Romance / school mangas seems to follow this pattern: 

- 1st year: The distance between the main characters closes, then opens, the closes and they begin to date

- 2nd year: The couple faces difficulties, but they solve it by remembering their love for each other

- 3rd year: They decide on their career paths, and support each other

This is present in quite a few of the romance/school life extensive mangas, and I like the way this is portrayed.
