  1. Happy Birthday 😄 i just saw your post about the dental checkup, i hope nothing bad happened and i also hope you'll have a wonderful day 🤗🎂

  2. On this day, I have successfully graduated from Midland University with a degree in Computer Science and Arts Management. Despite the extra year to complete my degree, I am now graduated and will be moving on with my career in information technology. As of now, I am currently employed full-time and working on my Master's in Cyber Security and Information Assurance. It's been a long time coming, but there's a lot more for me to look forward to, with my path towards my Master's degree and my current career.

What does this mean for my video game? Well, nothing actually, because I will be continuing my work on my game in secrecy, due to the nature of my work. I will also be rewriting the entire game, since on a recent playthrough of my game, I was largely displeased with my old writing and decided to forego the old story and improve upon it, in many ways to avoid, what I consider, poor directing decisions, tropey-cliche-bullshit and way too much talking without gameplay for upwards to half an hour.

Oh this freedom won't last very long, haha - especially since I start my Master's in July.

  4. I just watched Down the Rabbit Hole for the Final Fantasy House, and oh my God! I never vomited more at a story than that one.

A genuine question to anyone and everyone here: at what point is it EXTREMELY unhealthy to associate yourself with a character so much, that you lose all sense of yourself as a person?

Holy toledo! You should make a video essay on this subject, like... for real! I bet you could do a damn good job on discussing it and making really good content out of it. Give this person an award for the best explanation that I never expected on the planet - like seriously! You quite literally covered all your bases and explained it all so well and answered any and all questions I could have.

That was a very detailed explanation and was exactly what I was looking for. Kudos to you for giving such a great explanation to that! I was really pondering this one day and really needed to dive more into it, because after watching that video it made me really question a lot of things I've experienced or indulged in myself and thought "how far is TOO far?" Thank you for clarifying that for me, that was an excellent response.

  6. What acronyms annoy you/piss you off the most in conversation? For me it has to go to "smh." Something about that three-lettered acronym really gets me seething.

Agreed, but for me more specifically "Mkay"

  7. So, I bought a PS4 specifically for Final Fantasy 7 Remake. What are some games people can recommend to me, besides KH3, which I am holding off on buying until there is more to it.

I already own all 3 of the souls games on PC plus Demon's Souls, but Bloodborne is one I've been wanting to play for a long time.

  8. Incoming dumb question, since I don't keep up with modern trends, like at all.

Okay, I'm a bit late to the whole Projared cheating thing, but my main, big, question mark is this: since when has polyamory started becoming a thing in the past 0 years? Did I blink and miss something? I was less taken aback by the whole scandle as I was the whole "it's okay to be poly-amorous in an America society" thing and just shrug it off like it's no big deal.

Am I late to the party of knowing this or is this just a very niche thing?

    1. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

I suppose that makes sense. I'm very old-school and religious so I am not exactly one to get on the polyamory train, myself personally. But, if someone wants to do so then who am I to decide who can and can't be happy? I just prefer to have one relationship and call it a day. Given my track record with women one is absolutely where it stops. More than one and I'll lose my mind, haha.

But, at least now I know it's a thing in the US. I just thought it was exclusive to other countries, due to their religious and cultural practices.

  9. Oh, whoa, hey, uhhhh... casually strolling in to say hello to everyone and wanted you all to get an update on my status at the moment. Currently, I am now done with this year of school and am now on my last year. It was rough, thus far, especially with finances, which is why progress has been... ehhh... Also, I have been constantly displeased with the script of my game and have come to the conclusion of rewriting a good majority of the game's story, especially the near endgame parts. But, a lot of great things have come to me while I've been away. First and foremost was obviously publishing my manga and getting a lot of great sales at conventions and my university. Another was being able to head to San Antonio, Texas for a PBL (Phi-Beta-Lambda) National competitions. What is PBL? Basically, a Business Honor Society that has you do sometimes philanthropy things, but also competitions. This week I'll be there to compete in 2 competitions that I placed in at State.

A lot of my setbacks will be rectified, soon, but I need to get a lot of headway on other, life things, first. This project is my baby and always will be, alongside another manga that I am currently in the works of writing that is completely unrelated to my game. I've been committed to this project for almost a decade and I've come too far to quit. This is only a minor setback and will be soon rectified in about a year or so.

    1. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

I also wanted to add something else, as well. I have struck a deal with a certain company and will receive investments for future projects of mine. It won't be anytime soon, as this will be late, late future. Say, 2-3 yearsish. But, if I'm not done with my game, by then, I will use part of the money received to help make my game even more exciting and great.

  10. I am willing to accept questions and answer them, in relation to anything at the moment. Feel free to ask me some in message or comment if you'd like. I was just in a sudden mood to do Q&A.

      Dylanrockin

Barely if anything. The reason for that is due to financials, school, plays/musicals, and life struggles. The manga for it is finished though, which I have made several posts about if you're interested in that.

  15. I like TVTropes, I do. But, one thing that really grinds my gears is when people direct it at me saying "you can't write a good story if you aren't being 100% original, these days."

... what? Guys, not everything has to be a classic and novelty for novelty sake is in-itself a trope. Also, to say that you have to be completely original would mean that you'd have to basically make the story as uninteresting as possible, by removing themes, characters and narratives.

There is a sense of familiarity with certain stories that people, believe it or not, ACTUALLY enjoy and prefer recognizing. Like themes of love, drama, adventure etc. It's how you write those scenes and how well delivered they are that ultimately sticks with people.

    1. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

I think the common misconception with tropes is that people believe them to be cliches, which are a completely different beast. Tropes are tools for writers to use and it is impossible to write a story without them, unless you are an alien who has never been to Earth before.

An architect builds a house with four walls, a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, etc. If an architect decides "you know what, this bedroom and bathroom shit, I'm getting tired of it. Let's make a house without those." then that would be the equivalent to saying you are going to write a story without tropes. There are big houses, small ones, ones with gazebos, pools etc. The point is: there are tropes that are necessary to the plan of your story and those that are nice, but not necessary, that you can add. They are tools not a "way of life that you must deviate from for originality sake."

  16. Oh yeah, btw's this, along with a couple other skits in this game are some of the most entertaining things about Dawn of the New World. That's not saying much, considering the new voice actors and all...

    1. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

It's almost like they're the only redeeming thing about the game. tbh, I only ever revisit this game for the skits and the fan-servicey moments.

  17. Phew, I just finished Tales of Symphonia for the first time in 5 years and man... it felt like I experienced the game again for the first time again. All the feels. I was actually surprised by how much I forgot. Also the PS2 content is a great addition, especially with making Abyssion 200x harder and Nifelheim becoming even more of a pain in the ass to clear.

It was getting painful to finish it, when I got to the endgame, because I wanted to hang out with the characters more, because I enjoyed their characterization, personalities and when I got to the end, all that was left was optional stuff. Also, shoutouts to Scott Menville, Jennifer Hale and Cam Clarke for being absolutely amazing voice actors - literally couldn't imagine those characters without those voices. *cough Symphonia 2 *cough*

Now to forever ingrain Sheena and Lloyd as my eternal head-canon pairing - FIGHT ME!

    1. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

Zestiria is a mixed bag. For me, I wasn't all too fond of how obvious its recycling of past plot-devices from previous games were. Vesperia PS3 is the definitive version that people should play, but thankfully they are localizing that amazing game for the PS4, XBONE, and Switch - would highly recommend this version to play.

Symphonia is the best place to get into the series from, but don't get the steam version, since I heard it was an awful port. Get the Chronicles version for PS3 as it has everything the PS2, Japanese version has, along with its bastard sequel that no one likes aside from its fan-service. In most people's opinions Symphonia is the best, mostly for its heavy themes, amazing plot and equally awesome characters and its battle system that encourages... technical... skill, ewwwww! (sarcasm) Highly recommend Symphonia to start with. Its easiest to get into and its battle system is still excellent to this day. Also, this game does not suffer from RPG Syndrome, where the beginning of the game doesn't follow the standard trope of RPG's being simply awful in the first 2-3 hours.

  18. So, apparently I heard that there were Poketubers who were trying to crowdfund their own fan-game, named after themselves, because of course they did. Very narcissistic. But, wow... and here I thought I saw everything. Literally, you couldn't have a more worse situation than this.

Poketubers with no artistic merit or taste, or even visionary capabilities + livestream crowdfunding for a fan-game = literally the worst idea ever. I don't even know where to begin with that, first off: crowdfunding, a fan-game is, no matter how you shake it, illegal and unethical. Secondly, it's being made by some people who don't even understand the design and theory of making a game. It's like, WHY NOT, let's have other people make it for me and name it after myself!

    1. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

I also find it absurd that they were going to name it after themselves. Like... how much more narcissistic could you be? "I'm gonna make a game, name it after me, and when you play, you'll remember that you're playing the 'me' game - by the way, made by me! Featuring me as the main character."

It only makes sense since he's a class-A stoner and has a legion of idiots who worship the very dirt he walks on.

  19. Also, on top of this Pokemon news, here's a cool new inking from my manga, with Vivian vs. Aria in the EX Chapter. The move used is not actually Ice Punch as you might think, it's actually a new move called Fusion Hammer. An Ice/Water technique that is effectively a much more powerful Ice Punch that also deals water damage.

  20. So, what I'm getting out of this new Pokemon game is that... it's essentially a less cool Colosseum with only the first 151 + some Alolan. The Co-Op seems cool, but aside from that it is a little... underwhelming. I could be wrong and it will be awesome. I will probably get it, when it comes out.

BTW's, when does it come out?

  22. Here's a question I'm willing to ask to you: Is it dangerous that people see YouTubers as their "friends"?

I look at this not only from a psychological perspective (mostly towards children in this regard), but also from a "professional" one. In regards to the latter, I look at it in the same light as how a student-teacher relationship SHOULDN'T be. You should not make friends with your teacher, just like you shouldn't make friends with some guy on the internet making videos, who is pretty much playing up a funny facade for your retention and ad-revenue. It's a one-sided relationship in that regard. When it comes to children, which comprises a huge majority of the demographics there, it's not exactly a safe option for them, from a sociological standpoint, to treat their favorite YouTuber as their friend.

I could go on, but I'm mostly interested in how others feel about it, because it is a topic of debate that would be interesting to delve into more.

    1. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

One way that I feel it'd be easier to look at this situation would be from a personal vlogging/live streaming aspect of it, where you see the person's face quite a bit, and there's a lot of interaction. Some have a camera on and some don't, but a huge majority do. One unhealthy way of thinking about it from a streaming perspective is when some impressionable viewer reads the description of stream and the streamer says something along the lines of "donate x amount of dollars for me to notice you". Some viewers really do, genuinely, care about their favorite streamer or vlogger and tends to take upon them, what IntSys said, a sort of "celebrity/idol worshipping" stance on the matter. They believe their streamer is their friend when it comes to that (this mostly applies to significantly younger audiences, as I'm sure most adults would definitely not let themselves be manipulated so easily like that.)

In that situation I put above, it's a matter of the viewer thinking that their "idol" cares about them when they show a genuine reaction to their donation and praise them, and in some vain scenario where the viewer meets them irl and realizes their idol doesn't know who they are, then... well, I don't need to tell you the rest there.

But, that's just a very specific scenario, and I'm sure some other people have counterexamples to that and probably better organized than my scatterbrained...ness.

  23. Microtransactions and EA fuckery aside, Battlefront 2 is not a bad game. In fact it's actually quite fun, but just for the simple fact that EA had it's dirty, greedy hands all over it is what upsets my stomach a little inside. It could've been awesome and I wanted it to be awesome, but EA didn't want any of that.

I don't base my enjoyment off of what critics score a game, but most of the review scores that you might see from the game are mostly laddened with the caveat that it is a solid game at its core, but flawed in aspects regarding the obvious EA involvement, loot box progression, and a few minor things.

But, in my opinion, disregarding microtransactions and loot box progression, the game is a solid 8/10 for me, and I think that's fair. A tad flawed, a tad rushed (okay, maybe a lot rushed), but fun at its core.

    1. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

Yeah, Activision, or sorry: Activision Blizzard is known for their focus testing and trying to appeal to their one and only audience, and making everything as boring as possible, while shoving microtransactions down everybody's throats. They would've focus tested the shit out of Battlefront 2 and made it just another, glorified Call of Duty game, rather than what it is now, which has more substance than anything they could ever make - let's be real here.

    2. (See 3 other replies to this status update)

EA published it, and with certain publishers the developers have to adhere to certain... criteria that must be met or the developers won't get the funding for their game. EA basically said "put microtransactions in the game, till it's fit to burst, and make it a pay to win system. Everything else is up to you." Activision is a million times worse and would definitely NOT result in anything better.

Activision made a system in the recent CoD where you get something for watching people open loot boxes. Like... WHAT?

  25. So... how about that Net Neutrality? T-Minus 3 weeks until the final decision is made. It's quite literally the final countdown to the biggest shit-storm the internet has ever witnessed.

    1. Dylanrockin

      Dylanrockin

I'm just questioning why anyone would've wanted to vote for the tyrant of a president we have now, to have him be the supporter of removing Net Neutrality - the fucking hack. I'm just eagerly awaiting for all the protests and boycotts of companies like Verizon, until they realize just how badly the fucked up and they can face the music like EA is, with Battlefront. The same principle applies, where they do something the internet REALLY does not like, and then the internet makes their voice known in a very unpleasant way, and giving the recipient a whole lot of negative PR and loss of credibility. Among other things.
