Rayschrantz 0
OK, so I've been trying to catch a magnimite for the past hour, and this is completely ridiculous, I won't stay in the freaking ball. I'm going for one with sturdy so I always get it down to 1 HP and put it to sleep, but no matter what it shakes three times and pops out of every pokeball I throw at it, even an ultra ball! I don't know if it's an error or not, but it's defiantly a problem when I cant catch a magnimite that's asleep and at 1 HP with an ultraball. There should be no reason for it to do this, it's at the bare minimum that I can damage it, and I've thrown around 20 balls at it. I might try and go buy some heavy balls, but I think it's a bug. DashingStorm 3
..This is not a bug, I can assure you. You're just really having bad luck. >>; In fact, I'll go and catch one myself. With normal Poké Balls. I'll be back in a few minutes and will edit this for the amount of Poké Balls I needed. EDIT: Tested, not a bug, just bad luck. I've caught a Magnemite at 75% HP, whilst asleep, in 1 try. On top of that, I caught a Magnemite at 1% HP, whilst asleep as well, with 3 Poké Balls. http://prntscr.com/7r7v5s So no, this is not a bug.
Solarance 1
Why lately does everything seem like a bug... As said above, luck is not on your side.
foovy10 4
Well I said that kricketune was in Adventerine Forest everyone thought i was crazy cuz it was extremely rare. While exploriing the area in my mono i saw it I was searching for hours lookin for that thing before cuz i wanted to perish song arceus. Sin! 17
luck is a bitch. get over it.
Rayschrantz 0
I don't think luck explains why this happens every time I try to catch one. I've caught a few already, but each one takes minimum 5 heavy balls to catch. I'm calling hacks cause it shakes three times every time and pops out the first 5 times. It's defiantly not luck. Solarance 1
Pokeballs go by chance, as does almost everything in Pokémon.... Kinda goes hand and hand. Now we got Ame in here. *facepalm*

It's defiantly not luck. ..Do you even know how a Heavy Ball works? Because from what I see in this post you clearly don't. Allow me to elaborate on the subject. A Heavy Ball, as the name implies, works better on heavy Pokémon. Now take a Magnemite for example. Magnemite weighs 6 KG. (Yes I'm going with KG for this one) Heavy Ball modifiers are additive instead of multiplicative. So instead of a "2x" catch rate on say, an Ultra Ball, Heavy Balls get +catch rate when a certain weight is reached. However! If very light Pokémon such as Magnemite, are under a certain weight (in this case, any Pokémon under 204.8 kg or 451.5 lbs.), the catch rate on a Heavy Ball decreases by 20. That still gives Magnemite a 170/255 capture rate, which is stupendously high, but it should and wouldn't matter if you actually used a normal Poké Ball instead of a Heavy Ball. Now for a quick recap on this; - Heavy Ball gives either -20, 0, +20, +30 or +40 catch rate depending on the Pokémon's weight. For more info, go to this page on catch rate modifiers for various Poké Ball types; http://www.serebii.net/games/capture.shtml - Magnemite, being one of the lighter Pokémon to exist, only weighs 6KG, meaning that it falls under the negative factor of a Heavy Ball's modifier. Magnemite has a 190 base catch rate, meaning that using a Heavy Ball will decrease it to 170. Quick mathemetical formula.. 170/255 = 0.66 * 100 = 66.66% chance to capture a Magnemite with a Heavy Ball. Considering you mentioned you needed 5 Heavy Balls to capture one, you got the short end of the formula (being the 33.34% chance to fail, but 4 times, adding to a probability of 8.335% of this happening.) - Again, this is not a glitch/bug and shouldn't have been reported as such, but hey. If it takes for me, who absolutely hates mathemetical formulas, to explain the system on Heavy Balls, to explain that you shouldn't be using Heavy Balls on Pokémon that are this light, instead of normal Poké Balls or even Great Balls.. Then so be it. (For future reference, you might want to check Serebii's GenVI Pokédex first before attempting to catch Pokémon in special Poké Balls, before you create more of these "bug" threads. I'm not saying you absolutely have to, but it's nice to be prepared, isn't it?)
Administrators Amethyst 2467 Posted July 11, 2015 Administrators Share Posted July 11, 2015 Actually, I just checked the data file. Magnemite's catch rate is supposed to be 190. For some reason it was set to 65. Fixed for next release. Good catch-- no pun intended. Maybe.
Rayschrantz 0
Thanks Ame for checking instead of just telling me I'm unlucky or dumb.
