. However, Ame corrects her, saying that it is Lin. Man, just how long has it been since you've kept track of what's going on, Victoria? Did you just hide under a rock after the events of Pyrous Mountain? Ame says that from what Saphira told her, we can't take any chances with Lin. Ame needs all of us, which is why she's going too. This is surprising, because Adrienn thought she would stay in the sidelines. For a second, Ame turns to think how ANNA was the one who originally asked her to do that... ...Is Anna smiling down at me? Is Shade smiling down at me too? Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide? No escape from reality? Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see... Ame turns back to us, and says that at this point, if we can end all of this now, she'll do whatever it takes. Besides, as the champion, she can't just sit and do nothing. BITCH, I know you just didn't say you were CHAMPION?! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN, GIIIIIIIIRRRRRLLL!!! After I whoop ass on the rest of these gym leaders, I'm coming for your ass too! She apologizes to me, asking if I didn't know already, saying that it's not something she likes to toss around or brag about. But she did restart this league after all, and who do I think runs the trial battles for the gym leaders? She says that it's not important right now, and we need to focus on Devon Corp. She's already talked over the details with Arclight, so we go over the plan. The Plan: The main level is probably fairly secure, even if they don't want to be seen. We're going to take a pincer movement with one group in the front, and another group approaching from the basement level connecting to the Railnet. We'll rendevous in the middle, and tackle the upper floors together. Ame asks if we have any questions, and Adrienn asks how the groups will be decided. Ame says that she and xyr will take the storefront. If they pretend to be there on city restoration business, it won't be suspicious. Meanwhile, she says that me, Victoria, and Arclight will come up under and behind them. Adrienn says that if we work together, they won't stand a chance. Victoria promises that she will show Team Meteor the same mercy they showed Kiki, and Ame says we're set, and not to waste any time. They all leave, leaving me to conclude with this chapter with some thoughts. HOLY SHIT, SHIT IS GOING DOWN. I KNOW that Elias forged Laura's resignation. Most likely used Ditto for that! She wouldn't just get fired like that out of the blue. Not even Ame knew what was going on! Laura even said herself, she was FIRED, not resigned! I don't know what's going on, but it seems like Bennett and Elias did some shady shit to get Bennett in the Elite Four! And I am just going to assume that Bennett is a member of Team Meteor at this point. I mean, he is literally with someone who is in Team Meteor. Elias probably recruited him in that, too. And I have a baaaaaad feeling for what is going to go down in Devon Corp. Gonna bring in the big guns for this one! BUT WAIT A MINUTE! Before I conclude this chapter with the stuff I usually do, I want to TRULY assemble the Reborn Team! Do you really think it is just us four? HELL no! There's several more, all fighting to keep the peace in the Reborn region! So from now on, I'm going to be going over each and every important character in a way that is almost similar to how I have my Pokemon Team's status. That way, I can keep tabs on everybody, and who they are involved with. I teach my Pokemon some new moves, then I head over to the Obsidia Ward, where I find Ame and Adrienn already in position. They both tell me to meet up with Arclight and Victoria down in the Underground Railnet. With that said, I head down there, but not before getting TM47 Low Sweep from surfing down in the Obsidia Ward. I head down to the basement entrance of Devon Corp, and use Flash to see. I end up finding the same Absol that was following me, and walks away through walls. Absol must be high as fuck. But still... If Absol is here, then something bad is going to happen here. I can feel it. I meet up with Victoria and Arclight, and Victoria says to talk to Arclight when I'm ready. I go talk to him, and he sees I got the lowdown already. Arc holds a radio comm' here, while the others have the receiving piece. When he sends the signal, we bust in at the same time. If the information he got was true, then we may be in for a lot of tough battles. But if we can do this, then we can end everything right here, right now. Once we go in, there's no turning back. He tells me to make sure I'm absolutely ready first, and I am. He tells me to go ahead, he'll radio the others and be right behind me. Victoria says that she's with me, and it'll be just like old times when we were fighting together before. Only this time, she'll make sure the scales are tipped in our favor. Team Meteor... ends today. I head upstairs, and I am met with three orderlies, all in which are dressed in new uniforms like what John had. They must have all sided with Team Meteor... They are happy someone finally shows up, and it's about time. They corner me, and say it's a shame they have to make me leave right away. Victoria quickly arrives, and says that there's not a Pokemon in this world strong enough to toss us aside. Um... I can think of PLENTY that can not only toss us around, but can also KILL us. Do you really want to choose those words? I certainly wouldn't want to be speared into a kabob by a fucking Conkeldurr. Arc shows up too, and says that it's time we take them off the air. Victoria and I battle the two in front of us, while Arc goes and battles the one in front of him. We beat them, and they back up, while Arc dismisses them, saying the conflict is over now. Victoria sends out Incineroar, who quickly destroys the gate. She returns it to its Pokeball, and she and Arc head upstairs. Meanwhile, there is either a Mega Stone or a Z-Crystal in the corner, and I can't get it... I talk to the three orderlies, who say that was actually the most fun they've had in weeks. They ask if we couldn't have found this place sooner. The man says he would have thought twice before taking this job if he knew he would be facing me again. There's not much point in a battle like that, which he learned that much from the first fight he saw me in at the orphanage. The last orderly says that just because Dr. Connal's gotten wrapped up in Team Meteor, doesn't mean they have to. Since the orphanage has been on a temporary close, she'd be out of a job otherwise. Then she realizes that's my fault too. I head upstairs, and Arc is worried about Ame and Adrienn. He says they should have finished dealing with the storefront by now, but they're not here. He doesn't see them, and assumes they went on ahead. He says he'll go on ahead just far enough to see if they are up there. He tells me to check the storefront for him, and tells Victoria to watch our exit in case anyone comes to separate us that way. He doesn't this, and goes on ahead. Victoria tells him to be safe and not to go too far. She asks me if it was really okay that we let those three downstairs go, and she was honestly expecting more of a fight. I head to the storefront, and the whole place is ransacked apart. I find three Meteor grunts, all unconscious. I find a shiny object on the ground, and pick up the Radio Transceiver. Did Ame drop this? This can't be good... I head up to the second floor, and I find two orderlies just savagely knocked out cold by Arc and Victoria. DAMN, guys, what did we say about secrecy? Victoria calls it karma, and says that they had it coming to them. Arc thanks her for the backup, and Victoria says it was nothing. She heard fighting from downstairs, and she wasn't about to just stand by. Arc asks me if there's any sign of Ame or Adrienn, and I flash the Radio Transceiver. I show it to him, and he says that this is no doubt the radio he lent Ame. He couldn't even send a message to them. He's shocked they actually dropped it, and Victoria wonders if they were overpowered. Arc says that between the champion and a gym leader, that's hard to imagine, but... He shakes it off, and says that they have to be fine. He says that we'll probably find them if we keep going, and takes a look around the room. He thinks he gets what it is, and walks through. He gets shocked, and Victoria asks if he's okay. He says it's nothing, but he wouldn't recommend stepping on them though. He walks and finds a terminal, and says that it controls the patterns on the floor. He sees that there are three patterns, and from what he can tell here, they're on multiple floors. The only way to steer them is right on this floor, and says that it's a mess. He asks me if the radio still works, and says that he'll stay back here and work the terminal, while breaking the fourth wall, telling me to press the A button to use the radio and signal him whenever I want to rotate the floor's pattern. He'll be counting on us, and Victoria steps back. She gets the feeling this puzzle will go sour if we try and do it at the same time, so I go ahead first, and she'll trace my footsteps and timing when I'm done. I make my way through easily, and head to the second floor. Victoria follows me, and we both get stopped by two more Meteor orderlies. They say it would be a shame if all of this persistence went to waste now, and Victoria says that the only thing that will be wasted is Team Meteor. The other orderly asks if that attitude is what she teaches down at that "tawdry school", and she'll be happy to give them a lesson right now. We teach them a lesson of whoopass, and Arc contacts us. He asks us if we can hear him, and he asks us if we are alright because he heard fighting. Victoria says that we're fine, and says that there's no way she'll lose to Team Meteor ever again. Arc says that's music to his ears, and Victoria says there's another one of those floors up here, and asks if he can handle it. Arc says it's not even a factor, telling me I know what to do. Both of the orderlies are salty they lost, and say whether it's spirit or psyche, both break away in time. Victoria questions why these floors were installed, and can't imagine they were just made to slow us down. I follow the path again, and Victoria mysteriously follows my trail somehow, and the two orderlies ask how much longer do we intend to flounder in affairs well beyond our ability, and Victoria asks if they want to see just how far this ability goes. The orderly facing her sees her getting riled up, and asks what would Kiki think. Victoria tells him not to dare act like he knows her, and as long as he sides with Team Meteor, he is not even fit to speak her name. We fight them, and they taunt us after we beat them. Victoria tells the orderly to say Kiki's name one more time and see what happens. He thinks for a moment, and asks if that's what Kiki wants. Victoria then straight up knocks him out cold. The other one says that even she can't say he didn't deserve that. Victoria heads onward, while the orderly says that one of the superiors gave them a little bit of info on Victoria. Well, all of us. She guesses that some of them decided to put it to use. I head upstairs into a small corridor where I find Victoria. She knows that she's disappointing Kiki right now because this isn't how she taught her. But at the same time, she can't let these people get away for what they did. She vows she will never, ever forgive them. She continues talking as she steps forward, but then it turns out to be a trap. The door behind us shuts, and Victoria quickly goes to the exit, seeing that it's completely sealed. The walls start closing in. She tells me to move, and we both start moving. She sends out Incineroar, who holds the walls together, just giving us enough room to squeeze through. However, she tells me to go on without her. She says they'll be fine, and to hurry. I make my way through, leaving her and Incineroar behind. I'll come back for you, Victoria! I head upstairs, and Arc contacts me. He asks if everything is okay, as things were pretty loud up here just now. I tell him Victoria stayed behind, and he says as long as she's with her Pokemon, he thinks she'll be fine. I tell him there's still no sign of Ame and Adrienn, and he says this hasn't gone as planned at all. He says I'm close to the top now, there might be something up there. He says we should get through this and save everyone. I try and go back, but the passage is completely sealed. I make my way through, and one of the orderlies spots me. He asks if I thought coming here would find something helpful. I beat him, and he says that they already relocated everything they need, and that both projects are safe and sound, with nothing we can do about that. I make my way through the floor, and find another orderly, who says I really should have known better than to trust an anonymous tip. I beat him, and he says that it's too late, we're already trapped. He further states that every step, no, every breath we've taken has been scripted. With all of the orderlies defeated, I make my way to the top floor. I will keep going. Trap or not, I must save the others! I head to the top floor, and Arc contacts me in a hurry. He says that she found him, he means Lin, the leader of Team Meteor did. The radio breaks up, but I hear the word help. Looks like it was a trap after all... I walk through, finding three items I can grab. There's no PULSE, no Meteors in sight, just three items, one including a TM. However, before I make my way to claim my rewards, the tile on the floor turns yellow, and I get zapped into unconsciousness... I should have known it was a trap. The anonymous tip, the orderlies, everything... Will we ever make it out alive? Will we stop Team Meteor once and for all? Stay tuned! After I'm zapped unconscious, I eventually wake up to find myself in a prison cell. However, Team Meteor was kind enough to give me my own PC and healing machine. Is there a Nurse Joy in Team Meteor? Because I'm really thankful for that. I heal my Pokemon, and give Goddard the Fairy Memory. I enter the other room, which is large, and has a big Meteor M on the floor. Yup... We're captured by Team Meteor. I head to the bars on the cage, but the door is locked behind me. Victoria comes in the room from the other cell, and she is surprised to see me. She walks up to the bars, and the door locks behind her too, as she can't get out. She asks me what's going on, and just then, the screen turns on, revealing Lin. She welcomes us, and Victoria asks if that is Lin. Lin understands that me and my petty shambles of acquaintances have come here to stop her. She laughs, and says that we thought we were strong together, and here we are now. "Let this be a lesson. Numbers do not help. Friends do not help. Spirit does not help. In the end, you are still powerless. You are still a victim. You always will be, won't you?" Victoria asks her what she knows about spirit during this speech, and Lin just ignores her. She then says that we will now play a game. She directly tells me personally that in order to reunite with my so-called friends, I must fight them. The winner may proceed, the loser will suffer a penalty. There are no rules, and she tells us to begin. The screen turns off, and Victoria is surprised we have to fight each other to get out of here. She silently thinks it over, then agrees to the terms. She promises she's not backing down, and she promised Kiki she would finish the job. She tells me to give her everything I've got, and we'll find out which of us is better-suited to finish off Team Meteor. Well, since I'm forced to fight, fuck it. Sorry, Victoria, but if I want to stop Team Meteor, you're going to have to sit this one out. Punishment or not, it's for your own good! Victoria sends out Mienshao, while I send out Charles. Charles takes a Fake Out and a Knock Off, then burns Mienshao down with Heat Wave. She sends out her Alolan Raichu, whose special attack sharply rises with its Synthetic Seed, but I easily send out Falcone and knock it out with Sucker Punch. She sends out her Gallade, one of her aces, and Falcone knocks him out with a boosted Sucker Punch. As Falcone's blood count begins to rise, so does his strength. Victoria sends out Lucario, and it strikes Falcone down with Aura Sphere, but he BARELY survives as he takes down Lucario with him with Brave Bird. She sends out Togekiss, while I send out Auriol. Unfortunately, he gets knocked out in one hit with a critical hit Aura Sphere, so I send out Goddard with that Fairy Memory and have him use Iron Head while Togekiss uses Dazzling Gleam. Then Togekiss thinks up a Nasty Plot, but misses the Air Slash as Goddard knocks it out with two more Iron Heads. She sends out Incineroar while I send out Hydra. Victoria tells herself to minimize the chaos within, and she apologizes to her Sensei once more. After Incineroar intimidates Hydra, Hydra Dragon Dances around, getting his attack stat back, while being even faster. He then strikes Incineroar down with two Waterfalls as she tries knocking him out with Darkest Lariat. With Victoria's new and improved team defeated, I win the battle! Victoria apologizes to her Sensei again, and is shocked to see me win once more. She is surprised that after all of her hard work, training to be able to defeat them, she promised she'd never lose to Team Meteor again, but I still win. The door opens, her tiles change to yellow, and she gets shocked repeatedly on end, whereas I get to continue onward. I go to her, and she asks me what I am waiting for. She tells me to get going already, and she'll be fine. She says she'll prove as Kiki's successor that it's going to take a lot more than this to break her spirit. She tells me to go already, the others are... She tries to speak words, but she loses her will to speak. "Loss of speech is not among the effects of electroconvulsive therapy. She hasn't lost the ability to speak. Only her will." I hear those words replay from the Doctor as I witness the torture happening to Victoria, and can only wonder if the Doctor himself was the one who built the floor plan for Devon Corp. As well as this punishment right here. I then move on to the next room ahead. Don't worry Victoria! I promise I'll save you and the others. I have to! I'll put an end to their plans here once and for all! I head into the next room, and I see conveyor belts. Just then, the radio goes off, and the panels switch, which seems like the floor panels are still connected to the Radio Transceiver. If Arc is kidnapped, then who is controlling the floor panels? Also, sometimes when I walk, I end up floating, no animation at all. But when I step on the shock tiles and get shocked, I walk again. Dr. Sigmund, is this what you use to cure people who suffer from catatonia? Seriously, I'm thinking YOU designed these mad puzzles of Devon Corp. I am not sorry for psychological education. It takes a while, because I have to flip switches, while timing when I land on the tiles that don't shock me. I find a light shard and heal my Pokemon, even though I can easily go back to my cell and heal from the machine. However, I do make it across the room eventually unscathed. I head upstairs into the corridor, save my progress, and enter the next room. I head to the bars, and the door shuts behind me again. This time, Arc is locked in the other cell. He realizes that it's the same thing over again, and he tells me he found Adrienn. Xe's on the level below, and it was set up like this one. He asks if I've seen it, or the others, and he asks if the bitch was Lin. I confirm it was, and he tells me that she said we had to fight each other to get out. He says that Adrienn-- xe refused. He curses to himself, and says that xe said xe wouldn't fight, and that he should just go on. And the penalty... The floor was searing, and it wasn't pretty. This bitch is cooking satay out here! Just then, the screen turns on, and Lin asks if we understand yet. Arc already knows the drill. "You have no control. You never did. Even if your glass-spun egos depend on convincing yourselves otherwise. You are pigs to be herded. You are pigs to be hurt. Sputter, shiver and squeal. It changes nothing. You know what to do." The screen turns off, and Arc says that she's going to eat those words when one of us "little piggies" catches up to her. But right now... He found out the hard way before that even these bars are electrified. Plus the floor panels, which... If he's not at the control panel to switch them for me, then who is? That's what I've been wondering, Arc! Regardless for all of his tough talk, he doesn't have a way out of this. It pisses him off, but she's right. We got cocky, and now we're trapped. He asks me what I'm going to do, if I'm going to fight, or refuse like Adrienn. Shit, if we have to fight, I have no problems with that. If I gotta fight you guys to save you, I'm gonna. Fuck the penalties, I'm taking that bitch out myself! He's glad I'm making the choice to fight, and he's fighting for Adrienn's sake now too. He asks if I get that, and I do. The battle begins after a good talk. Let's do this, Arc! You and me! Let's dance! DJ Arclight sends out Luxray while I send out Falcone. I switch to Dragon-Goddard after Luxray intimidates Falcone, and Goddard Multi-Attacks Luxray. Eventually, he uses a Hyper Potion to heal it, but I keep going anyways. Luxray goes down, then Arc sends out Raichu, who uses Nasty Plot while I send out Amelia and set her up with a Calm Mind. Unfortunately, he sets up a second time and strikes with a critical hit Thunderbolt, knocking poor Amelia out. I send out Falcone, who goes for the critical hit Sucker Punch, knocking out Raichu and taking some blood. Arc sends out Jolteon, who also falls to Falcone's mighty Sucker Punch. He sends out Noivern, but Falcone simply doesn't give a fuck as he strikes with ANOTHER Sucker Punch, clocking Noivern out. He sends out Exploud, but nope! Another kill for Falcone as he Sucker Punches it down. He sends out Ampharos, and says that I've got a good showing, but tells me not to think he's going off the air just yet. He Mega Evolves Ampharos into... Mega Ampharos! Buuuuuuut the match is already over. After wiping all of Ampharos' other brethren, Falcone immediately wipes the floor with Ampharos with a blood-sucking, five-star finisher Sucker Punch. With all of Arclight's Pokemon defeated, I win the battle! Arc apologizes to Adrienn, and says that it's his turn now. He says that at least this way, winner and loser alike, we can both take pride in knowing that we did everything we could. He tells me to go get them, and calls me a hero. Just then, my cell door opens, and Arc falls below as the tiles open. I then head upstairs into the next room. I head into the next room, and it is another puzzle like the one before. I make my way across the spinners and tiles, and find the PULSE Read-out 01, updating the PULSE Dex! I read it, and it's... Magnezone. The very first PULSE... Magnezone. It created ZEL. This must be what's reproducing the PULSE machines! And it obeys only them, hmm... How strange... This is most likely where they've been hiding it all this time! Eventually, I make to the next room, and when I do, I witness a battle between Ame and Lin, Alolan Ninetales vs. Hydreigon. Ame is shocked that Hydreigon actually lived through an attack that probably should have fainted it, and Lin sees that the so-called "Champion" is this weak. How can anybody be anymore stronger than Ame? She's the CHAMPION. And have you seen the trainers here? Nope! She tells Hydreigon to finish the job with Flash Cannon, and Alolan Ninetales is defeated through an attack sequence as the screen flashes. Ame returns it to its Pokeball, and Lin declares "Checkmate." She orders Hydreigon to end it, as Hydreigon flies towards Ame and... Oh Lord... I can't watch! It charges and eats Ame's head... IS THIS MY PRIZE FOR WINNING THOSE BATTLES?! THAT'S HORRIBLE! Ame falls to the floor headless. The music changes into something more somber, and she returns Hydreigon to its Pokeball as she moves over to Ame. "Today, the heart of Reborn falls. How marvelous. And how droll." She walks back to the center, looks down at me, and leaves. The doors open, and I run over to the fallen Amethyst. I check to see if any of her Pokeballs remain, and they seem to have been taken... I kneel to the floor, and shed a tear for the fallen Champion. Amethyst... You were a proud, heroic leader. You rebuilt this city when it was desperately in a time of need, and you heralded as its Champion. I wish I could have risen to the top to fight you, but not like this... Because you're dead, Lin is the "Champion" now, and Bennett has a secure spot in the League. There is almost no way to take it all back. There is no way to change the past... But I can change today. I can change today so that I can make a better future. Lin, you will pay. You will pay the cost as steep as you gave Amethyst. With your life. And I will make sure that once I take your head, I will show it off to all of Team Meteor, so that they know their "Champion" has fallen just as ours has. I will make you my bitch. You will have nothing left. Not even a proper grave for all of your hopes and dreams. You will shatter. You will break. And you will fall. I will personally make sure of that. As I leave Ame's lifeless body behind, I head deeper in Team Meteor's toughest base yet. I make my way through the maze, and heal my Pokemon with the light shard. Eventually, I find more stairs. As soon as I get upstairs to the highest floor, I find ZEL arguing about something to themselves, as well as the PULSE that's keeping them together, PULSE-Magnezone. Sparks flying, wires everywhere and all. Lumi is trying to calm down Zero, while I walk over. I hear Zero ask Eve what the hell did she mess up so badly. Eve tells Zero that this wasn't a user error, and that some kind of corrupted program must have been injected in the system. Zero concludes that her security was just shit. Lumi yells at Zero, telling him to stop blaming Eve because she doesn't see him helping. He quickly tells her to shut up, and asks Eve if the data can be repaired or not. Eve reports that all PULSE2 and Arc-PULSE data have been left unaltered. However, the PULSE-Magnezone damage is irreparable, and she will need to rewrite it. Lumi is concerned, because if Magnezone is damaged-- Zero cuts them off, saying that there's no time to rewrite it, stating that Lin wanted all the PULSEs out of here hours ago. Eve is aware, hence why the other projects have been safely relocated. However, she says that Magnezone cannot be moved under the certain circumstances, and the timing could not be worse. Zero thinks that Lin must have known this was coming, and bets it has something to do with the hero brigade she had hauled in here. He assumes that we're plotting to destroy Magnezone like all the other ones. Just then, he spots me. "Speak of the devil." Eve says that it's too late already, and Lumi asks me if I've really come to destroy everything here. What the fuck? No! I'm not a monster like some people who go around savagely ripping heads off! FUCK YOU, LIN. Zero, however, thinks I'm lying, and says that they know all about my little hacking scheme too. Try talking to Terra, maybe SHE was the one who entered your system. She does have a way of fucking shit up, you know! Maybe Lin hacked the system to get Terra out of the digital world. Why don't you ask Lin? He says that there's no way in hell I'm going to get away with this, and Eve tells him to control his temper. She tells him that Lin requested that I not be harmed. Odd... Wouldn't she WANT to kill me? What role do I play in all of this? He agrees, but he's not just going to sit back and let me do whatever I want with his projects. Lumi defends Eve by asking HIS projects? She defends Eve by saying that she is the one thad does all the hard work, and he just bullies her all the time. Zero tells her to just stop talking and fight already. Eve, Lumi, you're going to be okay. Zero, you REALLY need to learn some manners and give credit to where it's due! If I have to take down PULSE-Magnezone and free you from your burdens, I will! ZEL sends out Aurorus. More specifically, Lumi does, while I send out Fighting-Goddard. Goddard strikes Aurorus down with Multi-Attack, but it survives with a Focus Sash, allowing it to use Stealth Rocks. Lumi gives an Ultra Potion, but Goddard still knocks down Aurorus anyway with a critical hit Multi-Attack. Eve sends out Alakazam, and I send out Falcone. Falcone strikes with Sucker Punch, knocking Alakazam down. Eve then sends out Espeon, and Falcone knocks it down too. Lumi sends out Glaceon, but it actually survives Falcone's Sucker Punch, and freezes him to death with Blizzard. No more bloodshed for you, buddy. I send out Auriol, who Swords Dances as Lumi heals Glaceon with an Ultra Potion. Damn, Lumi, wasting all of Zero's Ultra Potions so he doesn't use any. I see how it is! Auriol strikes Glaceon down with Close Combat, and Zero sends out Umbreon. Auriol pummels Umbreon with Close Combat, beating him down. In a last ditch effort, he sends out PULSE-Magnezone, who is unleashed by Lumi, who says that if they're going to get through this, they need its help. With each eye wielding the energy of Zero, Eve, and Lumi, I take it down once and for all with another Close Combat from Auriol. With ZEL defeated once and for all, I win the battle! With that all said and done, Eve has final words to say to Lumi. "Lumi, regardless of what happens now-- please remember that I will always, always love you." Lumi quickly runs over to Magnezone, who seems to be dying from the aftermath. She is horrified, and begs it to be okay. She tries to make out words, but then... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!! Just then, Magnezone explodes, shaking the whole room into disarray. The backup generator turns on, and ZEL is knocked unconscious. The PULSE-Magnezone lies in ruin, reading "PxLS* 01". Looks like some of it was blown away in the explosion. With Magnezone gone, I walk over to wake ZEL up. Zero is the one who wakes up, and hears that it's so quiet. He wonders what happened to the PULSE, and asks Lumi and Eve if they lost hearing during the explosion. However... Lumi and Eve are nowhere to be seen. Or heard. He realizes they're gone, and yells at them to say something. He realizes that Magnezone is truly gone, and also realizes that he is alone. Horrified, he repeatedly says this in a moment of insanity, and then he says he is empty. Having fully realized that he is completely alone, he says that he needs to get to Agate, and he quickly leaves. Zero... I honestly feel sorry for you at this point. You lost two people who you were connected to, and I hope whatever it is you find at Agate, it's worth it. As for Lumi and Eve... I have a feeling we will meet again. I head down to the lower floor again, and flip the switch. I move left on the conveyor belt, and head to the next room. Trapped with nowhere else to go, I hit the switch. The doors open, and so do the three in front of me. Out comes Victoria, Arclight, and Adrienn. Both Victoria and Arc fall to the floor, and Adrienn is unscathed. Adrienn was not ready to ride that ride, and Victoria asks if it's over. Adrienn asks if Arclight is okay, and Victoria says that everything hurts. She thought it was going to be the end for her. Adrienn tries to wake up Arc, as it's no time for a nap, but... Xe sees something horrible, and turns away. Victoria asks if he's dead, and we check on him. Adrienn says he's not, which is the good news. Victoria is horrified that they tore out his eye, which is the bad news. Victoria screams why, and Adrienn says that based on what Lin said to us, xe would reason that is his "penalty". Xe says that xe must have gotten lucky. After Arc went ahead, the floor of the cage xe was in became super-heated. Even though it hurt, xe was fine thanks to the help of xyr Pokemon. Victoria still wonders what the point of this was, and Adrienn cuts her off, wondering if anyone has seen Ame, as we're missing someone. I have... She's dead, jim... I watched her get murdered with my own two eyes! Adrienn horrified at the news, but then calmly says it's up to us, then. Victoria doesn't understand that if they wanted to stop us, why didn't they do it yet. She asks why not just kill us and be done with it. Adrienn reasons that the only thing xe can think of is in order to send a message, which REALLY pisses Victoria off, because they didn't give Kiki a message, and she didn't get the chance to live. She beats the wall, and wonders why she should have to be the one to live. Face it Victoria, if you were the dead one, we'd have two dead people with no Sensei. She was already dying, you know. She tells us not to get her wrong, she's already livid with Team Meteor for everything they've done. She will never forgive Cal for siding with them for even a second. But most of all, she's furious with herself for not being able to stop it. I agree with you, Victoria! I wasn't able to stop Hydreigon from brutally devouring Ame's head, but am I upset? A little, but I'm trying to move on from that. I've already vowed to make Lin pay, for not only our sake, but for all the other lives she's ruined. We're in this together, you hear? Adrienn consoles Victoria, saying that xe cannot pretend to know what her story is, or even what really happened, but xe knows this: "We cannot blame ourselves in the present for the mistakes we did in the past. And not a day goes by that I don't think, for the past how many years that did not exist for me, if I had been here, maybe I could have kept things stitched together long enough that would have ever happened. Maybe this city would still be the shining paradise that it is now only in our memories. If I hadn't made a trivial mistake of falling into a fairy-ring-- But no. Those thoughts will not fix the city. They will not bring those we've lost back. And they will not help us to move forward. We must choose to move forward. Adrienn goes to pick up Arc, and asks where to. Victoria sees that the door just opened, right after I flipped the switch and freed them. Adrienn says that sounds like a plan as good as any, and we all leave. Together. Finally, we can put Devon Corp. to rest. To putting the past behind us! When we head outside, we find ourselves in a corner of North Obsidia Ward, which confuses all of us. Why. How. It looked like we were all on top of Devon Corp. Believe me though, I would have known if there were stairs. I was at the top, and there was nothing of significance up there. Victoria asks Adrienn what exactly happened when xe was with Ame. Adrienn says that when Arc sent the signal, they entered through the front as planned. There was the expected resistance, but then as soon as they were finished dealing with them, the exits sealed, and it was some kind of gas trap. Xe doesn't remember what happened after that. Victoria recalls that when she was trying to keep a path clear for me, another group of Meteors came from out of nowhere and knocked her out. Adrienn deduces that after rendering each of us unconscious, they transported us to this building. Victoria beats her up because again, she was unable to stop it. However, she realizes that Kiki was also weak, her body was killing itself. Kiki couldn't stop that, and she's not sure if she ever truly accepted it. She then fully realizes how the student becomes the master now, and that they have a lot of work to do. Adrienn agrees, and Victoria says that despite all of us being so pitifully weak, to look how far we've come. We all take a look at the city, and promise to protect it. Adrienn sees that this building was a cover for a Meteor facility too, and that's a lead, with whoever being responsible for this probably having ties to Team Meteor. Xe says that those records should be at the Grand Hall, and Victoria says that she'll take care of those and inform the other staff there about what's happened. Adrienn says xe'll get Arc into medical care and organize a party to search Devon and this building. The fact that they led us here and then freed us probably means they don't intend to use it anymore, which means there may be something we can still learn. Xe asks me if I can come by xyr gym later, as xe has one or two requests for me. Victoria will also be in touch as well. Adrienn wishes all of us luck, and they leave. With me on my own, I am free with my thoughts. So Ame is dead, Eve and Lumi are most likely dead, and Zero has gone completely insane. Instead of Ame, I hear Victoria, who has appeared to have taken on Ame's duties, since she's dead. She doesn't know too much about Adrienn's team or fighting style, but she's heard xe fights in doubles, so I should be ready for it. She also heard a little bit about xyr gym when some of the students from Apophyll were helping rebuild it. Adrienn designed it to switch tactics in the middle of a fight. I can already see the mist in the gym, but the atmosphere xe constructed aside from that is enough to power xyr Pokemon regardless. She says I might not want to count on just blowing it away, but then I might have to be ready for that anyways. Timing and adaptability should be key, so I'll really think about when using my strongest Pokemon. That's all she has for me, and she leaves. I talk to Adrienn, who sees that I'm here already. Xe says it's okay, xe just wasn't prepared. Xe reveals what xyr request is, and... xe wants to battle me. It would be an official gym match, and given recent circumstances, the actual status of the Reborn League might be unclear. However, Victoria and xe will handle the administration. As for the champion... That's xyr second request. Xe wants me to become the new champion. That might have been my goal in the first place, but now xe thinks it's especially important. Xe would like it if it was me in particular because from what xe heard, I've been the one who's done so much for Reborn's sake. Of course, it still entails collecting all the badges and defeating the Elite Four. Probably no one would accept my new role otherwise. And Lin... Xe doesn't go there, and even if she defeated Ame, xe personally will refuse to acknowledge her as champion. But we need someone to stand up to her, and I'm our best hope for that. After everything Team Meteor has done... After everything Lin has done... I will take up that mantle. I will defeat Lin, and I WILL be champion. Amethyst would have wanted it, right? Xe thanks me, and to start, xe would like to have our battle now. However, xe's a bit swamped. Xe's got a handful of workstations that are shorthanded, and not to mention planning the recovery party for Devon Corp and what xe's begun begun referring to as the Devonyx building. It's going to take xyr a small bit to get these sorted, but xe could use my help too. Xe wants me to go explore the city and look for anybody who might be willing to lend a hand, xe would really appreciate it. If we can at least get five people, that should be enough to work with. But closer to ten would be ideal, and the difference would be worth my time. If they wish to volunteer, they should come here to the gym, and xe will handle the rest. After that's settled, I can battle Adrienn. I bet I can find FIFTEEN people. I make my way all over the city finding people. First, I find a woman in the stairway between Obsidia and Coral who's run away from somebody. I give her something to do. I then see somebody looking out toward the sea in South Obsidia. I find a girl in Obsidia Park looking for work too. I also find a little boy in the library reading books, he gets a job. I find a socially awkward girl in Jasper, and give her a job. That's five so far... Ten more to go! I then head to Blacksteam Shelter and find someone sitting on a bench over by the room the PULSE-Muk once was, and give him some work. I head to the Grand Stairway, and in front of it, I see this smartass asshole who doesn't stop bragging about his genius. He's seriously overcompensating for something. I force labor upon him, and head to Lapis where I find an old lady by the little park. I give her something to do with her life, and fly to Beryl. I find a people-watching person on Beryl Bridge, and give her some work to do. I find a shop-owner who's looking to repay the favor, so I give him a job. That's ten... Five more to go! I decide to take a break and fly to Spinel Town, just to see if it's still suffering the effects of PULSE-Abra. It turns out that they're adapting quite well, despite a few things still disappearing such as the town's sign. What a peaceful, mysterious town. I fly back to Reborn City and head to the Onyx Arcade, where I find a guy who's bored with nothing to do. I give him a job, and also find that the Onyx Ward is a lot more lively than it was. I go to see what's up, and it appears that the arcades are fully functional again. Wait a minute! When I fought those glitches in the computers in Ametrine City, did that fix whatever problems they were having down here? Heh, I guess I AM the Savior of Reborn. The Savior of Nerds everywhere. Since I am at Onyx, I head to the Trainer's School, and see that the entrance to Florinia's gym is blocked while she is away. The girl guarding it asks me for a favor to ask the girl she likes her feelings. Her crush usually hangs out on the third floor, so I head there. I guess everyone has been obsessed with me too, because I'm all the gossip at the school. One even asks for my autograph, which I give, and another even flirts with me. I learn about terrains, and a girl gives me the Telluric Seed. Everyone is also happy I beat the shit out of Fern, too. Yeah, well now he's an even bigger problem since he's with Team Meteor. If anyone wants to see an encore, I'll happily give you one when I take the barrier down in Calcenon City and beat the shit out of him even more, especially since Florinia's pissed at him. Speaking of Florinia, it seems like she's behind on some administrative things because she is away. And to some, I am handsome like a prince, elegant like a queen, five-hundred Pokemon at max level (I only have one, and that is Pyukumuk!) and even telekinetic powers. Bitch please, if I had telekinetic powers, Team Meteor would have no chance. And I'm standing right in front of you! I head upstairs to find Protective Pads, and can somehow catch another shiny Porygon, so I try to do so, but accidentally kill it. I already have one, so I don't really need another anyways. What's strange is that in the Glitch World, Goddard is the steel type, and looks like it's from the Glitch World. I talk to a guy who awkwardly asks me something, but realizes I'm there. Scared, he backs up, and breaks a plant. The student yells at me, and tells me not to sneak up on him like that. He runs away, and the teacher walks up and apologizes. He says he'll go get a janitor, so he proceeds to do so, opening the doors. I head back into the sorority dorm of the four gym leaders, and find an interesting piece of literature there. On Fairy Tales: "History has a habit of letting little girls wander past the forest's edge, only to be swallowed up by any number of enchantments beyond. She awakens in a tower, Stone, Cold, Alone. A dragon guards her, its fangs bared to the world, Brimstone breath faithfully reserved for whatever metal-clad ignoramus thinks himself so mighty that even fire may not char his miserable flesh. But there is only one who can slay the beast: The one to whom its back is turned." What an interesting story... I wonder if I'll ever experience such a story myself. I probably might, knowing Titania is a fan of literature. And she's out in Tourmaline Desert... Deserts have mirages... Who knows. I head to the newly opened room, head upstairs, and find a girl sitting on the couch while another one is studying. I talk to the girl on the couch, and try giving her the sweet heart. She's flattered, but isn't interested in her, going to go talk to her straight. She says I should hang on to the chocolate, as it would be a dumb move to eat the chocolate and then letting her down. I head back to the girl, who freaks out, asking if I talked to her yet. I did, and told her the message. She gets depressed, and sees that night they spent together on Beryl Bridge meant nothing to her crush, and she thought the girl liked her, but realizes she overthinks things,and wonders why she always falls in love with her friends just over a few precious moments. She says it's over now, and apologizes I had to hear her whining and poor expectations. She wants to let it go, and was going to give the girl a present. She went through a lot of trouble getting it, but she can't do that now. She gives me something that was for her crush's favorite Pokemon, and says it's an apology. She says that she has a gym to guard, and that's probably all she'll ever get. She gives me the INCINIUM-Z, and says she's fine. Now I want an Incineroar. I head outside, and see a group who obsesses over me. One girl even asks how Amaria is doing. She's doing great... If you consider losing her memory after jumping off a fucking waterfall into a Water Treatment Center being great, that is. I head to Peridot, and find a girl hiding in an alley. I give her a job, and I also give a guy in one of the buildings nearby a job too. I fly to Beryl and head just north of it. I find a bug catcher watching over the city, and give him a job. I also find a girl who's lost in the alley in Obsidia, and show her da wae to a job. I fly back to the Coral Ward and talk to Adrienn. Xe says that xe just finished assigning the last of our volunteers, and that they've gotten so many thanks to me. Xe's astounded, but even then, exceeding expectations does seem to be my strong point. Let's see... I've found the Reborn City Police force, beaten Solaris, had no children abducted, fought a Ditto Arceus and sided with Radomus, didn't give the Ruby Ring to Blake (Except he stole it anyway, which we got back), and decided not to fight Taka out of mercy. I think I've exceeded every expectation so far. Xe thanks me for all my help, and says it must have been really challenging to go out and look for all those people. It really wasn't that hard. Ever heard of guides? Xe gives me the Wise Glasses, an Ability Capsule, and a Star Piece as thanks. Xe then says it's time for our battle, so xe'll take xyr place in the arena, saying I should take my place when I'm ready to battle. Adrienn says xe'll be waiting, and takes xyr place, and when I talk to xyr at xyr spot, xe tells me that even though I'm champion-to-be, xe won't hold back, and really wants to enjoy this. After training my Pokemon, I head back to the Coral Gym and get into position. Adrienn asks me if I am ready for our long-awaited match, and I am. Adrienn is pumped, and says xe's been looking forward to this since the day we met. Xe calls me "Champion", and has me picturing a scenario. "You're in your palace at the Hall of Champions! A new trainer, Adrienn, has just blown through all of the Elite Four. Xe intends to challenge and claim your title! Now you have to fight to defend your honor! Although the roles are reversed right now, this is still a defining step on that adventure, so come at me with all of that same spirit! Show me what Reborn's future champion looks like!" You know what? I will. After I win and beat you, I'm going to give it everything I've got for the rest of the leaders! Then the Elite Four, and then? Lin herself. I've come this far, I'm not backing down now! Come at me, Adrienn! Visionary Adrienn sends out Eolande the Granbull and Kailen the Gardevoir, while I send out Amelia and Charles. Charles tries using Heat Wave, but gets knocked out by Eolande and Kailen afterwards. I send out Megaman X, and take Eolande down with Meteor Mash. Adrienn sends out Orphne the Mawile. Unfortunately for me, Xe Mega Evolves Orphne into... Mega Mawile, which might be a threat. Amelia goes down from Orphne's Iron Head after I heal both her and Megaman X. I send out Corey, and Megaman X misses Orphne's Sucker Punch because I heal it. Kailen goes down from Corey's critical hit Poison Jab. Adrienn sends out Pryderi the Whimsicott, and it attacks Corey with Mist Ball, knocking him down. However, send out Charles after reviving him, and while Pryderi uses Tailwind, creating the Fairy Tale Field, making Charles' Heat Wave useless. I switch out Charles for Pierce, while after taking an X-Defend, Megaman X knocks out Pryderi with Meteor Mash. Adrienn sends out Orin the Togekiss, and it becomes a long battle of trying to stall Tailwind out. I keep healing both Pierce and Megaman X, while Megaman X has a X-Special Defend as well, eventually, Pierce goes down, which is fine, as they are slowed down from his Icy Wind, and the Tailwind goes away. I send out Auriol, who knocks Orin down in two Ice Punches, while Megaman X keeps beating down Orphne, who gets healed by Adrienn's Ultra Potions. Adrienn sends out Ryannon the shiny Reborn-themed Florges after Orphne knocks out Auriol with Iron Head. I send out Charles, and revive Corey while Orphne is finished off by Megaman X's Meteor Mash. Adrienn says that xe hasn't had a battle this exhilarating in years- even by xyr twisted timeline! Charles and Megaman both finish off Ryannon together with Strength and Meteor Mash, and with Adrienn's Fairy Tale Pokemon defeated, I win the battle! Adrienn knew xe was right about me, and walks over to me, saying that the champion keeps their throne for another day. Just then, a box appears, and xe tells me that inside contains two presents: the first being the Amaranth Badge, which Adrienn promises that all Pokemon up to Level 85 will listen to me faithfully. Furthermore, this badge slightly increases the Special Defense of all of my Pokemon, which isn't bad for a Champion to have. The second present is TM 99 Dazzling Gleam. After all, I've got the whole world to flash to, any why not be a bit flashy? Xe says that it's time to come back to reality, as there's still a lot of things to do for all of us. Victoria and xyr will take care of everything here in the city, but they're counting on me to take care of Team Meteor. Adrienn also reveals that just a little bit ago, xe was notified that Grandview Station has reopened. Although the tickets out of the region will probably sell out quickly, Adrienn has actually put in a special order with them for me. If I go there, I can go to Tourmaline Desert, no charge to me. If what xe heard is right, then not only is my next badge there, but also one of the crystal keys as well. It's best that I can get to all of those before Team Meteor does. Adrienn still has a lot of work to do, so xe takes her leave, but not before wanting me to know that this challenge has been a pleasure, and xe will always be cheering for me. Taking up Adrienn's word, I fly over to Peridot and find that Grandview Station has officially be reopened. I talk to the trainer outside, and he wonders what the champion is like. Too soon, my friend... Too soon... I head inside, and find a construction worker from the Reborn Construction Company, who says that after completing their last task, revitalizing the Railnet, they're raring up to hire up and take on even grander designs. He says if me or anyone I know is looking for a hands-on career to shape this city, they should apply. He hands me a few applications, and I head to 7th Street. I find Mannie first, and give him the construction application. He is happy to see a paying job, and goes to fill it out right away. I find DeFacto, and procure for him an application to Beryl Library. He is intrigued, and acquiesces to the idea of having a job there. He leaves, and I go find Pierce. I give him an application to Apophyll Academy, and he silently takes it and leaves for Apophyll. I find Razzy, and show him an application to Sweet Co. At first, he is bored at the idea, but then realizes it is connected to the Sweet Kiss Candy Shop, and remembers the Red-Hots his grandma used to make applesauce with. He readily accepts and leaves for Sweet Co., leaving all but Archer. I find Archer, and tell him everyone all has jobs now. He says it is just him left, and supposes he can find a marketable job. His strengths lie in team coordination, research and analysis. I show him the Silph Co. application, and he sees that it requires two years of management experience. He says that the Aqua Gang has been a profitable business, but re-brands the now-empty group to Aqua Incorporated. It will do, as he can is more than capable of brushing aside the details. He says the job will suit him perfectly, and he thanks me. He says I have been a true friend to them all, and gives me a final parting gift. He says it was a Pokemon they liberated from the Magma Gang, with the item its holding as a personal selection from him. He gives me a Litten, which I name Maxwell. He bids me farewell, and tells me not to mind if he uses me as a personal reference. I'm pretty sure he knows I'm the one saving Reborn... After he leaves, I breed Maxwell, and get myself a SHINY Litten after two eggs. I name the newborn Litten Aslan, and train him up to speed. I evolve Aslan into Torracat first, then Incineroar. After I train it, I decide to participate in the funding of making Reborn great again. I start by donating $60,000 for redevelopment in South Obsidia. This covers the project, and he'll let everyone know that it's been fully funded so they can work on it right away. However, since I am the sole proprietary founder for at least one project, they would like to extend to me their warmest thanks. Per policy, they would like to invite me to meet the employees who work so hard with my money to keep Reborn City thriving. Their employee area is in the basement below here, and as a premier modern founder, I will now be permitted access at will to it. All they ask is that I be courteous to the employees working there. They thank me again for always looking out for Reborn City, and they open their doors to me. What is this business, a Patreon business? Oh wait, it would be per month that I would have to pay $60,000 if it WAS a Patreon. I can't afford that, and I certainly could NEVER afford that in real life! However, I talk to one of the employees, who sees who I am, and reveals that Adrienn has given me access to the employee section ANYWAYS, so I didn't even have to pay for it! FUN! Oh well, I would have done so anyways from the bottom of my heart. Make Reborn Great Again! He apologizes for the miscommunication, and I head downstairs. I find Victoria, who is sitting at one of the desks down in the office. She's surprised that they let me in, not that that's a problem, as she could use the company. She finds herself completely exhausted from doing mind-numbing desk work, as she's used to being out there and moving her body. Giiiiiiirl, the way you say that suggests you've been working at the club... But I digress. All of this computer stuff is a drag for her, and she wonders how anyone can just sit here all day. Not only that, but the paperwork never ceases. She wonders if she should just call Julia and have her bring some of her strongest coffee. Even one of the employees also seems to try and get her out for coffee, but drinks can't solve the fact that she just misses her school. I learn that six more people are coming from the Kanto-Johto area, and wonder who they could be. The inspector has also been away again, vanishing every three months for the two he's there. I head to the inspection room, and find the Ampharosite sitting on a desk! I leave the room and talk to another employee, who discusses that the proposed Railnet would feature eight stations, one for each ward, but questions that placing one in Opal Ward is inefficient considering the water's placement and underground structure of the Grand Hall. He wonders if there is really a need for an Opal Station when Grandview is so close by. I go to Ame's old office and click a button at her computer. Next thing I know, the whole Grand Hall is filled with Alolan Vulpix! Not only that, but there is a whole room filled with them! Be free, my little snow fox friends!!! I also pick up the Lopunnite before leaving the Grand Hall. However, when I come back, I find the Alolan Vulpix have already flooded the halls. Even Victoria is counting Vulpix in her sleep! I head down to 7th Street again and enter the Subseven Sanctum again. When I use the key that Boo Boo Keys had, I enter a room that has a book, a few items, and six Arceus statues in no particular order: Green, Ruby, Amethyst, Gold, Sapphire, and Silver. Just what the hell is this room? I pick up the items, which are a Dark Material piece and Field Effect Readout 29, which is Holy Field. I then read the notebook that is on the table... "Place faith in the Lord, and so shall he in you." This must be Elias's journal... Very well, I will read on. "Place animosity upon the Lord, and so shall he upon you. This lesson is not an easy one to learn. Some will never fully grasp it. Many will only pretend to. Today, I would like to share with you the story of how I came to learn this." Yup, this is definitely his journal. "I was born to the purpose of Arceus, but I was born blind. Growing up as a boy with no sight in a world like this is no easy task, but of course, I learned to take care of myself. For some time, that was the only thing I could be proud of. My family was an old one, back from the days when Reborn City was no more than a village around a crater, both of which are since lost underground." Is he from the same group as Solaris...? "When first Arceus' birthplace crashed upon our world, one family set about enshrining it. They would protect it from the world so that its purity might remain ever intact. This was their life's calling. And this was not my family. Mine came years later, and, finding light in their purpose, swore to serve that family. So it came to be that each generation of my house served theirs. Until it came to me, a defective blind child, who would do more harm than good as a servant. The man to whom I should have been sworn was born some ten years after me. His name was Solaris." YUP, THIS MAKES A LOT OF SENSE NOW. "He was a raucous youth, never quite satisfied with his life's charge of protecting an old monument. As I understand, for most of his life he resented this purpose, lashing out, as many of the young do, against Arceus." If Solaris hated Arceus so much back then, then why does he have such religious goals? "I could understand his feelings. Why, I asked myself, if Arceus is so great, should he have made me this way? Why did I have to suffer? Why did I have to serve? As it turned out, Solaris would be the one to show me the answer. A failed vassal, I dared not approach him, and though our fathers were close, mine never allowed me to see the young master as I was growing up. It was not until I was well into a miserable adulthood that we first met. Solaris knew of me, of course. He knew my family was due by lineage to serve his, and he had heard of the blind man, whom others had deemed unfit for his presence. And, as he did with all things, he rebelled. He offered his hand to me. I took it with an oath of servitude." So THIS is how he joined Solaris... "This was not a chance I should have been given. So, I pushed myself as hard as I could to try and have value to my master. But both of us were lordless, lawless men. He had no purpose to serve but fighting his own, and we found common ground therein. Nevertheless, Arceus would reach us eventually. For many years, Solaris questioned, 'Just what does the meteor need to be protected from?' It was already locked up with the four crystal keys. And who would want to defile some old rock anyway? This was a lesson he learned the hard way, when his parents were both killed by an assailant seeking those very keys. The young master was too late to save them, but just in time to avenge them. So he bludgeoned the man who had claimed the keys until his arms were too battered to hold on to them anymore, And until his lips were too loose to keep secrets. 'Why?!', Solaris cried, over and over. The assailant would tell him rumours he had never believed, of a great power locked within the meteor, lying dormant for years. Whether it was true or not, the thief believed it, and so he grasped at it. 'Why?!', Solaris continued to cry. And so he said, on and on until daybreak, thrashing against the culprit's body for long after there was any soul still there to know it. He was no longer asking anyone other than himself. Why had he refused to listen to his parents? Why had he not seen the danger they were in? Why could he not save them? And believing that he had led to the death of his own parents, For the first time, he strode forward to meet his life's purpose. The Lord will punish those who lack faith. This is what is to be learned from Solaris' tale." Holy shit... Solaris is Holy Batman, and Elias is Alfred. That's at least what the story feels like to me. It does explain why Solaris became extremely religious. "My own awakening came a number of years later. When my master walked the path of the Lord, so naturally did I have to as well. I would follow my friend, but in regards to faith, my service was half-hearted. Solaris recognized this, and one day confronted me about it. After some discussion, he offered the Emerald Key he should have himself vanguarded with his life, in return for my faith. He wished for me not just to serve him, but to personally share his burden. I accepted this, and resolved to place every ounce of my trust in the Lord, and my friend. When I awoke the next morning, the key still clutched tightly against my chest, I was assaulted by a phenomenon I had never experienced before. Lights, dazzling colors, shapes so blurred I could scarcely recognize the forms I was so used to navigating around otherwise. Sight. There are no words to describe the feeling of seeing my master's face for the first time. Or that of seeing my own face. That of finally being able to really understand what words like 'golden' and 'light' meant. Before, they were just dreams, but I knew that the Lord-- and my trust in him-- had made it real. The Lord will reward those with true faith." This is what is to be learned from Elias' tale. This is how he gained sight, and how he serves not only his master and friend Solaris but Arceus as well. "It has been many years since then. I am constantly assaulted with sorrow and worry for the sake of my daughter, and for his son both. I do not wish them to receive any such punishment as my friend did. I wish them both all the blessings of the Lord they have turned from. I fear, too, for each of you. Though less so, than for each of the heretics above. The city's miserable state is no doubt a result of its divergence from the Lord. Therefore, I implore you, Please, trust in Arceus. Please, guide others to trust in Arceus. Under the Lord's light, may we all see bright futures. Thank you." Holy shit... I'm gonna place my thoughts at the end of the chapter, but damn, that was a lot to take in. As I leave the sanctum, I hear that it is time for worship, even though nobody is here. I leave, and decide to look for Corey's Pokemon. I fly to Beryl Ward, and go to Citrine Mountain, where I find... another Croagunk. Unlike the other, this is actually his Croagunk this time. It sees the silver ring and joins me in obedience. I find a Smoochum in the mountain as well, under attack by an angry Beartic. I beat it with my team, and Smoochum clings to me, joining my team. I head to Beryl Cave, where I find Corey's Nidorina beating its head furiously at a wall in a cage. It sees the silver ring, and joins my team in obedience as well. I then fly to Agate Circus, go all the way down to Celestinine Mountain, and enter Citrine Mountain from that side. I move a boulder with Charles' Strength and find Corey's Skuntank guarding something. Although it is bored, it sees the silver ring and challenges me to fight. I catch it and grab the silver card it was guarding. With that all said and done, I fly to Beryl Ward. I enter Corey's gym and then go in his room. I see a card slot, and scan the silver card, opening a secret door. I go into the secret room where I find his study, which has a purple machine and a blue machine. I find a Toxic Orb on the desk, but I also find his journal on the desk... "For Heather, By the time you read this, you will be strong. I was not raised to be strong. I was raised to be naive, and I suffered for it. I shall not make this same mistake with you. Reality is cruel. This, I learned the hard way. This, you have grown to learn from the second you were born. I told you long ago how she passed. I did not mention who was responsible for it. Team Meteor sought to cleanse the city and restore it to its former heritage-- a holy site. To this end, they take no prisoners. I joined their ranks to sabotage them. Specifically, I sought the head of the man who killed your mother. He was after an artifact I foolishly bestowed upon her. He saw her life as a small price to pay for it. I will see to it that he pays what's due in his own blood. If you will join me, I will have you. It is your right as her daughter. The man ended her life in poison. When I discovered her IV was laced, I struck out. One of the few things I can still take pride in is that man's scream as he pulled the syringe from his bleeding eye. He lived, but his wound is a mark on his life. Since then, I coveted the venom that ended your mother Elena's dear life. From it, I have made poisons to corrupt. Poisons to control. And poisons to deliver retribution upon the guilty. My beautiful daughter, we will settle this together." So the one who killed Elena is... Sirius. Not only was he the one who burned down Belrose Manor, but... he also killed Corey's wife and Helen's mother... He is the reason Corey committed suicide. I'll go into more detail at the end as usual, but when I find Sirius again, he'll get what he deserves. I leave Corey's gym and fly down to Peridot Ward. After all the lore bombs that were dropped, I think I'm ready to head to the newly rebuilt Grandview Station. Time to go to Tourmaline Desert! With that said, I hop on the train and reflect in my thoughts over everything I just learned today... Trevore's End Chapter Thoughts HOLY SHIT, a lot went down. I just thought that Solaris and Elias were nut cases, but they actually do care about their world, and I kinda do feel bad that Lin took over Team Meteor. Do I think their actions are morally good? Probably not, but I know that they do have hearts somewhere. I respect their goals, however, as I think that their goal for restoring the old world is noble in its own right. I mean, Lin just wants to use Arceus for her own purpose, you just want to worship Him again. Same with Elias. He GAINED SIGHT just by believing in Arceus and Solaris, who WILLINGLY GAVE HIM THE EMERALD KEY. If this isn't a beautiful Batman-Alfred relationship, then I don't know what it is. Not only is Solaris kind to Elias, but he BECAME HIS FRIEND. Nobody wanted anything to do with Elias, except for him. I applaud that Elias is not only loyal to Solaris to the end, but Solaris is also loyal to Elias, and they BELIEVE in each other. What were once two lordless, lawless men were now both servants of Arceus. Corey also went through a lot too... When Elena died, he joined Team Meteor to PROTECT her and the Ruby Ring, not to help them. He joined to sabotage their schemes, and who knows, maybe he had a plan to sabotage the PULSE-Tangrowths? I think he is not a villain at all, but rather, a hero to some degree. As for Sirius... may he burn in hell once I get my hands on him. He killed for the Ruby Ring, the Sapphire Bracelets, and he somehow knows Anna and Noel's father? Why are you after these keys? Why are you always the one who ends up killing for them? School has been beating me up, so I haven't had much time to do anything, but now that I have a better laptop, things will run much more smoothly.
