Ok I think I see the problem now. The file has to be exactly called "Game". The game only loads the file called game, never game (1) or game (2) or any other variant. Just "game". Also you have to delete or at least rename the older file.

I'm 100% sure it's the one I changed, I tested it to see if I uploaded the wrong one the first time you said it wasn't working for you. When I load that file and open the game he's right there, I don't understand why it doesn't work for you.

You don't have to restart, your E16 save should still work in E17.
And yes, the controls tab is a new feature that allows you to change the controls of the game.

He should be right there in his apartment, I don't know what else may be wrong. Are you playing the latest version?

I loaded up my game today and noticed that everything was very laggy; attempting to save causes a "script is taking too long" error and corrupts the save file. I tried reverting to one of the automatically created backups, but the same thing happened. Already lost two backups that way and would rather not have to repeat the Gym Battle (or worse yet, the hide and seek section before that). I hope that's even something that can be fixed.
I wanted to upload the backups I still have, too, but didn't find any good uploading site that doesn't require an account or downloading something, so here's just the most recent one I have:
I may be wrong, but your save file seems to be perfectly fine. I tested a little bit to see if I could figure out what the problem was but I'm not experiencing any of the issues you describe, so I assume the problem is either the own game (maybe try redownloading?) or your computer.

I was looking into the game files to see the shiny pokemon and I think one of silvally's shiny sprites is missing (773s_9).

I was mining and I saw a white item of the size of a plate, it kinda looked like the sprite was missing but I don't really know. The issue is that when I finished minning on that rock the game crashed an this popped up. I looked at the list and it doesn't seem to have been reported, but if it has or if this isn't the right place to report this I apologize.

I'm going to enjoy this. I just hope that you don't get killed by two things that could end your run very early and in a very ridiculous way
the guy with lvl 100 Alakazam, Machamp and Golem in Gearen and those devilish Kecleon from the "get me an item" help request
because I really want to see how do you react to some events in the game.
