I have 2 badges right now. It's safe to continue with episode 19 or not? I just don't wanna lose my Gastly.

In general we can't guaruntee savefiles will work in E19 unless they are brand new or have fully completed E18 on account of a lot of the ways things have changed - Unfortunately if you want to be sure things won't break your best choices are either to start anew, or keep playing your file up to the end of the current E18 release before you upgrade to E19

You know you gotta make this trainer a doubles fight now.

Sure why not, I guess we should.

    Lin 100% win rate

Levitate double speed pulse2 hydreigon x1.5 boost dark pulse x1.5 boost flash cannon x2 boost draco meteor x4 boost Black Hole Eclipse

Listen, I'm not gonna say that's the exact set her Hydreigon runs. But I'm also not gonna say that's NOT the exact set her Hydreigon runs.

Oh, THE LABRADORRA GRAND TOURNAMENT OF B00TY battle royal is neat. Hype train speeds up.

Well, since we don`t know (or know?) Lin`s team, but field boosts both of them, who was the winner of the battle between Lin and Saphira? If it`s possible to spoiler lol

So on Lin'scorrect format, Lin beat Saphira when they fought (Because she beat nearly everyone), but on Saphira's correct format it looks like she managed to incredibly narrowly beat Lin, which is fun!

Unfortunately you fight them both on their respective correct formats, so they're at their best. Have fun with that!

Ah another post from the dev team, what else do you have store for us.  Those rates about the gym leaders look very interesting, but I noticed that in the E4 rates two of them are identical.

Also I liked Lin and Saphira's new sprites, as they look cool in those styles. Hmm I can wait to enter the tournament as well, but also the final showdown in Labradorra City and in Charous Mountain. Better hurry now

For the record, those two were not actually identical! They had a one win difference between them, but both rounded to 96.0! I tried to specifically point out all the exact ties!

All my sympathy for how stupid somebody must have felt when noticing that kind of error. From my very limited experience, these are the worst errors to happen in a program, as they won't keep it from functioning but it may yield unpredictable results...

I am also surprised at saying that the AI was better than you: I understood you worked quite a lot on it, how can your program beat you? Has the singularity happened? Has the Reborn AI become sentient?

Or maybe you can't keep up with all the calculations/checks it does, and/or you don't access all the information it knows?

Also, can I say that with E18.2 and that, I'm terrified of how E19 is going to end me? Or, more accurately, how many times I'm going to lose?

I was going to write a long text about who to eliminate for the quote, but I got lazy. Too many possibilities, too many possible recipients (emotional depth is very subjective), and a few people who would be glad to insult each recipient. Fern or Titania to Florinia could work, but they both already lashed out (maybe not in every timeline, though).

For what it's worth, while I programmed the AI, Ame is the one who actually designed it, and she is far better at pokemon than me. I'm, on the whole, pretty bad at mons. If it gets better than her, THEN we should be worried.

But it's also worth noting that the AI does a lot of calculations and keeps track of a lot of info so it has that edge too.

    I like your story 🙂

    Just two questions:

Forest´s Curse *adds* the grass-typing, so it should be a water/normal/grass type and Phantom Force should not hit anyways. So the AI applying Forest´s Curse can´t really be the main problem. Or am I wrong?

And how can Soaks code be the same? It´s different than Forest´s Curse and Trick-or-Treat since it actually makes the target a pure water type instead of adding grass/ghost.

In Reborn, Forest's Curse and Trick-Or-Treat work similarly to Soak by just replacing the typing, due to limitations of the system, adding third types was infeasible without a lot of work, so the code for Trick-or-Treat and Forest's Curse is more or less identical to that of Soak.

  6. (tl;dr

Trevenants were hitting normal types with Phantom Force, but only sometimes, in very specific circumstances, at specific levels, and never when we tried to test it, or with any other pokemon. As it turns out, Trick or Treat and Forest's Curse were applying their type change as long as the move was in the known, even without using it and the problem was being caused in the most unlikely place, the AI of all things.

Thanks, I'm Marcello and this has been my TED talk about literally the jankiest fucking bug I have fixed all throughout E18 testing.)

  7. We're in testing at the moment. The content has been done for a while but we go out of our way to test things very thoroughly so everyone can have the best and least buggy experience we can manage when we do release.

  8. There are no 'extra additions', as it were, all content is done, as said of being at 100%. We're just going through testing to polish things up. After all, would you rather a buggy mess now, or a polished product in some time? I think most people would rather the latter, and it's definitely what we'd rather put out.

  9. The development of the episode is done, but there are many stages of testing. Supervised and internal are both done now, and we are currently on alpha. After alpha there is beta testing, and after that is when the community release will be.

And Ame has been updating the obtainable pokemon list on the site with a few mons daily, just so we can slowly but surely all see what stuff was added and so on.

I'm pretty sure it's been said in other posts that all Gen 7 Pokemon will be in the post-game at the soonest, so I doubt that we'll be seeing anything until episode 19 whenever that comes out (that last episode I expect will take a long time).

This is incorrect, all Gen 7 pokemon are being fully implemented throughout the game, distributed throughout the wild, events, and opposing trainers. Indeed, we've already done these distributions (That's what the 'Gameplay' section of Gen VII content meant). Indeed, while I can't make any promises on whether A. Marowak will be obtainable yet or not, going into E17 we're pretty far through the game, makes sense that most things will be available by now.

  11. Tfw I first fell for the April Fools version of the post, and I was reading through it and all I could think was 'Wait, shit, did I read the wrong field info when I was implemented Psychic Terrain, I didn't program any of this stuff!'

I shortly after realised the truth, but it still got me. I'm a big fan of what Ame's donewith this field, for sure!

  12. Of all the fun field updates that were done for the Gen VII release, this one was certainly one of my favourites, and the variety of effects is brilliant, I'm sure eveyone, myself included, will have some fun with these! And then the leaders will use them to ruin your fun.
