I'm one of those who prefer the Elite Four to be literally the ELITE FOUR strongest trainers. So I'd be cool with it. Of all battles that should have all Ubers...

I would be OK with it depending on the Ubers, if its like jumpluff and maybe one common legendary (Bird trio, Lati@s, etc) then fine but if its something that they really shouldn't have like Dialga then I'm going to complain. I'm in this for the plot and characters, Reborn unlike most fan games has been very good at staying faithful to the game's lore.

It may be that in the Ideal route, he and Laura will side together for a double-Elite Four battle. Whereas in the Truth route, it will be one or the other, depending on choices we made? Perhaps Benette being told the right answer at the Glass Factory will trigger a different outcome?

I could see Lin killing him to be honest. Though that is as likely as anyone else dying at this point.

The more I think of her, the more I feel like Lin is trying to free Giratina and Arceus is just in the way. I don't know. That passage in the Subseven Sanctum about "The Darkest Beast lies at Light's End." just sounds so epic. It would be awesome and an amazing twist if maybe Lin IS Giratina, through some proxy. Or perhaps she and Shade are working together, with the latter being the proxy. And their goal is actually a good one: stop the eternal time-loop or at least complete it. But to do that they had to reach the goal by hard decisions. Or something. Possibilities abound. But all this conjecture does one thing for sure:

HYPE! I am hyped for 19. But also sad. Knowing this will finally end.

Also, Merry Christmas to Reborn's devs! Thank you for updating the AI! It was my biggest complaint and one of the key features of the game that I most anticipated getting fixed or at least addressed in some way. THANK YOU! It is a present well wished for!

The different route bosses is a great idea but IMO Lin and Giratina secretly being good isn't. It doesn't line up Lin's personality and Giraina was so violent it was locked up in the Distortion World. Pokemon isn't really the place to do the subversive God is evil and Satan is good trope. I'd also like both routes to be valid, having the Zeckrom route end on a bad end where everyone is stuck in a timeloop just because you decided to support a fan favorite character is needlessly punishing.

  2. Ah backup has arrived. Return Jiggly! While your Crobat could use it's Extreme Speed to knock out Galahad, I have someone that will make it Knock Off. Go Artorias!

(the pokeball releases a Dusk Lycanroc)

Face it you Impidimp, even if you somehow got past Ultra Necrozma's squad I will at the very least be able to revive Angel and heal Galahad if not get away entirely. You have no Chansey, you are at the Stone Edge of defeat!

I don't know which planet you are living on, but a Gallade wouldn't be able to knock out a Charizard, since not only is Charizard faster, but also has type advantage as a FLYING type....

Some hero you are, getting your own Pokémon killed. Grilled Budew it is! EP19's patch notes will be stating "Budew has been removed from the game due to an 'accident' with a Charizard" XD

Also why are you defending these vile creatures? Didn't you know that the Budew are planning to take over world domination and enslave everyone? Why do you think the great queen Shelly has done everything in her power to strenghten the bug empire? It's all so Budew can't do any harm to her or to the friends she holds dear.

Team Meteor and/or Lin have NEVER been the real threat at all. They all have been manipulated by the Budew from the very beginning.

Type advantage isn't everything and you forget I mega evolved Galahad earlier in our confrontation. Since you failed to do anything to boost your normal Charizard it lacked the power to oneshot Galahad and got slayed by the knight's critical psycho cut!

I defend them because I was commanded to. Arceus wants them alive so trainers can enjoy having a Roserade if they wish to. Like I said I am merely a servant. Now if you excuse me I need to heal my pokemon and take these Budew to a safe place so I have no time to listen to the ramblings of a criminal.

(throws a pokeball holding a Wigglytuff)

Have a nice nap, the police will be with you shortly!

(Jiggly the Wigglytuff starts singing and you feel drowsy)

Rly? Para-flinch Togekiss? You DO know that all it needs to stop that is a Crobat? Good luck flinching Inner Focus Crobat that's coming at you, using cross poison.....

Also it seems that my Pokémon love these grilled veggies.....We're making good progress.....Budew will be removed from the game soon....

It was a distraction, while you were occupied with Angel, I had Galahad knock out your Charizard and switch out the budew with actual grilled veggies. The Reborn region will continue to have a perfect national pokedex!

What are you? Some kind of angel? Interesting.....so it's an angel vs a demon.....

I shall never release the Budew, for i must punish all of them for the great sin they commited! If thou try to stop me, thou shall feel my wrath as well!

No nothing so grand as that, I'm merely a humble servant like that heretic Elias used to be but if its angels you want....

(throws two pokeballs releasing Galahad the Gallade and Angel the Togekiss, both male and LV100)

The Budew have committed no sin, only the lord is the decider of that not you! You should also know that the police are on their way, there is no escape for you, justice will be done. Its time to tip the scales!

(The Swordsman's Arceus pendant glows and Galahad evolves into Mega Gallade, all three then rush at you)

Aww shit.....and here i already caught dozens of Budew and i was planning to torture them until Arceus shows up to punish me for my deeds, so i can force Arceus itself to spill the beans......

I've been told by our lord to come and stop you. (draws sword and points it at you) Release the Budews now or I will drag you into the light!

    Spoiler

    =P

I don't know about incompetent, but gods are cruel sometimes...

Or is it cruel because they are incompetent?

A mystery that will never be solved by a mortal being....

What seems cruel from one point of view, may in fact be something good for you or for the protection of others. The problem is mortals never have the complete picture.

oh my god will you shut up about the E3 stuff, you'll end up buying the game anyway wether they "fix" it or not just admit it.

Wrong. I didn't buy Lets Go for this reason and I don't play certain Pokemon fan games for this reason. (which to remind you are free) My favorite pokemon are deal breakers.

    • Thanks 1
  9. Well after some depressing news coming out of E3 that may have me hang up my trainer hat, I have become even more appreciative of Ame and Jan for giving us these awesome new experiences while also taking the time to make sure all the pokemon and innovations are in the game despite not having even half of the number of people on the team that Game Freak has, I know its been said again and again but thank you all for your hard work.

Im sure E19 will give us enough department stickers to obtain the choice items easily, if you have the money.

I'd love the game to have some kind of restricting features, to make to game just a bit more challenging, like through a password if you start a new run after finishing the main story. Things like:

    • Lower the level cap by 5 (your side only)
    • double item costs
    • restrict the use of items in battle (besides Pokéballs)
    • make enemy attacks deal 1,1 times the original damage.

I'd be fine with it as long as it wasn't required for something, just a option for those who want more a challenge. I never was into Reborn for its difficulty.

Then you've got Kadabra evolving from Abra even though from the pokedex you learn it was actually an esper kid or Nanette being a possessed/cursed toy when it also evolves from another Pokémon...

The pokedex doesn't say that every Kadabra is a esper, just that suddenly a highly powerful male esper woke up one day transformed into a Kadabra, its a isolated incident.

No, I'm not cherry picking - I got nothing against the fact that its skin reaches twice the sun's temperature, cos it is in line with pokemon world: fire-spitting dragons, small water mons producing infinite amounts of water under high pressure in their intensines, making lasers from solar energy and so on - I'm against the fact that this skin doesn't make him melt through metal floor, doesn't increase significantly temperature of its surroundings etc. - another example is Wailord that should float in the air.

The authors may write whatever the heck they want into dex entries as long as it makes sense in-world and the consequences follow it and it is consistent. Even Bill turning himself into a pokemon from the post above makes sense, since both Humanity and Pokemon share the same origin, so we may straight say it makes in-world sense, without overthinking. But the next post above is a good example of these being sometimes cool, but most often completely out of the blue descriptions. Same, 1st gen events and dex description might imply that the only Cubone that wears its mother skull would be the one with mother killed by Team Rocket (and I'm not even bringing ''nobody has seen its face'' - geez, there are people that have no problem with killing a marowak, but there was none to get one cubone and crush the helmet or take it off by force? This is not making cubone look mysterious, it's dumb).

And again, canonicaly, pokemon lay eggs, they dont give birth, so what makes you think that ''the way the journals are phrased'' implies there's nothing metaphorical to it? I'd say the otherwise, the scientist who wrote them was in euphoria (there is an exclamation mark there) when writing about Mew producing an offspring, nothing precise there.

You have no problem considering some dex entries as canon but not others, that sounds like cherry picking to me. Have you considered the possibility that it can control how it's body impacts the world? It is basically a fire elemental after all and technically Wailord does float in air in battle.

Its stated in a matter of fact way, also if Mewtwo was produced via a egg like most normal pokemon than why can't you breed Mew in universe? Nothing in the games states that Pokemon eggs are the only way to get baby pokemon, in fact most legendary pokemon can not be breed the normal way, even though the non unique ones are capable of producing offspring.

  12. 18 hours ago, Egzample said:

Some info from dex entries are cool, backstories, how things function (which were also used in Reborn, e.g. Chandelure burning souls) etc., on the other hand, we have stuff like Wailord being less dense than the air and Magcargo being twice as hot as the sun and more. It feels off to the point of ridicolousness, non-consistent with the in-world logic, since in all other instances it follows normal physics (roughly, teleporters are only slighlty bending the rules, and dont give me ''there are flying birds spitting fire and such info is something you see being off?'' b**t).

There is also this whole grey zone of  ''do they eat each other? Do people eat them?'' - this gap is left for non-adult target, as well as ''nobody seen pokemon mate, the eggs just appear'', what makes me doubt ''giving birth'' have any other than metaphorical meaning.

Like I said before Magcargo's dex entry isn't as crazy as it seems not only does it not have mass for that temperature to matter, scientists have created far hotter temperatures in a lab. It feels off and doesn't follow ingame logic in your opinion, at this point you are just cherry picking what you want to believe no matter what the canon is. The way the journals are phrased makes it clear that there is nothing metaphorical going on. While Pokemon is inspired by the real world, it is a fantasy world, that is a fact and while I won't give you bird pokemon breathing fire, I will give you a dragon that split into three different beings thanks to a argument and another dragon that does nothing but consume, yet leaves no waste. There is no grey zone at all, it is stated as fact even outside the Pokedex entries that pokemon eat each other and Gen 6 cleared up people eating pokemon, they do, you can even order some pokemon for yourself.

Aren't some parts of early gens considered to be... arguable? Like, dex entries, which usually dont make sense even up until now, or stuff like that. I don't even think Mew (or any mon) have birth canal...

As far as the game's canon goes, not really. Nintendo and Game Freak to this day still have that as Mewtwo's canon origin, despite the multiple chances to change it in remakes or update it when Mewtwo appears. Only some fans take issue with it and the pokedex entries despite this being a fantasy world. Heck some of the dex entries aren't as ridiculous as they sound like Magcargo's, which doesn't have enough mass to be the world ending pokemon some people think it is, at best it would singe you if stood by it for a long time. The Pokemon Adventures/Special manga even uses dex entries as plot points.

I seem to recall the "giving birth" as a metaphor for Mewtwo being created from Mew and being "born" into the Cinnabar Island lab/Mansion.

For the UBs, I'm already looking for where in Reborn could Celesteelas live (?)

It wasn't a metaphor going by how the journal entries are written, which can all be found here,

Mewtwo was probably cloned the real world way.

    HYPE!

And dear lord does it look like a lot of work! Idk if the LEGENDARY quests will be open for debate, but if they were, I would love to see the Mew/ Mewtwo Quests pan out like in the first Pokémon Movie! You know, where these Archeologists get an eyebrow of Mew and create Mewtwo in a laboratory with the eyebrows DNA. Mewtwo than completely destroys the lab be4 making his home on a lonesome island with an abducted Nurse Joy.  Mewtwo then delivers invitations to all the strong trainers for a contest on his island in an attempt to clone their Pokés. SO MUCH ROOM FOR CREATIVITY!!!

also, I have to watch the first Pokémon Movie now, see ya! 😄

Reborn tries its best to stay true to the world of the games instead of the world of the anime, so its more likely the Mewtwo will be the feral one that Mew gave birth to instead of the talking Team Rocket created one.

On the subject of UBs while they are wild, I wonder if they are going to attack Reborn like they did to Alola and the GB version of Hoen.

  16. Besides Fern and Titania, the character I hate the most is Sirius. Not only has he harmed multiple families to get the keys, He destroyed Eclipse's soul. For that I consider him to be worse than Lin and any other pokemon villain besides maybe Indriad/Vitus/Sirius/whatever that guy's name is from Rejuvenation.

So because i don't share your opinion that means i didn't read what you said, @The Swordsman?

El may be your favorite villain, but i do not have to like him because of that.

As far as i am concerned El reminds me of one of these religious fanatics who would kill thousands of innocent people for their own "justice"

Don't get me wrong though. I do like the fact that Reborn does a pretty good job at displaying villains whose actions, apart from their motivations or goals, can truly be considered evil. The story gives you the feeling of fighting against really dangerous criminals who are a real threat to this games world.

No, what I'm getting at is it seems to me that you are giving me a hard time for liking him, that I shouldn't like him. I know he his villain and a extremist, you don't have to convince me of that.
