I build the castle on top of a mountain and brought the walls up to the point that I was actually at the top of the map. The pit in the second to last picture actually reaches from close to the top of the mountain all the way down to where I hit lava. Im still working on getting the outer wall to surround the entire city, but I also have to flatten everything down to the same level to make it look good.
