Lightningrod redirection from teammate

I was fighting in a double battle against the meteor duo that tries to steal the Igglybuff in peridot ward. Opponent's pokemon are a Duskul and a Cubone my side had Elekid and Tynamo and later Blitzle took Elekid's place. I used an electric attack with my Elekid on Duskul forgeting completely that Cubone can have Lightningrod and the move was redirected normally. So I tried to focus down on Cubone to take it out fast and managed it in exchange of my Elekid. So I sent out my Blitzle that also has Lightningrod for its ability. So I was facing Duskul with Blitzle and Tynamo and used 2 electric attacks on it. While Blitzle's attack landed like normally my Tynamo's attack should have gotten redirected to my Blitzle and raise its SP. Att but it instead it hit Duskul like normally.

So since in the same battle while Lightningrod redirected normally opposing attacks it seems it can't redirect electric attacks from the same side
