Sheep 27
So a while ago now I played through the whole game again, and as you can probably expect from me I have a whole lot of bugs to deliver. I've taken a look through the known list first, and if I repost known information then I apologise. Also, it's no understatement to say that this is a pretty big list, so feel free to take a snack break half way through. This is largely because I reserve the right to be very picky, from my perspective it's better to have a net that's far too fine than one that's even a little to coarse. With that in mind don't be surprised to find stuff that you don't think is worth fixing/not a problem at all. Of course none of this is me tearing into your game, and all of it is me trying to help. Shelly in her gym battle and Sirius in the Yureyu building don’t have any final pokemon text. This may be something to do with double battles, though I didn’t note down Aya or Radomus lacking it. That may just be me missing it in those cases. In the puzzle with all of the caged pokemon the text for the Abra waking up sometimes won’t display. I think this has to do with which cage the Loudred is in, and I think the Abra still wakes up regardless. I might be wrong though, my memory’s a bit hazy on this one. Mud Shot (like Bulldoze) says that the sticky web slowed the pokemon down after using it. Dunno if this one was known, but it can't hurt. The type changing ability in the crystal field doesn’t seem to be working as intended. I’ve used power gem well over 50 times and never got a psychic typing. Additionally every time the Arceus used judgment on my Dragalge it was resisted, and I replayed that fight a fair few times. In short it looks like the other three types work but psychic doesn’t. One gym trainer in Shelly’s gym has an Illumise that is a bad level. The level up movepool has caused it to have no attacking moves. Both the Magma gang leader, and the generic Techies are dark skinned in their in battle sprite but light skinned in their overworld sprite. In case it isn’t true for all Techies the ones I observed were in Blacksteam Factory and the Route 1 research centre. There’s a computer in Blacksteam Factory that refuses to go black after you use it, thus not really giving you much indication that it’s worked. I think it removes one of the barriers in front of the PULSE Muk. I love what you’ve done with making type enhancing items more available throughout the story but there are a few cases where there are more than one available. Don’t know if that’s an issue but I figured I’d report it anyway. Two black belts, one at Apophyll Academy, and the other in the Pancham Playground. Two rose incenses and one miracle seed, one from the Aroma Lady in the Peridot Ward, one in Laura’s garden, and one of Azurine Island. Two Silver Powders, the only one I remember is the one in Bennett’s room. Two Poison Barbs, the only one I remember is the one in the Wasteland. Something I’d personally appreciate as a replacement for something like the first black belt is a sun stone, because it’s the only evolutionary stone that is still only available as a hidden item (in the Byxbision Caves, which is weird because sun stones aren’t even all that good), whereas all of the others have been changed to being visible (another change I support entirely). The front sprite for Amoongus needs to be moved downwards because at the moment it’s unnaturally high. When it’s windy the battle gives you the text for Delta Stream, which is something about mysterious wind currents. Personally I don’t think that ordinary wind is all that mysterious. I’m not sure how the totem pole event is supposed to work, so I figured I’d check it out. I’m pretty sure I did this as soon as I was able, but it might have been a bit further on in the story. Regardless, I couldn’t do the event because when I tried I got an error and it crashed my game. I haven’t tried it since then other than repeating the event at the same time to confirm that it’s consistent. In the fight against Fern just before facing off against Aya his Ferrothorn didn’t have Iron Barbs. After beating Aya (I think?) she walks away from you in a fashion that makes her appear to be moonwalking. If this is intentional then colour me surprised. Not a great picture but I think the idea is that she walks from where you're standing to where she's standing without changing her facing from the one she's currently at. Focus Sash’s can be found on the floor of the department store that sells mid tier general needs and vitamins. I feel like that’s not where they’re meant to be. If you try to run from a wild encounter but fail, and the wild uses sucker punch then you get some sort of error message. I don’t think this one crashes the game though. An Audino gave my pokemon regenerator by using entrainment. I know for a fact that entrainment works, but on switching my pokemon it didn’t heal itself. I’m not honestly sure how it’s meant to work in the actual games, but I’d guess you’re meant to recover some health. Props to fixing the grassy field healing message always showing up, but now when a grounded pokemon uses a grass type attack there is no message saying it gets a boost. I honestly have no idea if the boost is getting applied or not though as Lilligant’s petal dance tends to one shot everything anyway. The three honey trees that you can access before Fern can’t have honey spread on them until after beating him. I’m guessing that’s to stop people going around him, but it freaked me out and I almost reported that the honey trees are broken. I dunno if there’s any other method you could use to get around this, maybe have him confront you in the forest or something? Rest keeps you asleep for too long. Dunno the exact turn count. This is probably intentional but stepping on the red flowers will reset the position of all the Tauros and Bouffalant on Route 1. When Nyu heals your pokemon there isn’t any sound to indicate that they’ve been healed. Despite your attempts to make both the Aqua and Magma gangs equal they are in fact not. If you side with the Aqua gang then you’ll kick the Magma gang out of their hideout and thus get to the Houndour behind them along with the Carvanha given to you by the gang leader. If you side with the Magma gang you have to wait until you get the good rod to catch a Carvanha. If you walk into the Vanhannen Castle while the lights are off you can’t move until the location name in the top left disappears. When you try to take a Tauros into the labyrinth you get the Tauros running away message twice. I found this doesn’t happen all of the time and I think it has something to do with holding downwards when the text is playing. I’m not sure if it happens at other locations too. I’ve found that sometimes the music for the area you’re in won’t start playing when you leave a wild encounter. I don’t know anything past that but I’ve observed it in the South Aventurine Woods and one of the Ametrine Mountain segments. Luna’s Tyranitar has an Assault Vest and Dragon Dance. Every time you change from one segment of a map to another (observed on Route 1) when it’s a sunny day you get a bright flash of sunshine. Seems like something that’s more essentials based than anything else but it’s still weird. I noticed that the area near Obsidia Park is very laggy compared to just about anywhere else in the game. Could just be me though. Togekiss’ back sprite could do with moving upwards, seeing as it’s meant to be flying. Compared to other pokemon that all start from the same place as Togekiss it currently looks like it's standing on the ground. The pokemon psychologist doesn’t use nicknames when he’s talking about your pokemon. Not sure if intended. The name rater in the circus has a few issues. He won’t use the nickname you’ve just selected in the text after changing it, and if you put in the same nickname as the one your pokemon already has he’ll change it back to the species name instead. There’s a guy wearing a green hat, in the building just before Route 2 who acts like you don’t have a powder vial even when you do. After catching Beldum the pokemon in Aya’s house disappear but her mum acts like they’re still there. The icy rock used to evolve Eevee into Glaceon gives the text for the mossy rock when interacted with. Elevators in the game will allow you to get off them while they’re still moving. This is more personal preference but I find it rather silly. Did Samson succeeding Kiki teach him how to levitate? Seriously though this looks kind of weird. Only one opposing pokemon’s cry will play when you enter into a wild double battle. Not sure about trainer battles. You might want to delay being able to fix the stairs at Calcenon until after beating Charlotte, or at least until after talking to her about ultimatums, as the plot relies on you going back the way you came, instead of down the stairs that you’ve conveniently just fixed. Not a glitch but PULSE Avalugg has absolute zero damage potential these days. It isn’t even a threat, I think I lost one pokemon to it. After the conversation with Blake about handing over the ring he walks away and magically leaves the room without using the elevator. I’m not entirely sure how this happened but I found myself on foot near the top of Ametrine Peak with the bike music playing and I definitely didn’t have the jukebox on. I think it may have something to do with the scripted double battles forcing me off the bike. When you surf into Celestinine Mountain from the Celestinine Cascade you do a little jump like you’re hopping over an invisible ledge. You can’t go back through this door after just walking into the courtyard without moving a square forward first. These doors have an entrance that is two spaces but the stairs only fit for one. This happens for every side door out of the courtyard, you probably need to stop people being able to enter from the space above the door. Isn’t this meant to be a secret? Personal opinion but I feel like that would be said better before you leave Kiki’s room. The fact that the top of this mountain (and all of the others like it, including in the wasteland) obstructs my riding makes no sense. You’re probably not going to change it, but it still makes no sense. You can jump down this ledge with a Tauros but you can’t jump back up it again. For some reason Titania thinks it’s necessary to walk up these stairs sideways. Sorry, but I don’t remember exactly when this is but I think it’s after Hardy has woken up. TMX7 Rock Smash, TM96 Nature Power, TM97 Dark Pulse, TM100 Confide, and TM94 Secret Power are all located out of order in the otherwise well ordered TM list. This can be temporarily fixed by using the sort function, but I’ve noticed that it tends to revert after you close the game down. Also if you use the A button to sort them TM100 will appear after TM10. Characters that don’t appear to be saving their aces until last: Cain in the graveyard (It wasn't Nidoking), Victoria at Apophyll Academy (It was Gallade rather than Emboar), Cal on Mount Pyrous (It wasn't Magmortar), Aster and Eclipse on Azurine Island (It wasn't Magmar and Electabuzz or Magmortar and Electivire), Sigmund in Laura’s house (It wasn't Electivire), Fern on Route 1? This one may be intentional (It was Ferrothorn rather than Serperior or Roserade), Aster in Ametrine Mountain (It was Milotic rather than Electivire or Magmortar). I'll upload minor errors in the tile errors and typos thread later tonight or something.
Fumble 52
Well, that was a long list. Props to you, Sheep. I wonder how long it'll take Ame to add these bugs, along with the other new reported ones, to the E15 Bug List. P.S. You get different Pokemon from the Totem Pole, and the first one you got was an Elgyem. However, it's spelled wrong in the coding (it's spelled Elegyem).
mde2001 236
Wow- this is comprehensive. A few of them are essentials errors though. Specifically sucker punch which always seems to fail in essentials and I think Ame said she was going to remove. In terms of ferrothorn not having iron barbs- it actually changes. I assume Ame just didn't set an ability so it was random between all the options. I lost that battle a few times and the ability changes. Anyway- great list.
Odybld 70
Sucker Punch is a mess allright I think only in-game Gym Leaders and not RL league leaders cast as other characters or meteors are supposed to save their ace for last. The new AI is a bit switchy though, I've seen some instances of them putting something out and then switching to their ace. The Totem Pole works fine in the public release. Your crash was because Elgyem was misspelled as Elegyem. I think it circles between three out of the four depicted 'mons, Baltoy, Elgyem, Natu and Gollett, one Doll at the time. Thanks for the items heads-up. The Rose Incence though is useful for breeding Budews instead of Roselias. A Budew egg can get Extrasensory, wheras a Roselia egg can't. They're also sold in Lapis, and you can make some good early-game money selling the first one after getting Budew. Type boosters are also held in the wild.
Sheep 27
Oh yeah, I probably should have mentioned that this was all in the community release version.
Administrators Amethyst 2469 Posted July 12, 2015 Administrators Share Posted July 12, 2015 Specifically sucker punch which always seems to fail in essentials and I think Ame said she was going to remove. The removing thing was a joke, to be clear... Sucker Punch was unimplemented in Essentials entirely. So that's our issue, really. Other stuff noted as relevant
