It's a bit of a complex field as it has multiple stages and certain moves add or subtract a stage. photon geyser/dazzling gleam/luster purge/light of ruin/flash/flash cannon all reduce the stage by 1, as does sunny day and light that burns the sky which reduces it by 2 stages. Dark pulse/night daze/ominous wind/astral barrage and moongeist beam add a stage along with dark void which adds 2 stages so you want to use whichever one is gonna make life easier for you. The higher the stage, the more benefit dark types get as they take less damage. Dark surge not only sets it up on level 2 but also increases it one stage if used on an already existing dark field and if it hits level 3 Megamighty gets a nice speed boost(which nearly cost me my fight against aurora).
On stage 2 dark/ghost types take 90% damage of attacks,. On stage 3 they take 75% instead. I don't know if the damage reduction stacks for pokemon of both types(like mega mightyena). If it did it'd be 80%/50% respectively.
Further adding to the snowballing is that on stage 3 both types lose their weaknesses. And you wonder why dark surge only lasts 3 turns? Darkness level 3 is brutal that's why.
Not all dark type moves are buffed because not all dark type moves utilize actual darkness. It's also why several ghost types are buffed on it as well, because shadow ball and such do utilize actual darkness and shadows or such. TBH I personally find false surrender and throat chop's inclusion in the buff list questionable, as I don't feel they fit in with moves that are appropriately buffed on the field, but for gameplay reasons I can accept them benefitting.
It's in your field notes too though I forget where you find it.

Stockpile - raises defense/special defense by 2 stages
swallow - additionally increases attack and special attack by one stage for each stockpile amount -TASTY!-
stuff cheeks - additionally recovers HP(1/3 max HP), activates even if not holding berry
Grav Apple - def is lowered by 2 stages
Apple Acid - special def is lowered by 2 stages
lick - BP increased to 60
belch - doesn't require berry to be consumed
bite - 1.3x damage, additional health draining effect(50% of damage done) - chow time! -
crunch -1.3x damage additional health draining effect(50% of damage done)
egg bomb - always hits, BP -> 120
softboiled - attack made following turn will be a critical hit - Invigorating! -
milk drink -attack made following turn will be a critical hit.
Pulverizing Pancake - additionally removes any hazards from Snorlax's side of the field
teatime - additionally raises special attack of all pokemon affected by the move - the tea was delectable!-
natural gift - BP is always 90 regardless of berry used, typing still depends on the berry
special type fire moves - 1.3x power - fresh out the oven! -
Bug type attacks - damage 0.75% - there's a fly in the soup!-
spit up - stat drop increased by one additional stage. - mind your table manners!-
acid - power x0.75

Overheat(x2), Inferno Overdrive, Blast Burn(x2) - the food was burnt to a crisp...
sludge wave(x2), Acid Downpour- the meal has gone foul....
camouflage turns user into Normal
nature power becomes egg bomb
secret power -> health drain effect(50% damage done)
artificial seed - sharply raises speed and adds regenerative effect at the end of each turn(1/16th of max HP).

I'm not quite sure when it started happening, sometime around nightmare city or shortly after is when I started noticing it, but after going through a battle and returning to the overworld, the "fireplace" ambient sound will continuously play, and doesn't go away except when I transition into a battle screen or do the undergrounds minigame. Then it continues again once I return to the overworld. If I restart the game it goes away but then it pops up again after going into battle. Anyway to stop this? This hasn't been an issue until recently but i's a bit annoying.

I actually like the rejuv shaymin, golduck, albino raticate, and Toucan Sam is amusing IMO. Ferrothorn doesn't look that bad either and neither does Xatu. clefairy/Clefable are supposed to resemble Gengar I think but it misses the mark on execution. Gourgeist I would've colored like a regular jack o lanturn, seems like such an obvious shiny idea.
Seaking is just terrible though, I know Seaking is boring but that's just inexcusable. Kingler is awful too. Mamoswine is almost good but the feet should be a different color and maybe the tusk as it blends too much with the white fur.

Doesn't grookey set auto terrain with its HA? That seems like a big deal especially with pokemon to support it.
I planned on using scorbunny since it's like, my favorite galar starter. Glad to hear it kicks butt.

Beards or moustache? Jellicent is more of a mustache IMO.
Conkledurr has a goatee and is a good pokemon.
Beartic has a beard of ice. He's even better in Reborn due to field effects

Once again many thanks and congratulations on finishing the game. A FINISHED fangame is a triumph in itself but one on the quality level of Reborn is a truly noteworthy accomplishment.
Also wow at that wallpaper artwork!!! I do find it a bit funny everyone is so happy considering Reborn is kinda dark lol. But it's nice to see them in full, especially since it's a bit hard to see the outfit details in the game sprites.
But wasn't there a Radomus one where he had the pyramid hat? I certainly remember that being a header...

Ah didn't realize you were that much higher levelled...hmm yeah that is weird.

Voltorb has 100 base speed, roselia is only 65. That's a pretty massive speed gap and I'm not sure if IVs/EVs around early game would be enough to offset it.

Yeah it stuck out to me that scene was removed. There's a LOT of changes so far(just beat shelly last night), ep 19 effectively feels to Reborn what 3rd versions are in official games. In general, it feels like things that were told to us or implied before now actually happen during the game.

Soo I just found out ep 19 finished...thank you. Just thank you for sticking with this, high points and low, never giving up on it like the fate of so many fanworks. Ame, marcello, and everyone who worked on this game, even in the smallest of ways, you guys have made something to be proud of. I know Reborn isn't a game for *everyone* but that's fine, those of us who do enjoy it and appreciate all the love and tears put over this past decade plus can't thank you enough for giving us this wonderful experience.

Is Lin having a Victini why she always wins? Like it guarantees victory so that's why Titania couldn't kill her? And how her Hydriegon survived Ame's Ninetales?

I'm still thinking about the "Lin violently blows up into pieces" on Shade's monitor. As satisfying as it is thinking she dies like that, I feel like it won't be as it appears. Considering we see light bursting out from behind her, I think it's either
-ditto, disguised as Lin
-Lin revealing her body to be a vessel of some sort and the actual entity inside/controlling her unveiling itself in spectacular fashion(giratina perhaps?)
-Lin actually getting blown up, but then appearing unharmed afterwards because she's like, immortal.
One of the scenes I'm looking forward to most is seeing the full context of this scene. I'd prefer if she really did die like that but then that begs the question of where that light is coming from.

The house battle has people using their pokemon to directly attack too. Sirius has his seviper poison fang Flobot and julia has her electrode attack Sirius in return. Also Amaria has Lapras attack the grunts to clear a way for you in Blackstream.
Of course we can't forget the Torkoal in the beginning and Lin vs Ame.

I don't buy Meteor not being bad before lin shot up in control. They might not have been as extreme but fact is they still sought to "cleanse" the city which sounds pretty sus IMO and Solaris despite being "old school" Meteor is still a pretty awful person given his actions in the game. So far I've found no reason to sympathize with Meteor and everything bad that's happened to them kinda resulted from their own actions previously.

Remember the ability sychronize makes it so wild pokemon have a much higher chance of matching holder's nature. If you're leading with a timid sychronizer(like kadabra or gardevoir) then there you go.

Whoa this is actually really neat. You should give Terra Lassiure or whatever that ground psuedo is called. I remember it being an absolute beast in my playthrough.

Ummmm it's been a while since I played this but I don't recall ever having this much trouble getting the train to actually start in the underground railnet . I have the tracks aligned correctly but nothing is happening. What am I missing?
EDIT: nevermind I was supposed to talk to shelly. Goodness poor girl I completely passed her lol.

I'm honestly surprised Darma can be gotten at the point where you can get it. It hits harder than most mega pokemon and I've had it even OHKO pokemon with double resist. Lowkey one of the best pokemon, the you just gotta have support so it actually gets to attack.
