Hisar 0 Posted December 27, 2015 Share Posted December 27, 2015 The was some talk of this puzzle in the dev AMA, and I figured I wouldn't derail that topic and would post here instead. I'm pretty sure a puzzle in the following configuration: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 2 0 is unsolvable, where the number indicates the number of turns away from solved the piece is. Obviously, any tile combination that can be gotten to from that would would also be unsolvable. This type of puzzle generates about 50% of the time for me (I have some screen shots if needed), but I didn't post about it because I wasn't sure if I was just stupid, and since it worked the next time I tried it I stopped thinking about it. DashingStorm 3 Posted December 27, 2015 Share Posted December 27, 2015 If you're confused on what a solved puzzle should look like, go into your Reborn folder, then Graphics, followed by Pictures and you'll see a folder named "Tile Puzzle". I'm not 100% sure, but pretty convinced that all puzzles can be solved regardless of how they start. Link to post Share on other sites

But about 50% of the time, I end up with something like the above configuration, where two adjacent edge tiles are flipped twice. I'm pretty sure it's mathematically impossible to solve from there, but I haven't taken the time to prove it. I was wondering if someone knew the solution, otherwise I'll try to prove it's impossible and figure out how not to generate those puzzles. I've been fiddling with it for a while since I posted this and while I've been able to transform it into other nearly solved puzzles, I haven't been able to actually solve it.
