A new species of a bee was named after Charizard

Okay wait, looking at the thing, it certainly looks twisted and vicious. The reason given for naming it after Charizard is apparently because of its long snout, and broad hind legs, and the fact that it lives around mountains. Still, Beedrill would have been more appropriate, if the fellow who named it had any sense.

There's a protein named after pikachu and a species of pterodactyl named after aerodactyl, so I guess people who discover this stuff only know of gen 1 for whatever reason.
That's why I think we don't get new species named after things like vespiquen or lumineon, to name two that have clear animal-based origins.
