[Resolved]Critical Error C0000005 at address 5EF53990

Greetings,

 

I am new to this game and this forum, I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum.

 

I downloaded Pokemon Reborn v16.2, extracted it, run it. It was working initially until at some point after I battled one guy near the dirty river that has a Snivy (the crash happened not during the battle but sometime after it), when it crashed with the message in the title (Critical Error C0000005 at address 5EF53990). I tried running it again but it simply crashed immediately (see screenshot).

 

I deleted the whole game folder, then re-extracted the folder from the original downloaded file, did not work. I deleted my save folder, did not work. I restarted the computer, also did not work.
Desperate measures: emptied the recycle bin, re-downloaded the game, did not work.

 

I basically have a clean slate because I deleted everything before extracting the new game folder. I'm wondering whether there is some other files or folders being generated beside the game and save folder?

Following the guidelines here, in case it needs to be explicitly stated, I did not use any mods or did any online battle.

Try redwnloading the game again, and moving save files from your saved games folder. On which disc partition did yoou play the game on? I'm not sure exactly what is causing this error

I redownloaded the game from a different mirror and extracted it into different folder (still in the same disk partition) and now it works! Even with the old save files.

Not sure what the problem was though, I hope it does not appear again.
