[Corrupted]{TypeError, "incompatible marshal file format(Can't be read

Hello, i have seen only one other user with this problem, the {TypeError, "incompatible marshal file format(Can't be read)\n\tformat version 4.8 required; 0.0 given" problem, after hitting okay 3 times it gives me : [EOFError, "End of file reached" , {"Section058:2069: in 'oldload'"/ after hitting okay 5 times the loading screen appears but will not take me to my save file, instead it gives me Script "Pokemon Load" line 289: NoMethodError ocured
I have deleted that file and re-downloaded the game, it gave me the same exact error. i had modded the game with the basic mods you can download off this site but i had removed them and have not added them to the new downloaded file. Is there anything that can fix this?

If you go to C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\Pokemon Reborn*** you'll find, in case you had the back-ups activated, a single file called game and a lot of files with your in-game name, time and number of badges. If this is the case just delete the file called game and rename as game the most recent of those files.

 

***(alternatively to find the folder just put game.rxdata in the search bar of the start menu and then right click to the file, open location and then just to make sure check that the name of the folder is called Pokemon Reborn)

i could not find the file, even after re-downloading the game, would the error have anything to do with this though?

No, that's not the file. Search for the game.rxdata file. It has to be somewhere because it's the file that stores your progress in the game and without it you would only find the new game option when you opened the game and never an error of that type.

I found it, but the last save file is from September, basically the episode 16 file which i have updated to 17, even after deleting the existing game.rxdata file and replacing the most recent save it is still the same error unfortunatley

I guess that when you update to E17 from E16 the back-up option is by default off. Try loading an even older file and if it doesn't work either then I don't know what else you can do aside from restarting the game from the beginning. I recommend that you also rescue the first file and instead of deleting it just rename it in case there's something else I'm missing that could trigger that error and maybe one of the mods has a solution for you, but I think that your save file is corrupted.

Thank you so much for the help! unfortunately for it to work I had to delete all other save files for it to load but its now working again, guess i have to start over ^^ goodbye hard grind shinies..
