Nah, she's not related to the odd key. The odd key can be found somewhere else in Narcissa's gym, and she has nothing to do with it. Curious though, that's the first time i've heard about this girl.

Angie's gym, the 7th gym, is the last gym of that version.

It's been a while since I've actually played the game since my laptop broke, but when I had to test the game it was solo for me as well and I'm pretty sure I was playing on normal mode, but yeah it's probably intended to be that way since I don't recall Jan saying anything different :V Update: Appearantly Melia joins you in the battle if you say she's the strongest.

I'd say try finding an Ability capsule and change it into competetive.

I'm pretty sure you also battle them solo on normal mode-- I had to battle them solo as well, and I don't think I was on intense mode.

I think you have to talk to her, or you have to stand in the middle of your rectangle part of the battlefield for it to activate. If that doesn't work, you should put your save in the save help topic so Jan can help you out with that later.

I'd say try training Houndour, train it to a Houndoom (it evolves at level 24) and get it to learn a few dark moves. It learns Bite at level 16 and Beat Up at level 25, and Feint Attack at level 35 as a Houndoom (or 32 if you keep him as a Houndour until then). It might help you out. Herdier learns Crunch at level 24, plus it's immune to ghost type attacks, so you could consider training that one as well. You could do that and it might work out well, but I haven't tried out using these pokémon myself, so please take everything I said with a grain of salt! I just hope it might work out in your favor :V

This was SUPER LONG AGO and really early in the beta stage-- even before a bunch of changes were made to Gearen, but I lost to the first trainer you had to battle. A bidoof took me down with super fang. Embarassing is an understatement :V

During the events of Carotos mountain, Madelis breaks your snag machine so you can't catch her shadow pokémon. After that, it doesn't get fixed until later in the game, but it WILL get fixed. You'll just have to keep playing until then. Afterwards you'll be able to get froakie!
