  1. Frankly, before this gets swept under the rug.

You the costumer, should have arguing power here. If you already purchased a room before this post was made, you purchased it with only one stipulation.

    - That the room be used.

Meaning, so long as the room was used, you are NOT obligated to pay these folks any more rupees than you already have paid them for your room. This change in policy was communicated in a manner that was forceful and even though I am part of the team that brought it to you, I encourage you previous room owners to fight it. The object of the rent-a-room policy is so that they can clean the room list efficiently. It's merely spring cleaning.

You're going to get offered two options (which Ame failed to provide in the original post, conveniently.) in that you can get a full refund or a free year of purge protection.

I urge you to take neither and fight for a grandfather clause. You only have one condition to fill in your contract. That your room be used.

  2. Name: Helene "White" LeBlanc

    Age:14

    Hometown: Shalour City [Kalos]

    Program: Trainer

    Faction: Student

Appearance: Helene is around 4'9" in height, and noticeably athletic in build for a young teen. Her sandy blonde hair will almost always be seen in a simple ponytail, with a headband holding the hair above her forehead out of her eyes, a la tennis player. Helene continues the tennis player trend throughout the rest of her outfit whenever not dressed in school attire, with athletic fabric composing her tank and skirt. She prefers no-show socks and a good pair of running or tennis shoes to round out her casual outfit. Her eyes are brown, and her facial composition is almost doll-like, lacking dimples unless she's grinning particularly wide for whatever reason.

Personality: Helene is a genuinely walk-first, talk-afterwards kind of person. Instead of taking verbal abuse and throwing it back with words, she'll oblige to action and usually will silence the antagonist there. Aside from that, Helene will seem asocial, opting to dream, think, and assess her environment inwardly. She usually is the one answering questions aimed at her, as opposed to asking them herself - but she is not afraid of responding to prompts. She is calm, cool, and collected - noticeably hard to rattle in most situations. The most positive trait about her is her undying loyalty, and her most negative trait is being impersonal at times.

Starter: Pancham (Level 8) -Fighting- - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Foul Play (egg move)

Backstory: Born in the Kalos region to a wealthy family, Helene arrives at Ymora not expecting to make friends and only in trying to get high marks. She has had everything she has ever needed to succeed in Kalos, and is somewhat pampered in that regard. Before going to the Academy, she has always had help, and said help has made her itch to accomplish things on her own. Aside from her wealthy upbringing, "White" has always been an only child with a lot of expectation put on her shoulders. Not only has she little experience of doing something herself, but she has all of the spotlight shining on her back home...

Shalour was a haven for Fighting type Pokemon, and Pancham is one of the Kalosian representatives of the type. The Pancham was never caught with a Pokeball, and has followed Helene since they encountered one another. Pancham provided Helene with a goal she could call her own, no matter how much her parents wanted to claim the accolades for her success. In many ways, Pancham was the driving factor for Helene going to Ymora.

  3. Oh, okay then. Bear with me, I might literally be terrible at this sort of thing.

    1. Yes, I would like to see Ymora be rebooted.

    2. I feel like re-using previous PCs should be encouraged if the posters have an arc they feel they want to continue or a new one at the ready.

    3. Whatever the majority feels is acceptable.

    4. I hope to enjoy being a little creative and get my feet wet with all of this.

    5. Do I wait for a character submission thread or something? How do I start?

  4. Kanto:

Favorite: Lorelei. - For many, Lorelei was the tone setter for the Elite Four experiences to come. We were used to gym trainers and experience gets and running to the safety of the Pokemon Center whenever we needed heals and whatnot - but when you enter a chamber with just the confident Lorelei and....well, nothing else. You know you were in for the gauntlet. Lorelei thus is the most memorable Kanto representative in a positive manner.

Least Favorite: Lance. - His story of ascent is cute in all - but I actually liked Bruno more than I did Lance. The major issue with Lance though is the severe lack of Dragon types available.

    Johto:

Favorite: Karen. - Karen pretty much spits at the idea of Smogon tiers and liking a Pokemon because it's viable competitively alone. I love that shit, man.

Least Favorite: Bruno. - This guy...didn't progress at all. Why did he make a comeback? -THIS- is where he fouled out with me.

    Hoenn:

Favorite: Sydney. - Sydney used a lot of interesting Dark types throughout the various iterations of 3rd gen games. He's just...cool.

Least Favorite: Phoebe. - Hoenn didn't have enough Ghost types and this Elite Four member had to deal with it. Banette is not a good Pokemon without a Mega Stone.

Sinnoh: Didn't play. Favorite would have to be Flint due to story interaction.

    Unova

Favorite: Marshal - Marshal is like Bruno but actually involved with the story instead of passive and yet...recurring. Marshal was what Bruno could have been.

Least Favorite: Caitlin - Least Favorite type of the 4. Good Character and recurring from Gen 4 make it just a necessary denotion and nothing more here.

    Kalos:

Favorite: Siebold - Siebold is a chef. His art is the kind of art that has a short shelf life - and while he is adamant about his own position. So am I. This guy is rad.

Least Favorite: Drasna - Drasna's just lacking in substance. Wikstrom at the very least represented the culture with honor. Again, only because I have to pick a least favorite.

  5. My favorite Mega-Evolution has quickly become Mega Camerupt.

Camerupt's ability Sheer Force allows it to become a fearsome wallbreaker with decent enough bulk to take a hit and dish out a KO.

Other good ones are the Charizard variants, Gardevoir, Gallade, Lucario, Glalie, and Banette.

  6. "...but LOOK AT THOSE HANDS...of COURSE you're going to give it something to hold....how 'bout a Life Orb? how about a CHOICE BAND? HOW ABOUT A F*CKING CHAINSAW???"

-Dookieshed, from his YouTube video entitled "Mega Rayquaza Will F*ck You Up"

Hello, Ladies, Gents, and dignified others.

Today, we're going to take a look at often disregarded game-changers of the Pokemon universe. It's common knowledge that -most- pokemon are not up to their full potential unless holding an item that aids them in battle. Sometimes, these items are consumed. Sometimes these items will wreak havoc until knocked off, stolen, or the wielder faints.

So, which of these various weapons strikes your fancy? Here's 10 of mine. Tell me what yours are too rather than complaining at me, okay?

    ---

    Number 10: The Lucky Egg

The Lucky Egg boosts the holder's experience point gain in battle. This item makes the list because it's one of those items that if you have a lot of them, make experience grinding a lot more efficient than using the "new" experience share in my opinion. Boosted XP > Shared XP. You can obtain several of these nifty training items by chaining Pelipper in ORAS.

    Number 9: the Liechi Berry

This berry boosts a Pokemon's Attack upon consumption - and is also a really good berry to use in conjunction with physical sweepers using 'Unburden.' - although also in conjunction with the move 'Substitute.' The cool thing about berries is the ability 'Harvest' - which allows for berries to return to the Pokemon and be consumed every other turn - allowing for the Liechi Berry here to boost a Pokemon to +6 under the right conditions. No need to waste a move slot for Belly Drum!

    Number 8: the Smoke Ball

Ain't nobody got time for wild Pokemon sometimes. This is a good item to have on Pokemon who are going to have difficulty fleeing from most wild Pokemon encounters as it essentially gives ANY Pokemon you want the effects of the ability "Run Away" - meaning fleeing wild Pokemon is a cinch. I enjoy using THIS item instead of Repels personally, in case I missed a rare encounter when spraying up. These can be found on Wild Koffing using your DexNav in ORAS (and is also somewhat common in Reborn)

    Number 7: the Quick Claw

The Quick Claw is often one of the earliest items you can pick up in a story run of any main series game - and early on, particularly if you like using slower Pokemon - it's effect of occasionally letting slower 'mons move first is much appreciated. I've found that this does a good job in training fossil Pokemon - which I do like to use from time to time.

    Number 6: the Amulet Coin

Hey you....do you wanna be RICH? HELL YEAH you do. The amulet coin, when given to a battle participant, will cause the opposing NPCs you defeat in battle to pay out more cash. This is a particularly useful item for rematches and works insanely well in one of my favorite distractions in Pokemon - Kalos' Battle Chateau...or....um....whichever one isn't the one that rewards you battle points and is filled with nooby trainers where you get ranks after battling enough of them. That thing, is a very fun money making method and the only place to Audino train in Kalos.....anyway, the Amulet Coin is an item you will probably have used at some point during your journey.

    Number 5: the Eviolite

The greatest thing to ever happen to Little Cup and the savior for Not-Fully-Evolved Pokemon in competitive play. Also that thing that somehow makes Chansey better than Blissey. That sin is forgivable. Maybe. This item boosts both Defense and Special Defense when the Pokemon is not fully evolved.

    Number 4: the Choice Scarf

AKA Jericho's crutch item to beating me. (Just kidding Mike, you're better than I am, as is a whole lot of people.) The Choice Scarf boosts the speed of the wielder with the trade-off that the wielder be locked into using one move. That's a pretty fair trade off for things with Moxie, such as Krookodile (which is why the scarf is so high on MY list.) and more memorably regular Salamence.

    Number 3: the Choice Specs

What's better than mo' speed. MO' DAMMMAGE......sorry....not sorry......I'll try to behave next time.

    Number 2: the Life Orb

I've really fallen in love with the Life Orb. It is slightly less effective than the Choice Band and Choice Specs with regards to damage increase, but allows Pokemon to run utility moves and doesn't lock anybody into one move at a time. If you want to pick yourselves up several of these - don't worry about getting battle points, just start chaining Absol using your DexNav (in ORAS only.)

    Number 1: the Petaya Berry

This is the Special Attack version of the Liechi Berry. It holds a whole lot of sentimental value - turning Exeggutor into one of the most fearsome sweepers I've ever used due to 'Harvest' - and it was FAN-TASTIC. That sentiment carries it over the Life Orb for the number one spot.

    ---

The Honorable Mentions for this list are similar. The Black Sludge is an item that gradually heals poison type Pokemon and hurts other types. The Leftovers is an item that gradually heals any Pokemon.

  7. If we're looking at straight BST, yeah, Sunkern's nothing to write home about - but what it lacks in stats it has in.....well...-somewhat- has in potential. Sunflora makes the 'Kern slightly better than Unown in that the ceiling is higher for the little guy, it gets access to a full moveset, and often disregarded is that Sunkern itself has the ability to make some noise in Little Cup given the right conditions.

Choice Specs Sunkern in the sun is actually somewhat effective. Unown is relagated to seeing NO viability in competitive play at all.

  8. I'm going to rank all of the OU pokemon in order from favorite to least too lazy to explain for now.

    51. Jirachi

    52. Gliscor

    53. Talonflame

    54. Mega Lopunny.... slut

  9. Honorable mentions

Bisharp - Bisharp missed the list because it's a rather crutch 'mon for me in the tier and doesn't pan out for me as often as Talonflame does, albeit is more fun to use. Defiant is one of my favorite abilities out there and with one of my favorite methods of KOing 'mons out there (trapping) in it's toolbelt, Bisharp is a pretty great 'mon. It also complements Mega Gallade and Mega Gardevoir very well.

Conkeldurr - Conkeldurr makes opponents think twice about going for status conditions not named Sleep or Freeze, which is very handy in a game where Will-O-Wisp is prevalent. Conkeldurr is one of the most recognizable Guts users in the tier, and with access to Drain Punch, Knock Off, and Mach Punch, it's a very threatening Pokemon.

Starmie - Starmie is my favorite rapid spinner in the tier. It's ability to be run offensively makes it attractive and to me, it seems less vulnerable than Excadrill is considering I'm not very good at playing balanced.

Breloom - Breloom is stupid good, but often feels stupid cheap to play.

Terrakion - Terrakion's speed and beneficiary dual typing gives the OU swordsman rep points.

Keldeo - This guy's appearance is so much...."ugh" - but there's no denying how reliable Keldeo is.

  10. Back in 2007, Hilda Weiss was a somewhat different person. At 17, she was only beginning to come to terms with her restored faith - and carried a lot of worldly baggage - including the unhealthy habit of drinking too much. During this year, the rock band 'Hinder' released a song entitled 'Get Stoned' - which long story short - is about a relationship that hinges greatly on sexual pleasure being most effective in times of conflict, indicative by the chorus line "we could end up making love instead of misery" as well as "'cuz the sex is so much better when you're mad at me" in the following stanza.

Ame - I may not have a drinking problem anymore - and the circumstances are really just respectful disagreement that has a knack for becoming passionate on my end - but this 7 year reprise is for us. There really is something thrilling about getting 'all hot and bothered' by an opinion that completely opposes mine coming from my right hand woman. This is cruel way of saying you want some lovin', Ms.

  11. So, this list could effectively go to two places - here or the OTS - and I wasn't sure where to put it. Sorry mod frens-

    HI FOLKS.

Everyone who has dabbled in competitive knows about Smogon's OverUsed tier. It's a tier that some may have a particular strength in, meaning they are better than SEVERAL other trainers out there, and it's a tier where many of the "best" pokemon reside.

Personally, It's my least favorite tier for various reasons, but as a Pokemon trainer there are definitely things I have to respect about it. That is...my favorite Pokemon to use within the tier.

If your list is different, you should know what to do at this point! ROLL THAT FOOTAGE.

    10. Talonflame

Gale Wings - one of the cheapest abilities on the offensive side of the spectrum - is a major reason I like Talonflame. Talonflame is a great trump card to have in a match that would have been lost otherwise, and while that may raise up questions about "winning with skill" I um.......at not skilled at OU, so. Yeah.

    9. Latias

Latios -and- Latias could technically claim this number 9 spot together, but they both pretty much do the same thing for -my- intents and purposes - which is defog those pesky rocks out the way and sit in a very nice speed tier. Healing Wish helps white out a mistake every now and then, and it's the RED one. Latias wins.

    8. Rotom-Wash

Ole' Maytag. Rot-wash provides that nice slow-turn justice with a side of status annoyance and bulk. It's Water/Electric typing is kinda cool, and sometimes it's a fun 'mon to just mess around with...like throwing a Choice Specs on it. There's no rhyme or reason in doing that, but it sure is fun!

    7. Mega Gardevoir

Mega Gardevoir is my favorite fairy-type in the tier. It's unfortunate though, due to it's taking the Mega-Slot and needing a little team support to get going. All the same, if you have some other good mons on this list, All Hail the Queen.

    6. Shuckle

DUN-DUN-DUNN..... While technically not-really an OU 'mon - Shuckle has access to both Stealth Rock AND Sticky Web as of Gen VI, and can't get set up on due to Encore. It's a very good mon to use if you like trying to use outclassed Pokemon, due to the residual damage AND speed drops this mon can provide. Hilda likes outclassed Pokemon.

    5. Mega Charizard X/Y

Charizard gets the nod for the Top 5 over Shuckle due to ACTUALLY being an OU Pokemon. Two different purposes are given between the two different Mega-Evolutions, and both of them are sufficient in causing the opponent extreme pain - with the additional benefit of possibly confusing them as to which 'Zard you might be packing.

    4. Magnezone

Magnezone has a very, VERY unique job in the OU tier. It threatens Scizor and Ferrothorn better than anything else with an ability specializing in doing so. It also looks really cool and is my personal favorite Generation 4 evolution.

    3. Dragonite

Dragonite has held some pretty high regard throughout the years, until the advent of the fairy type and stealth rocks - but the Multiscale totin' OG brings to the table a new weapon - the ability to use the Weakness Policy better than any other Pokemon. With moves like Extreme Speed and Dragon Dance to boot, this guy still has a pretty decent standing amongst the most frequented 'mons.

    2. Serperior

Serperior is only in the OU club due to it's fantastic ability Contrary being paired with the powerful and normally trade-off based STAB Leaf Storm. Those two weapons allow Smugleaf to spam the move for a sweep under the right conditions, and with access to Hidden Power and Dragon Pulse, There are some pretty decent coverage options available to it.

    1. Mega Gallade

Mega Gallade is a very versatile wallbreaker who sits in a pretty great speed tier. The amount of coverage it gets is absolutely phenomenal, and and it's ability Inner Focus allows it to trump Serene Grace users and negates the Fake Out flinch from Mega Lopunny - which would make it one of the more underrated megas available. Mega Gallade's unique Psychic/Fighting typing allows it to bypass poison types that would normally cause a fighting type trouble.

  12. By Gen

    - Squirtle - I like Blastoise more than I like Venusaur, but it's usefulness in-game is not nearly as high as it could be competitively without help - and the other two 'mons being in OU while this guy is left behind in UU speaks for itself. It gets outbulked by one, and outsped by the other. The cool thing about Blastoise is it's a got a bit of both, but when you're a jack of all trades, you tend to splay your stats to where you're not fantastic in anything.

    - Chikorita - Like I said. Difficult 'mon to use in it's maiden voyage generation, is extremely passive, and doesn't have anything going for it in the metagame outside of dual screens and reasonable bulk. It's design is seemingly lazy compared to the other two Johto starters.

    - Treecko - Hoenn gave us a genuine toss-up between three really good Pokemon - and the Gen III remakes made decision time much more difficult. Blaziken - for how overpowered it is in any situation - can't be seriously considered here, and then you have to look at Sceptile and Swampert head-to-head in various situation. The Water/Ground typing makes Swampert win what genuinely is a coin-toss.

    - Piplup - The cutest and most well designed family of starters from Sinnoh just doesn't have much going for it outside of it's sleek appearance. It was very much the "contest" Pokemon from the anime without trying to be in terms of learn-set, and as someone who likes offense in all situations, Empoleon isn't the best Pokemon to deliver it.

    - Tepig - Tepig is probably as equally bad as Oshawott without TM and breeding help. Tepig's speed leaves it out to dry during story runs, which is frustrating.

    - Fenniken - Outward beauty is ever fleeting. Chesnaught is my clear favorite out of this group, and just like Blaziken it's hard to knock Greninja here.
