About Me

If you care more about the game I'm making then scroll down. Otherwise let me tell you about myself.

I am a 23 year old in a town somewhere outside Detroit. I never had much of a hobby outside of video games, but for a while I also played golf and sang a little for choir in school.

While in college I started deciding that I wouldn't be happy in any job unless it involved software development. So I decided to dabble in the black magic of video game programming.

I took a class and learned how to use Unity, which helped get the fundamentals of creating gameplay mechanics, but the rest of the game dev process felt like it was missing, so i bought RPG Maker XP and got Pokemon Essentials for the purpose of gaining an idea of what needs to be done and in what order.

Honestly, toying around with RPG Maker and creating the nightmare of an intro for my first fan-game has definitely given me some insight, now I just need to transfer it into a more respectable engine like UE4 or something. Although it won't help my art skills, since the type of games I see myself making are RPGs, which revolve a lot around characters and designs.

My personality...

I like to think I'm a happier person, even though I often go into negative spirals, mainly when spewing text onto pages like this.

I tend to be more anti-social until someone speaks out to me, but that might be because I suck at starting conversations. However, when the conversation gets into my interests I can talk a lot, at a slowly increasing speed, until I'm done or need to take a breath.

I'm also self conscious about what I post, even if it's an anonymous online forum, so even though I have an account on here, as well as on the pokecommunity forums, I will rarely make a post or respond to one, unless I am directly spoken to.

Well if you want to get in touch with me then the best way to do it is by leaving me a message here since I check this site more than pokecommunity.

If you want to help me out with my game (and any help is appreciated) then contact me.

If you want me to help you out with your game, then let me know and I'll see if I can.

Now if you actually read this whole thing i commend you. Here's a cookie: http://orteil.dashnet.org/cookieclicker/

Short version:

I'm making a game.

Sprite art is tedious.

Mapping is boring as hell.

Writing a story is hard.

Scripting/Eventing is easy and enjoyable.

Someone help. pls.

Project started: 7/28/16

Last update: 1/23/2018

Long Version:

(I feel sad updating this knowing that no one will see it.)

I'll make a post in the forum once the first act is playable.

Pokemon fan game (title when first episode comes out)

Each main build version will increase the number of beatable gyms by at least 1.

Planned Features:

-Pokemon from Generations 1 through 6 (maybe 7 later on).

-The choice of an unconventional starter across all 18 types. (54 Different starters total.)

-A whole new region to explore (just like 99% of other fan games).

-18 Gyms planned for final release. (Might be reworked to have about 10 gyms be mandatory and the rest optional. Also some towns will have 2 or more gyms to reduce city cluttering in the region map.)

-Music comprised of bastardized remixed songs from various games utilizing midis and the Black and White soundfont.

-A story that slightly branches based on certain things the player chooses to do during story events, or if they fail to win fights on the first attempt.

-All Rival battles will be optional to win with the story (^). All these battles will have the opponents using 31 IV pokemon and "strong" AI (as according to the "AI level" that Essentials has).

-Optional "unfair" battles (opponents have more than 6 pokemon) that gives rewards, because

-Custom Day/Night system (Player can "sleep" at a Pokemon Center if no major event is happening to cycle between day and night.)

Current problems:

Known Bugs:

-When choosing Grass Type, during the intro sequence the ability Harvest can potentially break the game. And grass types suck in the intro, so i can't change this ability without letting the player win easily/making the intro fights a joke.

Next Release: Build 0.3 (Prologue + First Act) (Team will be around level 30-35...maybe)

(Prologue has some replayability with the different types)
