[E18] Un-stuck Me! The save file fixing thread

But I know that it probably isn't completely deleted, from me going to the file with the rxdatas in it and seeing my save file. 1912 - Joseph - 94h 26m - 14 badges.rxdata I have no idea if this can be fixed, but I'm sure if it's possible, It's a simple transport from one file to another, which I already tried, but couldn't find a correct file to transport it to. I would really appreciate if I could get some help on this, because I really don't want to lose the save that I have pretty much everything on.

Have you tried locating your most recent save files? If the one you linked is your main, you just need to change it's name to "Game.rxdata" and boot up like usual.

Next time you want to trade between save files, though, I'd recommend duplicating your save files beforehand

For me, it doesn't seem as simple as that, both of my files (1st and 7th files) are the exact same now. (With the 7th being the one that was copied) The save itself seems to exist, but I don't know how to go about getting it back.

I think this is the topic for this, sorry if I'm wrong.

 

I just made it to Ametrine City (The mountaintop one if I have the name wrong), and have just dealt with the house with the diary. Shelly ran off to confront Blake, and I am now supposed to meet the two of them in his apartment. When I enter, there's nobody there.

 

By looking at video walkthroughs, it seems that he's supposed to be at his gaming console and Shelly should be back one square and a few to the right, but there's just flat-out nobody in the apartment.

 

I'm unsure what all I need to give you guys in terms of information and whatnot, this is the first time the game's ever given me issues.

Do you have backups enabled? If so, you should get a ton of saves on the reborn folder. If your main isn't there, maybe you can find the save just before that (sort by date created might help you out).

I believe I have them enabled. The thing I linked on my first post,1912 - Joseph - 94h 26m - 14 badges.rxdata is the most recent save, I just need to go about maybe attaching it to a new save, so I can have this back.

But it isn't the main file you lost, right? I don't think there's a way to retrieve lost saves, but I'm hoping the one you attached isn't too far into the past...

(I also recently lost my main file, so I know the feeling T_T)

I didn't quite understand what you meant by "attaching it to a new save" - can't you just open the save by renaming it?

Ah, I see what you mean now. (And yes, it was the main file that I lost, not too disappointed though, I still have a secondary file that is already up to scale with my main file) I'll try renaming the thing I linked to game.rxdata, though I'll be surprised if it works.

(Just now tried it, didn't work.)

EDIT: What I meant by attaching it to a new save was to possibly make a new save file, and getting the thing I linked to replace it, which in my theory, get my save back.

If what you wanted to do was open the file, I did, and this is where you were:

Now if you wanted to do something tech-complicated, I think I'll have to baton pass to a mod here :/

What happened after you opened the file, did the game itself work and all that? If so that would be great.

(The best part about this all is I was just trying to trade a Nidoran M over to my other file to get a Nidoking, but I guess I ended up low-key deleting a file and never getting the Nidoran over.)

I know that this is probably a dumb question, but when I click on the thing you just now sent me, and open it, I just see a bunch of code from the game, how do I get the actual game to run from this?

Place the file you downloaded into your Pokemon Reborn folder (the one that contains a bunch of folders like Graphics, Audio and such, and also has the .exe file in)

Then double-click on the .exe file, and it should be running properly.

Make sure there's not another Game.exe file in the folder prior to moving it in though (because you'd need to replace one of them)

Man, I must be pretty bad at this, because I move it into the reborn file, (The one with the Graphics, Audio, and all that) Is there a certain spot I move it, like inside Data, because it's on the same data page as the game itself, and the Graphics, Audio, others.

Maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

I download the game.rxdata file you send me

I drag it through the file explorer

I go to downloads

I put it inside Reborn 16.2

Do I keep it as it is, outside of the Pokemon Reborn file

Or do I put it inside the Pokemon Reborn file?

When I put it inside the Pokemon Reborn file after putting it in Reborn 16.2 it doesn't do anything as if starting a new game (This is the file with Data, Audio, Graphics etc.)

Would it work if I put it inside the Saved Games: Pokemon Reborn file?

Put it in that folder. I use a mac, so maybe the place where savefiles are located is a little different in windows.

I've already tried to do that, and I'm completely sure that will work, but since I'm pretty bad at simple computer mechanics, I can't find a way to drag it to Saved Games, and into Pokemon Reborn

What about right clicking on the Game.rxdata file I uploaded, selecting copy, and then going to Saved Games > Pokemon Reborn and pasting it there?
