Code: PIRULUK 5
Serious talk, for this season I'm watching: Keijo Hibike Euphonium S2 Brave Witches Shuumatsu no Izetta Gi(a)rlish Number Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku Shoushin Shoujo Matoi Flip Flappers Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans S2 Lostorage Infected WIXOSS Of these, probably the best ones IMO are Gundam, Hibike, Izetta, Gi(a)rlish. Gi(a)rlish Number so far seems to be a meta cynical take on the seiyuu industry, so that's always fun to watch. Hibike!! Euphonium in general is amazing, and I highly reccommend the first season. Izetta is great for anyone with an interest in military history: the weapons are all period-accurate, which are always a plus. Also the animation is gorgeous and the girls are cute. So far the Princess is a bit too perfect though. But at least she's powerless, so it doesn't quite cross the line into wish fulfillment. Tekketsu no Orphans is amazing and I reccommend it to everyone, even if you're not a Gundam fan. Mari Okada is amazing as always, and Tekketsu no Orphans has great characterisation and worldbuilding. As for the other shows, the ones that show promise are Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku (MahoIku) and maybe Lostorage Infected WIXOSS. MahoIku is interesting, I thought it would be another dark mahou shoujo series for the post-Madoka paradigm, but it's a bit different. The concerns the characters possess are different and there are some really interesting character dynamics going on. Very excited for this one.
Hiss13 1
Tekketsu no Orphans is amazing and I reccommend it to everyone, even if you're not a Gundam fan. Mari Okada is amazing as always, and Tekketsu no Orphans has great characterisation and worldbuilding. That reminds me...I have to finish watching Season 1. I stopped like a third of the way through... As for what I'm watching: Bungou Stray Dogs S2 Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku JJBA Part 4 (A Carry over) Flip Flappers Vivid Strike!! Lostorage Incited WIXOSS Right now, I would highly recommend Bungou. Season 1 was solid. But, the first arc of Season 2 was absolutely amazing. BONES went all out with the adaptation of Dazai Osamu and the Dark Era, though I plan to read the translation for that volume very soon. Flip Flappers is great for the visuals. Seriously, the visuals and the sense of absurdity give this series a really fun atmosphere.
Code: PIRULUK 5
How's Vivid Strike, btw? It's an original story, right?
Global Mods Simon 38 Posted October 26, 2016 Global Mods Share Posted October 26, 2016 I'm not really watching anything this season besides Jojo. Mainly looking forward to the next season.
Hiss13 1
How's Vivid Strike, btw? It's an original story, right? It's more like Vivid if it were closer to the original Nanoha. That's the best way I could describe it. Still more of a martial arts bent like Vivid was but it has the same feel as the original Nanoha... That being said, while the Vivio-Einhart dynamic was pretty much the Nanoha-Fate dynamic played straight, the Fuuka-Rinne dynamic feels much more fresh and a bit more twisted. It's like people saying: Vivid Strike feels like a soft reboot of the Nanoha franchise.
Eloquent Liar 1
Yuri!! On Ice is a strong contender for best anime of this season. I'd say my hype for Bungou Stray Dogs outweighs it, but I'm actually very disappointed that they animated the light novel for the first arc of the second cour. It would have been better as a standalone OVA- I don't want to think about how much they're going to cut from the Guild arc because of those episodes used for Dark Era, especially since the Guild arc is already so long as it is. Or maybe I'm just salty that they're going to inevitably push back my favorite character into a third season/cour (if it even happens) just to make room for mafia Dazai and Soukoku vs C'thulu. Izetta and Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku are both on my to-watch list; Izetta because it gives off a very distinct FMA meets Kiki's Delivery Service vibe, and MHIK because I was a sucker for Madoka back in the day and it sounds just as heartwrenching and violent. Maelstrom 312
Yuri!! On Ice is a strong contender for best anime of this season. This. I'm gonna start MS Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans season 1 because someone I know actually cosplayed a character for Halloween so it got me curious. Anybody know anything about it? Other than that season two is airing this season.
Felix~ 240
This. I'm gonna start MS Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans season 1 because someone I know actually cosplayed a character for Halloween so it got me curious. Anybody know anything about it? Other than that season two is airing this season. It's pretty solid, standard gundam. Space battles, mechs, politics, themes of friendship and family and so on. Honestly It's just very high quality. MSIK is arguably more violent than Madoka. But it's pretty different from Madoka. Don't go in expecting something similar, i.e. a deconstruction of the genre. It's good, but not good in the same way that Madoka was good. In fact, it's closer to Danganronpa than to Madoka. (I'm loving it btw) Izetta has gorgeous animation. Not Hibike!! Euphonium/KyoAni - level gorgeous, but gorgeous. It also has a good cast and an interesting premise. And PERIOD-ACCURATE MILITARY EQUIPMENT. My only gripe with the show so far is that Fine (one of the main pair) is currently a bit of a Sue when it comes to princessing - more or less perfect in every way and has the adulation of her people. However, I'm expecting this to change in the near future as she's forced to make more tough decisions. It's pretty solid, standard gundam. Space battles, mechs, politics, themes of friendship and family and so on. Honestly It's just very high quality. Careful. It's standard UC Gundam, not so much for SEED and onwards. People expecting to see laser beams everywhere will be sorely disappointed, since it's a Real Robot series, not a Super Robot one. But it is EXTREMELY high quality and has (imo) the best OP of the season. It's also written by Mari Okada, who did the writing for shows like AnoHana, Kiznaiver, Gosick and ToraDora. It's far heavier on the politics than SEED or 00 were, imo, and to me that's a good thing, but that may put some people off, idk.
Helios2 0
So many sweet gore and violence series this season. Drifters is already pretty good the ppl that die there are just statist though, while mahou shoujo ikusei tops the gore with psychological impact. Occultic Nine is more of a mystery series, but pretty brutal nontheless (todays episode for example), the "protagonist" is super annoying though. Bloodivores is kind of there too, but pretty meh in the story department and characterization wouldnt really recommend it. Other then that Izetta is pretty good too.
5hift 78
Drifters is the fuckin bomb. Was a huuuuuuge fan of Hellsing Ultimate so you can only how excited I was when I heard they were making an anime adaptation. And it's ****ing spot on, hell even the dub isn't too shabby. Gore 10
Watched the following fall 2016 shows: - Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku Spoiler other than having some pretty brutal death scenes, this show is a huge pile of trash - Lostorage Incited WIXOSS Spoiler gave me cancer, but not as bad as the magical girls one - Keijo Spoiler - Occultic;Nine Spoiler My personal favorite this season, loved every bit of it from the brilliant directing to the presentation. Best mystery anime this year (probably the only real mystery show too). Also one of the best sci-fi anime of this decade, in my opinion. Man, the guy who wrote this is a god, he totally gets the sci-fi genre and is one of the few persons that understand that you can have as much "fiction" you want in a sci-fi show as long as you invest enough in the science part of it. Sci-fi wannabe garbage shows like gakusen toshi asterisk and kiznaiver can't even come close to being as good as this one. Only other shows I had seen mastering the sci-fi genre this well before were shinsekai yori and steins;gate. El Psy Kongroo What seemed to be the biggest complaint people had with this anime was the fast paced dialogue, but that didn't affect me much. I normally have trouble keeping up with fast paced dialogue, seeing as I couldn't enjoy the monogatari series or the tatami galaxy, and I didn't have any problems whatsoever following up with the story this anime had to tell. Great overall. Cost me a few brain cells but was worth it. Also, cgi tits because yes. I also plan to eventually watch 3-gatsu no lion, drifters, ajin 2nd season and iron-blooded orphans 2nd season when I have time. Other than those, nothing seemed too important to me this season. When it comes to winter 2017 anime, I'm mostly interested in ao no exorcist 2, chaos;child, hand shakers, masamune-kun no revenge and akiba's trip. I also expect good things from konosuba 2 and the new gintama, but I won't be watching those since I didn't watch the prequels yet.
