Strength Freezing in Mystery Bridge

I just picked up the Yureyu key on the mystery bridge, and on my way down I pushed a boulder into the hole to return to the start of the ladder and hole puzzle. After I do this, my character freezes next to the ladder and is unable to move. Thankfully, I saved before doing this and if you avoid pushing the boulder into that specific hole, the game won't freeze. Still, I don't know if this is a final step to continuing the puzzle or if it was an unforeseen bug.
