Egg moves not relearnable

So I traded for an alolan vulpix which has the (egg) moves hypnosis, moonblast, freeze-dry and extrasensory. So when trying to relearn for extrasensory or freeze-dry I found out that they weren't available for relearning. I haven't been able to test for the other two but I think it will be the same.

Yes, that's true. I've tested it many, many times, and it's been the problem for ages... You also can't relearn a move if your Pokemon learned it in a previous evolution and evolved afterwards.

e.g. Your Lotad learns Giga Drain, and then you evolve it into Lombre/Ludicolo. You accidentally teach Ludicolo something and replace Giga Drain. Giga Drain isn't relearnable.

I don't know if it's intended to work this way or if it's a bug (maybe the expert, @walpurgis knows more about that) , but it's certainly not practical at all (e.g. if you wanna try alternative movesets).

(im not an expert at all T.T)

I looked a bit into the scripts and apparently (if i'm not wrong) the move relearner is set to be able to teach your pokemon all the level up moves up to your pokemon level + the four moves a pokemon initially had which are defined upon hatching, so maybe that gets reset or deleted when you trade or evolve your pokemon (?)

@Jess The Lotad example is intentional: some moves can only be learned by prior evolutions, such as Spore for Breloom and Earthquake (not sure if it still applies for Gen VII) for Flygon.

Now, moving on to the egg moves: maybe that's only happening with Gen VII mons...I'll test it out later and edit this reply.

@HUEnd Isn't it a bit silly though? To train Lotad all the way up to Giga Drain/Energy Ball so that your Ludicolo has it, and lose it due to some misclick?

I mean, as a Ludicolo it knew Giga Drain. Then it forgets it for good? It's RELEARNING! It should be able to learn it again, if it knew it in this evolution stage at one moment...

Also, for Egg moves, I've checked it with my Encore Whimsicott. It's for all 'mons.
