PvtHunter 0
Hey , I've been trying for over a week now to get Pokemon Reborn running on my Macbook Pro. I've followed these instructions http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8815 but get stuck at step 3. I installed Wine(bottler) 1.6, dragged it into my applications folder and tried opening the game.exe file with it but my mac just won't open the "pop-up"-files. It checks Wine , loads for a while and stops doing anything else. If I try it again I get a 1712 error "Can't open Wine" or smth like that. Can someone help me? I guess my poke file is ok but my wine is corrupted... Grtz
Tacos 205
Do you have any screenshots I could lack at to help me devise a solution? Screenshots of the error message, the contents of your Reborn folder, and perhaps proof that you're opening game.exe specifically with wine would be especially helpful. Also, by "pop-up-files", do you mean the pop up windows I refer to in step 3, or is it something else?
PvtHunter 0
Hey , I'll try to make some screenshots tomorrow and place em here. When I talk about the pop-ups, I mean the ones in step 3 yeah. All I did so was download the Reborn15.zip, unpack it , download Wine(bottler), drag both wine + the bottler in my Applications, crtl/clocked the game.exe file and opened it with Wine (standard) :/ Grt
Tacos 205
Alright, I don't see anything that you're doing wrong at this point, so I guess it's up to the screenshots at this point. Have you tried opening Wine in your Applications folder before trying to open the game.exe with it?
PvtHunter 0
Wine doesnt wanna open , no
Tacos 205
That's interesting... Perhaps try deleting Wine and Winebottler, redownload it (1.6.1, or the latest version, your decision), and see if it will work.
PvtHunter 0
Uhm, already redownloaded both wine(bottler) + pokemon file itself. Didnt seem to work -.-
Tacos 205
Well... this is definitely a unique scenario. Tell me, when you try to open Wine, does a wine glass like this appear near the top of your screen? If so, I'd like you to click on it and let me know if it mentions anything about a "prefix"? Or I guess the Swedish translation of prefix.
PvtHunter 0
No glass appears at the top, and it's dutch btw
Tacos 205
My apologies there. What operating system are you running?
PvtHunter 0
10.8.
Tacos 205
10.8.5 It might be because you're a bit behind on your updates then. Are you able to update? Because if so, that might be why, not 100% sure though.
ReddestDream 0
-1712 is some kind of timeout error. PvtHunter, could you try restarting your Mac? There's more information about this error here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4069867 Wine and WineBottler supposedly support 10.8, but updating wouldn't be a bad idea if you could . . .
