Yeah I would diversify the team somewhat. Definitely good to have multiple types trained up but I wouldnt use them at the same time unless you're working on a specific gym, like the fighting gym for example. If you look you have multiple members weak to Steel. Fire and Ground and poison are also some weak areas for you. Look at this chart or go to https://marriland.com/tools/team-builder/ to help plan out a team so you can see how well your type coverage is. While you do have coverage, losing one mon, like Talonflame for example could really hurt you during Reborn. For example, a good Alolan Sandlash would BODY your team. So finding those weak points and covering them will be crucial, especially in the late game.
-
Train both, grinding up a few extra mons never hurts. Sure it takes some time, but as long as youre doing it as you go along, especially as they approach the level cap, its not too bad. Also theyre both useful in the longrun depending on the fight. I wouldnt use them both at the same time unless you're in a specific battle that they both could be useful like fighting that dang bug nerd but other than that I don't forsee any issues having both. Also shiny Noivern is wicked so like definitely keep him around!
-
Honestly, I would say train both separately. There are so many times that you will be swapping out your mons depending on the challenge you face ahead so it doesnt hurt to train a few of each type. I know I have a box almost completely full of mons that I can swap to if need be. You obviously can win through other methods but its so much easier to have a couple of each type that you like. I know I kept my Slugma til late game and there were many times it came in handy. Additionally though, I used a Rapidash and a Darmanitan just depending on the battle. So I say keep both and level them up accordingly as you play along and you'll probably be glad you did in the long run!

Hello everyone! I am sorry I haven't posted in a while. My computer crashed and I was worried I had lost my reborn data. Fortunately I did not however when I play the game, after about 30 seconds or so I receive this error. I did not know what to do so I redownloaded the game and ran it from there and I am having the same issue. Please help, I put so much into my playthroughs and don't want to lost it all!

Hello everyone!
I'm currently a master's student in Media Studies and I'm working on my thesis right now. (It's basically a really really long paper!) My thesis is actually about Pokemon Reborn and part of the paper is going to be dedicated toward understanding how fans interact with the game.
So feel free to sound off below! I'm looking to find some responses to a couple of questions. What led you to Pokemon Reborn? What do you think about the battle system in the game? What do you think about the stories/narrative in the game? In particular, what do you think about the queer characters in the game, like Cain and Adrienn?
If you have any other thoughts outside of these questions feel free to let me know. You can always direct message me too.
Disclaimer: If you do comment, I might use your response in my official thesis composition. I would most likely quote your response, possibly with your profile name as well.
Thanks everyone!
Personally, I think the game is quite remarkable. From a story telling standpoint, the game encapsulates an authentic pokemon experience, while making it more in tune with its older audience that have been playing the original games since early childhood. The evil Team Meteor is reflective of the Team Rocket/Team Galactic/Plasma/etc. with great, albiet cruel plans to reshape the world in their image. The background music is amazing and unique while still feeling like a classic pokemon game. The fact that you can see your characters influence on the world as Reborn grows and is renovated is amazing as well. It truly makes you feel a part of the pokemon world. I think the creators do a great job at listening to its fans, making changes with updates that effect the overall gameplay and challenges you face. I think it respects its players as well by challenging them, and when it is noticed that something makes the game too easy, such as early access to a powerful pokemon, they recognize that and move the encounter to later in the game to keep the challenge even throughout. Additionally, I think the introduction of queer characters not only makes the game unique, but feel more realistic as that is a definite demographic in todays world. I also think its worth noting that there are numerous POC in the games that are rarely present in the actual games. I will say, I think the introduction of Adrienn's gender neutral pronouns was a little odd. It didn't exactly feel like a natural conversation and came out of no where. I feel like it would have been more effective to just have xym referred with the xe pronouns either fresh out of the gate so that we knew without dedicating cutscenes to it, as it would just make it seem like another encounter without it needing to be a "moment" I guess. Like, moving forward into the game, it is quickly normalized, but I feel like that introduction didn't make it seem normal at first. The fact that Cain as a queer character states they are confused with the Adrienn encounter as well just baffled me. All in all though I appreciate the characters as they both add unique elements that aren't encountered often, such as Cain's flirty perversions yet sweet caring acts, and Adrienn's passion and kindness toward Reborn.

I have two answers for pre- and post-Terra.
Pre-Terra: Meowstic
I mean...what can I say? That cat ruined lives all the way through Reborn City, and remained a crucial support mon up until the end of the circus arc. I mean, everyone knows prankster screens is good, but Meowstic has exclusive access to both Rain and Sun at +1 priority, substituting for a weather setter and (in so doing) was vital to beating Charlotte. I honestly think rain is critical for that fight. Even now, there's some fights I'd still consider bringing the psycat back for.
Post-Terra: Alolan Ninetales
This mon is amazing! I can see why Ame loves it so much! It does everything! It sets Veil, fires off strong offensive moves, kills enemy weather.....thanks to Slush Rush A!Sandslash, I can even follow it up with a devastating offensive sweeper with the bulk of a damn god. Alolatails carried me through the Fiore gauntlet and continues to output a strong performance whenever needed.
Honorable mentions go to Klinklang (Owns Florina and Corey, as long as meteor keeps using factory field this thing will never truly fall off) and Flygon (just a strong offensive pokemon with solid bulk (relative to the mons around it) and and a neat ground immunity for easy switches).
Heck yeah! Thats awesome. I have never actually used a Meowstic myself but my first time playing through Reborn I played it alongside two of my best friends and one of them ran a Meowstic. (We actually had quite different teams too without even trying to playthough the game differently which was cool to see how we were all different as trainers). But he loved that thing. I've watched quite a few Lets Plays as well where people have used and swore by their Meowstic too so I could see how it would arguably be one of the most useful mons to pick up early.
And I couldn't agree more with Alolan Ninetails. Combo'd with Alolan Sandslash. That Slush Rush is a godsend- leading with a swords dance then single handedly sweeping everything else. It is amazing to the point that I think my next mono run may be an ice challenge.

Donphan. He gets Knock Off in gen 7. Before gen 7, his Swagger was DANGEROUS. Has nice speed, outstanding attack, his defenses could be better but still, gets Sturdy... Using it for Strength is somehow working for battles as well, because fields! Hits like a truck and is the Agate Circus Mascot. Do you need more reasons?
Cacturne. Physical, Special or mix, that thing will never disappoint. Has its own Protect, even. Learns Sandstorm naturally, can have the ability that raises evade in it, you slap a BrightPowder on top and there you go!
Drapion. Only now i had the pleasure, to get really acquainted with that beast. Sniper + Night Slash + Cross Poison + FELL STINGER and later on, when available, Earthquake too... The shivers! I almost forgot all about Alolan Muk, already!
Donphan is a beast. I like to watch other people's playthroughs to see how their experience was different than mine and the guy mained a donphan and yeah it was amazing! Never attempted a Cacturne myself but I can see how it would be valuable. Drapion is amaziing. Used him in Diamond and have one trained up to lvl 88 for my rotation in Reborn!

From my current run, Kecleon has definitely been the MVP. Before, I always thought that it's really weak, but surprisingly it performed the best out of my whole team. Best part was predicting the opponents move and using Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch to change type so the opponent will do little damage, and thanks to that priority it doesn't matter that it's so slow, or use Trick Room. It can learn lots of TMs and good moves from tutors or breeding, does decent damage and has very good SpDef. And, though I didn't use it, with Power-up Punch it's even more dangerous.
Wow! I also have not heard of anyone utilizing Kecleon in Reborn let alone as their MVP! That is awesome! I have a shiny one (the sprite is hilarious) that is at a decent level. Maybe I can train him up some for whenever Episode 19 comes out.

Amoongus is definitely an underrated pokemon. Really great in doubles since there's also Rage Powder(+3 priority that does the same as follow me) and it deals alright damage. It's also crazy bulky and has great longevity with its regenerator ability.
I could imagine! It sounds great, probably destroyed Adrienn

That would be fun

If I was joining, than only to protect the ones I love and care. Making a deal with them, because Lin is seeing MC as her valuable "Diamond in Rough" and would agree, but giving her character, she would make sure, we'll stay at line. Poor MC will end up mind broken in worst case scenario, so they'll never ever gonna slip away from Team Meteor.
Question, who is MC? Is that just an abbreviation for Main Character??
Additionally, it would be fun to join Team Meteor with the mission of infiltrating and destroying from within-but to have to do so without getting caught or noticed.

My Main MVP was my shiny Haxorous, I didnt know who to use for my last team member, so i got the mystery egg, and got a shiny axew, decided to roll with it, and it turned out amazing, it has a 300+ attack stat right now, and dragon dance combined with outrage is insane, it saved my ass in so many gyms.
Ooooohhhhh nice! I also got Axew from my egg and trained it up for a rotationed team that I am working on putting together. Ya never know what Amethyst will throw at ya with each new episode so it is always good to have some hidden beasts saved up.

Spiritomb in Reborn progressively became a lovely ace to me! His tanky nature helped me kinda well against special offenders and Nasty Plot turned it into a more vicious threat during long battles. I concluded most of my Gym Battles with him as my last valid Pokemon, so he became not just a good teammate, but a mascot to my entire team over time. Shock Wave was also very enjoyable to use when I faced Amaria and Ciel, and I don't even mention the raid in Devon Corp. This shadowy boy was such a swiss knife
Nice, mono dark runs are fun!

What is a good moveset for kingdra? My sucks :X
Additionally, I think Dragon Dance is the key to running a good Kingdra. Once you start setting them up its bulky enough and powerful enough to take on ALOT

I have my Spiritomb trained up and in Rotation but so far have not actually needed to pull him out yet! I've never actually utilized one though for a playthrough, but I do remember it being a force to be reckoned with on Cynthia's team!

I have mine fairly balanced with Dragon Dance, Outrage, Waterfall and Surf. Dive is pretty good too if you are on the water, my Kingdra did WORK against Amaria tbh.

Weavile

Im thinking and thinking which Pokémon my HERO was (first playthrough)…. and I can't decide. Was it my sweeper Swoobat with Focus sash + endeavor & air Slash/psychic? Definetly in some battles like Solaris. Was it my shiny Golem tank with Sturdy + rockblast/earthquake? Definetly in Team battles with Swoobat or alone against fast and strong enemies. Was it my shniy magenzone with sturdy? definetly, exactly like yours
But i think not.... it could also be my simisear (yea, really) which was just fast af and smashed so many enemies with acrobatics. It could also be my Swalot (toxic/ yawn, you know the rest). But I would say it was my beloved Feraligatr. I started with him, he was fast, he was strong, he knew dark/water/fight moves and was over he cap like all of the time. Such a good Little fellow. In conclusion: it was my whole Team without rotations. I loved them all, they all important, nobody for ist own.
But Looking to my second playthrough…. well you know, ist just Blaziken. Always and Always again. Send him out - blaze kick or sky Uppercut (or flame charge for extra Speed) - instant kill - Speed raise. I repeat this for every enemy and was able to beat most of my enemy. Sure they were some fights were he was completely useless (especially against Ciel or Psycho b*tches) but thats fine. Hes not my only one, but definetly my carrier and cool Looking starter. He got choice band, what you ecpect :'DAwesome! I also ran with Feraligatr for a while! Honestly though, I never really keep my starter pokemon on my team, although I needed to pretty much all the way til Ciel for this game as he was extremely useful!

What's made him so useful? I could imagine as he is one of the best starter pokemon out there, but do you have any moments you could recall as to where he really shined?

Hey Everyone!
I don't know if this is really a Team Showcase kind of post buuuuuut I thought this would be the best place to put it as it relates quite a bit...
Who has been the MVP (Most Valuable Pokemon) for your Reborn playthrough? This can be the Pokemon that came in clutch during your toughest battle, perhaps has been with you since the early game and has been the ol' reliable team member, maybe even one that always tends to be your lead/first pokemon out, etc. I want to know what singular pokemon has made a monumental impact on your game play and why! Feel free to share stories of challenges it helped you overcome, what made you add it to your team, etc.
I'll share mine. Without a doubt, even though it is not my favorite mon on the team, my MVP has been my Magnezone. I got Magnemite as early as possible to help with some Water and Flying Type weaknesses and that Sturdy ball of electricity has helped in so many ways. From tanking hits from Ditto/Arceus and landing the paralyzing hit, electrocuting a good chunk of the water-mons i've encountered (Im looking at you Amaria), and its ever-powerful Flash Cannon killing every fairy it has encountered while commonly taking advantage of the many steel/electric boosting terrains. It has even been amazing in double battles with my Hippowdon after it Magnet Rises as Earthquake will miss Magnezone and its Discharge wont hurt Hippowdon. All in all, it has been with me through most of the game and I don't know how I would have gotten through some of the most critical battles I have had without it.I look forward to hearing your stories as well!
