    I think there still ought to be a way for users to redeem themselves after making errors or getting large amounts of points -- some sort of community service that, when completed, takes off a point or two. While I understand that some people may abuse them, we shouldn't let a few rotten apples spoil the opportunity for those who genuinely want to improve or redeem themselves.

     

    My idea is that the warnings stay permanently as you've implemented, and don't drop off, but they can be removed through good service. Perhaps a task is completed for the benefit or betterment of the site and the user demonstrates they understand what rule was broken, why it's there, and what the rules surrounding that area are. In that way it's crystal clear they've learned what the rule is that they broke and have less chance of breaking it again. If someone's just here to be a troll, I doubt they'd want to do work just to be able to continue acting disruptively, so that might act as a deterrent.

     

    But, perhaps, there's a grace period where, if they break another rule, the completed service is nullified and the lost point is re-added alongside any other points if any new points are earned. I feel that would keep people from abusing the system by completing service and then breaking more rules. And regardless of the outcome, whether the user is banned or forgiven, the site runs smoother as a result of them having completed their task.

     

    That's the idea in a nutshell. I'll throw it out there just in case it's something that hasn't been considered. Again, please correct me if I've missed the point. I sometimes do. xD

     

    Edit: And @Sirius , I'm not sure that would work. People could just lie in an effort to get out of trouble, and as ZEL said, personal circumstances aren't an excuse for acting up. They could be considered, sure, but how would we know the liars from the people genuinely struggling?

    theres still a difference between racking up 10 points in a year (with the six month mute in between), and gaining ten warning points gradually throughout the span of five years, all because of minor incidents worth one or at most two warning points.

     

    id assume auth are able to review this on a case-by-case basis, and if you havent been acting straight unpleasant for about half your stay, I doubt they would do bans for the latter. as ame said, the amount of bans in reborn so far over so many years can probably be counted on ones hand- this new ruling will not make that much of a difference. its mostly a countermeasure to prevent people from cleverly avoiding a ban.

    pretty much what @Ikaru said. this topic can be helpful to the newer people that would like to know when e17 will be out, considering its explicitly stated here that it isnt yet, but its not meant as a message for the newbies. its moreso meant to change the mentality of the veteran members.

     

    @Zarc I see what you meant with 'first post gotta be introducing yourself', I really do. point of the matter is that not everyone is interested in becoming a solid member of this community. they may have just heard about the game, and want to try it for themselves. in the meantime, a lot of people are mentioning this strange new thing known as 'episode 17'. maybe they will look it up a bit. some topics arise, but most of them are either pretty old or dont give a definite answer. so even if the newbie did their research, they may still be stuck with a good amount of questions, the most notable being 'when is e17 going to be out?', considering they 1. want to play the game real badly, 2. want to play the latest version of the game and 3. arent 100% sure whether or not the so-called e17 is already out now or not.

     

    also, keep in mind that for people like you, who come on this forum every day, navigating is a breeze. you find everything you would ever want to find, because youre used to the layout, the structure and whatnot. people that just came on here may have never dealt with a forum like this before. they have literally not the slightest clue where to look for what, because theres so much info everywhere and its honestly really overwhelming. and please dont try to tell me that its easy to navigate this place, because even I had trouble to do so after the most recent site update, and that was after knowing this forum for a solid two years and a half. anyway, until they figure out how exactly this forum operates, they settle for the easiest way to find out whether e17 has been released yet- asking the veteran members.

     

    its not my intention to go around and steal the fun of you guys, 'specially since im barely around myself anymore, but I do agree with ame that potential new members might get pushed away by this. its not because theyre initially uninterested to join the community that they will continue to be.

     

    also again @Zarc double ping whoopsie doodles but id assume ikaru meant this post when he mentioned 'this post details etc etc', rather than literally this topic. or at least something that looks alike to it, cuz I have absolutely no clue where to find the best post that describes what stage e17 is at rn.

    So, who are you?: thats something I still wanna find out tbh. anyway, the names bibs. ive been here for a pretty long time now (for my standards), being nearly four years. in the last two years, ive been one of the most active members on here, though ive taken away a lot of that activity recently because im fucking up real life super hard currently as well. I used to study journalism but I (oh boi) fucked that up and now I have to go look for a new thing to study. im only ever found on the forum or on showdown, so dont bother looking for me on the reborn discord server.

    What can I talk to you about? im not gonna lie, I dont even know. I have a ridiculously bad track records when it comes to one-on-one conversations, and being able to keep me interested would be a huge feat. try and see what happens, I guess.
