Global Mods Ice Cream Sand Witch 1650 Posted March 4, 2015 Global Mods Share Posted March 4, 2015 I don't usually think deeply about games (or about anything for that matter), because I'd rather just play through and enjoy them instead of analyzing them. But when I got to Sea Mauville and read all the old letters there, my brain made a connection. According to a picture I saw on the Internet (I have Alpha Sapphire and I haven't played Omega Ruby) in the Team Magma hideout there's a grunt that says Archie and Maxie used to be on the same team. In Sea Mauville, there's a letter that calls Wattson a traitor for cancelling the New Mauville project. The reason Wattson stopped it is because of safety concerns for wild Pokemon in the area. So this person seems more concerned about building an underground city than about the Pokemon. That sounds a lot like Maxie's motivations. More land so people can develop > Pokemon habitats. I've heard he accuses Tabitha of wanting to take over Team Magma from him in OR, so calling someone a traitor also sounds like him. Archie may have been working for New Mauville as some kind of adviser for Wattson and realized how completing New Mauville would hurt the wild Pokemon, so then Wattson said "ok lets stop". New Mauville was being built near water, and Archie = expand the sea to restore lost habitats to aquatic Pokemon. So, maybe when the Mauville projects got cancelled there was in-fighting among the crew who worked on them and Archie and Maxie made their own groups? There's the issue that Captain Stern and Archie/Maxie didn't have any dialogue suggesting they personally knew each other at the museum. Sea Mauville had some stuff about Captain Stern, so he was involved too. So it could just be a lot of meaningless coincidences. But I still thought it was neat to think about. crusher8890 0
i actually agree with your theory there. but like in spot on how stern and the leader of team magma/aqua didn't know each other seems irrelevant cause they would have to know each other if sea mauville was connected to new mauville cause in every big buisness industries that are connected the bosses or vice bosses have to know each other. Sapphire 0
I find this pretty unlikely-Emerald established that they once worked together for environmental preservation, hence being 'on the same team' but spit due to conflicting views. I think that they're both too young to have any connection to Sea Mauville.

Sapphire 0
True, but there are many similarities. And the fact remains-age.
