a whole mess 0
Hello, so today I decided I wanted to play pokemon reborn on my mac. I followed all the instructions given by TacosAndFlowers in the Pokemon Reborn For Macs! topic, but when I opened the Game.exe file to play it, a small window popped up that said: DirectX 8.0 or higher not installed. Below is a picture of the window/ error.
Jericho 114
Well maybe you should install Direct X (Current Version)?????
Tacos 205
Ok, would you mind posting a screenshot of the contents of your Pokemon Reborn folder, as well as your Wine Files folder. I also need to know which version of Wine you downloaded. I've never run into this error before so I'd like to see what might have gone wrong. Also, perhaps try the process again if I can't figure out a solution.
a whole mess 0
To Jericho, I'm sorry, I'm not the best when it comes to computers, do you know what direct x is maybe? To TacosAndFlowers, I download both Wine and WineBottler, and they are both version 1.6.1. Those are the versions you recommended I believe. I will redo the process and reply if any thing has changed. Thank you for your help! Below are(in order): Pokemon Reborn Folder Wine Contents Folder WineBottler Contents Folder
Sheep 27
DirectX is a program you'll need to download and install in order to play the game.
a whole mess 0
Okay so I just did the same process and got the same result :/ I also looked up DirectX and fond that it is a windows program for gaming, which I don't understand why that would be needed on my mac. I'll reply again if I find anything else.
Jericho 114
Because it has to do with Wine. Download it. It's not like MAC's get viruses. Also if it's a windows program, I doubt your at any risk regardless.
Tacos 205
That WineBottler Combo in your Reborn folder looks suspicious to me. Try removing it from the folder and then giving the game another try.
a whole mess 0
I'm sorry I have not replied in a while, I have been super busy, I'm going to work on the wine bottler combo later on today
ReddestDream 0
Don't try to run Reborn through WineBottler. Just use Wine.app directly to open game.exe. Reborn shouldn't need any native Windows .DLLs or any other packages outside of what is included with Wine . . . I don't know about 1.6.1, but Reborn works fine out of the box with the latest dev version, 1.7.30: http://winebottler.kronenberg.org
a whole mess 0
Woah My Gosh! It's working! So I did not realize, but the wine prefix was set to my Wizard 101 game, so all I had to do was make a new prefix and now the game works. There are some pictures below of what I was talking about. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me out!
