Pyrous Mountain Absol Event

Okay, so I'm playing through from the beginning because -- yay, first time player! However, I have dug a good bit into the eventing for educational purposes and for working on a personal project for Reborn. In any case, I got to the Pyrous Mountain events after rescuing Cain at Azurine, and upon reaching the top was rather... confused as to why the Absol event wasn't triggering. Near as I could tell, it should have been. My variables were all set correctly, but then I noticed the odd second event page which was "overriding" the initial trigger to activate it when you go to the Pyrous Mountain peak the second time.

 

The first event page set everything up to activate the event for the Meteor takeover (variable value 7 for 118 E7 Story), but the next event page had priority over the first and since the story was well past the content for E5 (variable value 8 for 104 E5 Story), it was simply... not triggering, ever. I rearranged the event to put the E5 requirement first, and low and behold! The event triggered.  Simply deleting the offending E5 variable requirement will also correctly trigger/not trigger the event.

 

I'm not even sure why this requirement is here (or you know, if the Absol event is even supposed to run anymore), but I thought I'd bring it to ya'lls attention as this is something that someone would generally only know through both playing from very early and knowing about the nitty gritty of various events in the game.

 

Attached are some mostly correct save files that you can use to verify this.  One is pre-Cal battle (unfortunately after getting out onto the peak) and the other is immediately before going onto the peak for the Meteor confrontation.
