Kanto: Lance

He didn't really have any dragon types and I had no way to prepare for him. I don't remember what my team was but I know it got blown back by Lance a lot.

He had two Dragonair and a Dragonite.

Kanto: Agatha- got tired of her confuse ray shenanigans

Johto: Bruno- His pokemon were just brutal to me most of the time.

Hoenn: Drake- was the only difficult one for me, more so for my first run of Ruby. After that though, he's not so bad.

Sinnoh: Lucian- kinda the same reasoning as Drake, although to this day whenever I do a run of gen 4, that Bronzong still annoys me due to my lack of fire most of the time.

Unova: Marshal- He loves the move retaliate, and with some of his pokemon being a bit bulky, there can be a bit of trouble.

Kalos: Siebold- I swear, I think Siebold was the only trainer to make any of my pokemon faint at all during my run through Kalos. His Clawitzer is scary and his Gyarados, if left unchecked will set up on you.

POOR Sydney

Kanto had to be Agatha with her Toxic, Confuse Ray, Double Team Gengars... I probably struggled the most with her than anyone else.

Johto was Karen. her houndoom especially gave me a hard time.

Hoenn was Drake. His Dragons and coverage messed up the momentum i built through.

Sinnoh was definitely Lucian gave me the biggest headache through my first couple of runs.

Unova was Shauntal suprised not that many people had trouble with her... though it's probably just because I'm bad against ghost type teams...

Kalos didn't give me any trouble. Siabold definitely took the longest though

Shame that Phoebe only has 6 votes so far. Her Dusclops are the absolute PP Eaters, Protect + Pressure drains your PPs rapidly, on top of the Full Restores. You may not lose to Phoebe, but her mark on your team will show as you fight the rest of the E4s and Wallace/Steven.

I really struggled to get past her, but that was when I was young and didn't really understand the types. I just tried to go all out with Groudon and then use the rest of the team to simply help him recover since my Sceptile was left with two HMs and no STAB move until I ran out of cash to buy more revives. I hated when she used curse as I saw how the team just went away on residual damage.

Kanto was simpler since I played Yellow and having Zard, Blastoise, Venasaur and Pikachu made things easier.

Johto was a piece of cake with Espeon and his shadow ball and some help from Lugia... Although in Gen IV I had a very good time as I only had Feraligatr, Ampharos and Espeon in sufficient level as I categorically refuse to grind.

Sinnoh and Unova were jokes against my Lucario-Weavile-Espeon core.

Kalos was a piece of cake even without the use of Exp Share and without using traded pokemon. Delphox, Lucario, Sylveon and Luxray will take you wherever you need to go.

Updated the poll with Alola's E4.

Acerola was the hardest for me, because I lacked good coverage for some of her team whereas I had enough for the other three for them to not be a problem.

Out of alola's E4 olivia was the hardest. For all the crap people talked about nightruff, that thing HITS HARD with its Z-move andhas a good chance of OHKOing anything that doesn't resist it or is mimikyu. She has has sturdy mons on team which is annoying when she heals them to full.

I think Kahili is pretty tough too. Her ace(toucanon) hits extremely hard and like lycanroc will likely one shot unresisted mons when using its z-move. She also utilizes a lot of confuse hax with oricorio and crobat, both of whom can be annoying to deal with. Anyone else really like her hair?

Hala isn't too bad(easier than Marshal at least) and Acerola is the easiest of the 4 as her pokemon don't hit as hard as the others.
