I really didn't like Tabitha, and Courtney was really odd. Not odd in a bad way, but really odd.
Honestly my favourite part of the episode was the sceptile. It was really cool.
Overall not one of my favourite episodes and I wish they'd done it with Team Aqua instead.
Remember: Both Kyogre and Groudon are on the poster. We may get a parallel version with Team Aqua next week....
Besides, I don't see why you're surprised Courtney was odd, her ORAS incarnation was crazy as fuck anyways...

IGN is Team Magma and:
HOLY FUCK THAT SCEPTILE. PRIMARY LOTUS THAT GOLBAT LOL.

"Aaaand she's pissed. Oh boy." Rafael's eye twitched once more as he looked at the very rapidly approaching girl he'd just stabbed, rapidly approaching and on fire too. That was actually pretty cool, if very dangerous... Seeing very few other options, he attempted to jump to the side, only for the fist to graze his arm and his jacket quickly caught on fire and Rafael quickly took it off and threw it to the side.
Something caught his eye as she went past him however, a sheathed weapon, most likely the thing he kept sensing the pull from. Though with his current amount of Lumen and his quite rapidly depleting stamina, he wasn't sure if he could pull anything with it like he'd done with the guy that'd turned himself into metal for some reason. Either way, he didn't want see what would get put on fire next.
"Well, that's another thing that's been ruined in the last few minutes. Hope you don't mind if I just call it quits. I'd rather nothing else get burnt or melted..." Rafael said while he grabbed his arm as the burns on it started acting up once again. They didn't stop him from doing much but now that he wasn't focused on getting the hell out of the way of whatever flaming abomination that came flying his way, they were a lot more annoying. Thank the lords above he didn't get hit by that last one...

When the combined Rocket attacks didn't do damage on Dragonite, something that resembled a white power shield was seen. Was this a joke on how Gen1 Lance's Dragonite knew Barrier, while it wasn't supposed to?
Lance's cheating coming in handy for once

Rafael scowled as he saw his ruined knife fall to ground, useless, but had to soon jump out of the way of the second coming of the bird of flame. "Tch, now I have to get another one of them." He muttered as he started walking towards Rame, having taken two more knives out before walking towards the white haired girl, flinching every few seconds because of the burn on his arm. After getting close enough, he felt it. That same feeling he did only a few minutes earlier. Rafael looked closely at his opponent, but couldn't exactly make out what it was from his current distance.
Deciding that waiting to find out wouldn't do him any good like this, Rafael started running forward. Seeing as long rage fighting didn't seem to be doing him any good. As soon as he got within 4 meters of her, he threw one of his knives at her leg before moving a bit to the side, ready to redirect the blade if she tried to burn it to a crisp, like she did the other knife.

Short was pretty fun though very disappointed that Silver didn't show up. Lance defeating him in the Mahogany Rocket base was the start of his character development and critical to his arc, so it's kinda baffling that they wouldn't include it when the episode is about what Lance was doing during the rocket base raid.
Silver's exclusion was weird, but I'm hoping he gets a whole episode dedicated to him, like Blue did.

> Finally make an episode that isn't gen 1
> Animation sucks
OF COURSE.
Might have been a different studio, the style is noticeably different.
Honestly, I absolutely love how people complain about "Pokemon not giving them a more mature anime, or at least one without Ash." Then when they DO give you just that, you guys complain about minor factors. Like, no wonder they rarely try stuff like this....
The animation here was just fine, it was wonky and inconsistent at certain parts, yes, but quite frankly, it didn't affect my opinion of it all that much. It made the rockets look drunk as fuck and quite dumb, which they are, so that's accurate enough. What the fuck were they drinking that led them to believe they could take on an E4 member...

"Isn't that Lance? Of the Elite Four?" but Lance is the Champion by this point in time...
Also the grunts when approaching Lance were walking extremely silly.
also even if they think he's E4 instead of Champion, why did a bunch of grunts think they have any chance against an "E4"
I really like when Dragonite was all "RAWR > : (" to Petrel for some reason
The Electrode are cute when they're bouncing around
Will, MIGHT have been a recent addition to the E4. IDK. Of the E4 still kinda makes sense, since he's the Champion of the E4 and was an E4 member himself. Either that or Team Rocket's behind the times.

So....Episode 4.
I feel as if the time limit works best on episodes like this and episode 2. It can feature a small storyline just fine and it did it well, instead of focusing on battling and leaving us unsatisfied.
The animation was wonky at certain parts, but more so funny wonky. The grunts looked hilarious and I feel like that's more of a positive here, since the rocket grunts are jobbers at their core. They're also trying REALLY hard to make Dragonite a badass because jesus christ, just look at him.

I also liked Gold's cameo here. It seems to be a slight change from the canon HGSS storyline, in which Gold is the distraction and has most of the rockets battle him, but it's implied he still fought Petrel. Speaking of Petrel. I AM SO HAPPY THEY SHOWED PETREL INSTEAD OF ARIANNA. He's the best Rocket Admin tbh.
I enjoyed it a lot more than Episode 3, and I hope they have more of these kinds of episodes. Sad they didn't show Silver here though. Hoping they still show him in one of the next 2 Johto episodes.

Basil - Sky Pillar
Scuttling through the winding streets of the enclave took the large scorpion a while. He wasn't as familiar with it as most of the other Pokemon that had taken residence there, being a recent arrival to the island. "Ugh...why does my house have to be so darn far away...." Basil groaned as he walked down the road before turning around, finally seeing the little area that the injured had come to rest after having returned from Johto. Looking around the area, the Drapion attempted to find the familiar shape of the little Spoink that had started living with him, though he was having little luck doing so. "Where could that critter be..." Basil muttered as he scoured the area with his one good eye.
-
Huh, neat. Just wondering what you're using to take screenshots of this playthrough.

"Damn. At least that's one of them out of the way for now...." Rafael sighed as he looked at the approaching flaming spheres. After what he just did, he wouldn't be able to run out of the way completely, especially since there were two of them coming at decent speeds. Accepting that he was not going to come out of this one unscathed, Rafael ran towards the right of one though it burnt a part of his brown jacket and cause a slight burn on his left arm. "Tsk. Note to self, do not piss her off..or anyone here, though the threat of being burned alive is definitely higher on my priority list at the moment." He muttered before looking at Rame as his right hand clenched around his left for a few seconds before throwing the knife in his hand towards the white haired girl. It wasn't as fast as it could've been if he hadn't gotten burned on his left arm though.
-
Rafael looked towards the approaching sphere of energy that was dipping down slowly, probably attempting to stop him from moving before following up. To dodge it, he simply jumped to the left before moving a bit further into that direction. "Well, whoever said good things come to those who wait must've been a very lucky person..." Rafael muttered as he looked at the person directly to his left only to notice that he felt the same distinct feeling he felt when near any other magnetic object, as well as the fact that there was a decently sized sphere made of flames hurtling towards his soon to be target. "Wouldn't exactly be fair if I double-teamed him even if this is a free for all...but I think I'll kill two birds with one stone." Rafael said before stretching his arm out and focusing on Jev, before lifting him and moving him out of the way of the fire ball and with a lot of effort sending him flying towards Rame before releasing his control over the boy. "Not doing that again any time soon...." The black haired teen said as he breathed out heavily and took a few steps back.

I was kind of disappointed with Ep 3, mostly because I expected to see more of the battles rather than just...talk, progression, monologue .. Gengar's entrance is the best part though.. this is why I wish these were longer than 3-5min
Eh, while it is the E4, we kinda already know what the battles are like. I was more so watching this for what Blue was feeling/thinking fighting the E4, because this is meant to be from his perspective. And I got what I wanted, a lot of it.
The voice acting could've been better, it was kinda chunky tbh. But that might be because they tried to quote the games a bit too much here.
-
Rafael took a few moments to walk where he was supposed to stand, thinking on what to do in the upcoming match. It wouldn't do to go in recklessly and get himself taken out right away. He'd bide his time, after all, good things come to those who wait. He spun the blades in his hand, as he looked around him. "Well then, whenever y'all ready, I guess." Rafael asked glancing at the other 5 participants of their little spar. There'd be no turning back after this, well, there wasn't any in the first place.
-
The lack of full battles was to be expected tbh, however, I absolutely loved what they did show. Alakazam destroying Lapras? Amazing. The intro with the Elite Four was absolutely glorious too. Lorelei and Bruno were kinda eh but Agatha and Lance's sections more than made up for it. Gengar's entrance was pretty well animated and Agatha herself was horrifying. Fun fact, the pose Lance struck before Dragonite and Blastoise went for close combat was his GSC pose.
In the end, I found it to be a pretty good showing of how Blue must have felt challenging the E4 and his anxiousness while waiting for Red. He was sitting there, bored, twirling his Poke Ball, knowing that eventually, Red would come. 9/10. It was wonderful.

Having spent most of the Plane trip here completely and utterly bored, Rafael looked at the agitated lady in a mixture of surprise and joy. At least they were getting straight into it, instead of spending a lot of time wasting away in some room before doing anything. Seems like they'd have to make a decent early showing, something he was quite capable of doing. Especially here, especially in a forest like this. "Let's see here....." He shifted around a bit, discreetly grabbing one of his knives from his pouch, he'd rather be able to get started quickly than have to fumble around for one of them.
Hearing the man that was meant to watch over them while they fought explain the rules more clearly. No lethal force would mean he'd have to be a lot more careful...a lot more. Then again, all the others here probably had their own crazy Lumen powers, so he doubted he'd be able to get anywhere close to killing them, which he didn't even have a reason to want. That loud one -might- be a bit much to deal with, but all people have their quirks, it seemed. "If no one else is gunna volunteer, I'd be up for it, I guess." The black haired teenager moved forward a bit to show himself to the man in charge, the lady called him Tempus or something.

I'll just put this down as a placeholder while I'm working on this....
Character Name: Rafael LoreanAge: 16Gender: MaleAppearance: Rather young guy of about 5'9'' with black hair that reaches down to his neck and dark brown eyes. He has fair skin and while not exactly muscular, he's not super skinny either. Rafael usually wears a white shirt with a brown fur jacket over it and tends to prefer long shorts, after all they are comfy and east to wear~with a pouch for his knives attached to it. He usually wears a pair of brown boots that his mother gave him.Backstory: Born in a small town in Aurora, he was brought up in a small, cosy household consisting of him, his older brother, his mother and his father. His father hunted for a living in the nearby forests and had tried to teach Rafael's brother on how to do it, though the elder sibling never really showed much interest in it, though Rafael was quite interested in it, more so because he loved being out in the forest and exploring than the hunting part.Intent on teaching Rafael it in hopes of having someone continue the family's history of being hunters. Having not shown much proficiency with other weapons such as Bows or Spears, the patriarch had ended teaching Rafael how to use throwing knives, the only weapon he was decent at using. One day, when Rafael was nearing 15, his father took him out into the forest, wanting to test him. He instructed him to hunt down a boar on his own before nightfall before leaving the teen alone. Rafael proceeded to spend the day trying to find one, being largely unsuccessful, however. Soon, the sun started falling and the teen had no choice but to start returning home, disappointed in having found nothing.Nearing the entrance of the forest, he was nothing short of surprised to spot a single boar out in the open, it wasn't exactly large like his father preferred, but it'd have to do. Having not been noticed by the swine, Rafael crept up on it from behind one of the many large pine trees before finally throwing one of his throwing knives at the boar. It barely missed it's leg and surprised the animal who let out a shriek before starting to run off. Rafael started sprinting as fast as he could, following the boar as it ran through the sprawling forest.Eventually, the boar realised that he wouldn't stop chasing after him and so performed a u-turn as Rafael threw his last knife at it. It ran right into him and sent him sprawling across the ground though not stabbing him with it's tusks before turning around and getting ready to charge at him again. Rafael scrambled towards one of the knifes stuck in the forest floor in an attempt to defend himself from the swine. As if by chance, the knife started floating towards his outstretched hand, and he grabbed it, deciding not to questioning how exactly it happened and threw it straight at the boar now charging towards him. It struck the animal right between it's eyes, killing it instantly as it fell down onto the ground.Wide eyed, Rafael looked at his hand in disbelief, seeing a small cut from the edge of the blade that had levitated into his hand, though it wasn't big. He knew of only one thing that this could be, a Lumen. His Lumen. Rafael turned around to one of the other knives around the area, trying to perform the same thing he did when the boar was charging towards him and sure enough, the knife floated towards him, though it fell to the ground in front of him when he stopped focusing on it. Picking it and a few other of the knives up and putting it in his pouch, Rafael walked over to the boar and started carrying it towards the exit of the forest where his father was waiting. By the time he arrived, the sun had already gone down. The man was quite surprised to see him, as he said he was about to go into the forest to look for him. He was even more surprised when Rafael told him he had awakened his Lumen, something that the man was sceptical about at first but when he saw Rafael being able to control the knife he'd thrown as an example, his father excitedly told him to practice it more and more. His mother and brother seemed to share the same sentiment.Over the next year, Rafael started messing with it more and more while hunting in the forest, though he used it from time to time in his house too. Eventually, he felt like he had hit a roadblock, as he didn't seem to be getting better at using it and that he was stagnating. Wanting to see how far he could actually go with it, Rafael decided to leave his small hometown, in pursuit of bettering himself as much as he could.Personality: Rafael is a lively guy to be around, though he prefers being in forests or caves and exploring them to being around people most of the time. The thought of exploring the unknown appeals to him, it's one of the reasons why he decided to venture out of his hometown and go learn more of what he could do with his Lumen. He loves being in control of things and while not completely obsessed with it, things that he can't see coming take him by surprise easily and he often finds himself able to do little in those kind of situations, though this is more so towards people rather than everything in his life. He likes cooking and shows an interest in forging more knives in the style of the ones he got from his father, though he didn't make too much progress on learning how to do it before he left his hometown.Lumen: Rafael's Lumen allows him to control metal objects to a certain extent, such as his throwing knives, though he usually only uses it on smaller objects due to his admittedly average at best Lumen levels and controlling it becomes harder the larger the object is. For example, he can use it quite easily on smaller objects such as knives or nails but he won't be moving large metal beams like they're sticks any time soon. He can't focus on multiple objects at the same time very easily, only being able to control 3 smaller objects at the same time while barely being able to focus on a single larger one, it's why he prefers to use knives for the most part. The object needs to be within radius of 15 feet of Rafael, for him to be able to control it using the minimal Lumen needed, any farther and he exerts a lot more of it and it becomes harder to control.Weapon of Choice: 4 throwing knives, of about 8-9 inches each and each has a single word engraved upon them. "Steadfast."Ez donezo.
Edit: Fixed a bit of a contradiction I found.

I really like this idea, though kinda reluctant to sign up, considering my uh not so decent track record with remaining active in rp's.
-
Oh crap. Almost forgot about this rp after not checking the RP section for a while(cuz it was kinda dead for a bit.)My bad. I'll get a post in today or tomorrow.
Says this.
Proceeds not to do anything for the next 2~ weeks.
Smooth job Azery.
I'll try to get something up soon enough, provided I don't completely forget about this again.

I don't think it's as much of 'Guns don't exist' instead of they're simply unnecessary when you have freaking Pokemon around. I mean, you've got fire breathing, electrocuting and Ice blasting creatures at your service here.
-
I'm also confused about them not knowing Giovanni was a Gym Leader. How exactly do you secretly run a gym? Don't you need some kind of official certification to be a Gym Leader?
Check the lore behind Gen 1. No one knows Giovanni was the Viridian City Gym Leader, it's strange yeah, but it's part of the 'plot twist' "The mysterious Viridian City Gym was being run by none other than the leader of Team Rocket himself." I'm sure Giovanni used some form of forged documents or something to become the Gym Leader, which is stated to have been a long time ago.
By the way, this is following FRLG canon. Origins followed RBY canon. In the former, Giovanni doesn't reform, while in the later, he does. It's 2 interpretations on it, I guess. They wouldn't even need guns Maelstrom, I mean, they've got freaking Pokemon....
I'd say it could've been Shock batons(I think that's what their called?)but then again, Giovanni is a ground type trainer...
