i wrote 1100 words describing the final boss sequence of kirby: planet robobot.
enjoy.
(it uses discord text formatting so just, like, do the italicizing in your head or smth)
Spoilerok so im playing this game, right
it's, y'know the kirbo game, right
so i'm on the last level and i'm fighting the boss. and i'm all like "ok really you're the final boss" and also like "you can't be the final boss you don't even have _the music_" but i'm fighting the boss and i beat him and the person who made the boss was like "shit i gotta get **personal** with you but then another guy is like "gtfo person who made the boss" and she's all like "but" and he's all like "no you gotta go because imma gonna be the second boss" and everyone's like "oh ok we totally saw this coming since the boss (now known as "the first boss") was super underwhelming
so the second boss goes into evil monologue mode and is like "see this thing? this thing is the third boss and i gotta beat you because it says so" and everyone's like "wait but that means you're gonna di-" and then the game is like *boss music plays so you're fighting the second boss who shoots out replicas of the person who made the first boss and spins around and shit
then you beat the second boss and the second boss is like "mwah ha ha you'll never be able to beat me when i take control of the third boss!" and he puts on a helmet that lets him control the third boss but then the person who made the first boss is like "no ur a BICH" and knock the second boss right in the face and grabs the thing that controls the third boss
the person who made the first boss is then all like "i don't even _like_ you i just wanted your _stuff_ [third boss]" but then third boss starts freaking out and zaps the controller out from the person who made the first boss. the third boss then takes control of the second boss and is like "yo capitalism _rox_ and imma destroy all organic beings kbai" and then zoops off into space so then the person who made the first boss is all like "FUCK that wasn't supposed to happen i just wanted to punch the second boss in the face and then steal the third boss _is that too much to ask_ so then she's like "ok kirbo you gotta go to space. take this robosuit and go to space." (which makes the space core immensely jealous) kirbo is all like "poyo!" and hops into the robosuit. he walks toward the window and then the guy the first boss was based on shows up right outside this bigass window on his entire fuckin battleship (cuz he saw the third boss or something and was like "oh shit"??? idk but he's there now) and he just sorta nods to kirbo
kirbo now understands what he must do so with the robosuit and the person who made the first boss's blessing so he jumps out the window and then the robosuit just eats up the bigass battleship and i'm like "wait what the fuck are you doing you can't just _do_ that that has to be against the rules or something no really what the fuck" and so kirbo, now the entire fucking battleship piloted by the guy the first boss was based on, zoops off into space after the third boss while the person who made the first boss waves from the room that the first and second bosses were fought in.
kirbo flies into space as the battleship _and then the music starts playing_ (so im all like "ok this is it this is the real game") so you have this big spacefight where the third boss is shooting giant lasers and meteors at you and really just doing an all-around great impression of the Area 6 boss from star fox 64
but then after you beat the third boss, it's all like "oh you thought _that_ was a good impression of the Area 6 boss from star fox 64?? wait until you see THIS" and then the third boss fuses with room that the first and second bosses were fought in to become the fourth boss who is now basically literally the Area 6 boss from star fox 64 complete with giant sphere, tentacles, and lasers who you then continue to fight in space as the entire fuckin battleship brought in by the guy the first boss was based on (we still don't know where he went)- all of which is accompanied by considerably worse music than the third boss
eventually you finish blowing all the casing off the fourth boss it becomes the fifth boss who is then revealed to be the semifinal boss from the fifth stage of kirby super star who is also now doing its best impression of other various star fox entities such as monching your ship and flinging various objects that have no business being projectiles at you. other notable qualities include much better music and being a complete pushover.
after you blow up the fifth boss, a big flashy explody ending sequence starts. except it was all a lie: the fifth boss (who is now the sixth boss??) shoots a cannon straight through the battleship causing critical damage. the guy the first boss was based on (who is apparently both alive _and_ well _**and**_ aboard the ship that you not only pilot but also literally are) uses his sword to activate an emergency ejection system that ejects the front of the ship that _used_ to literally be you but is no longer because the entity known as "you" was just forcibly ejected from the ship and is now simply kirbo in a robosuit who is now rocketing toward the sixth boss (who is the fifth boss created by the casing blown off the fourth boss who, itself, is the fusion of the third boss and the room that the first and second boss were fought in). kirbo does some fancy robo tricks and basically drills a hole straight through the sixth boss who then violently explodes in a fashion that makes you go "okay, there's _no_ way he's getting back from that." but you're still sitting and waiting for the end credits _just_ in case.
but then you sit and watch the end credits and get hit with a "the end?" after they're over because FUCK you this ride is NEVER over -
My thoughts on the new Death Note manga oneshot (spoiler safe)
First of all I should mention how I've seen a lot of people say it's bad because "it doesn't have the epic back-and-forth cat-and-mouse game like the original". If you were expecting or hoping for something like that from a oneshot issue, you were being silly. I thought it was good for what it was, aside from two big missteps.
SpoilerThe first (and lesser) problem is that Near basically does nothing. That'd be fine, if he was just there for two or three pages where he decides he has no way of catching the new main character and leaves. But no, he and his officer buddies take up exactly 20 pages (I counted) which is almost a quarter of the whole issue. They could have either cut out most of that and focused on the main character more, or invested more into Near's involvement and had it lead up to something more than "I give up lol".
Even then I really liked the manga overall until the end. The ending is the REAL problem. It kinda spits in the face of the whole series: the Death Gods literally make up a new rule at the very last second and don't tell the main character about it, so he dies even though he did everything right. What's worse is that there's some bad design in the manga itself: it seems to show that the rule was changed WHILE the guy still had the Death Note and was still never told about it, which actually breaks an existing rule of the Death Gods being up front about their own rules. It's only after going back and re-reading the page carefully that you realized they covered their bases in saying Ryuk didn't change the rule until after the kid gave it up. Even still, it's dumb and only exists to reach the pre-decided endpoint of "the main character always dies". At least almost everyone but him has a happy ending I guess?
Other than those two things I really liked it. I would like to see another oneshot after this, because it leaves the world in an... interesting geopolitical state.

Y'all were right about Charlotte being ridiculously hard, I ended up over-leveling my pokemon so that they could just tank the hits and relying solely on faith that they'd obey enough of my orders to win, surprisingly my Whiscash was the OG for the battle and obeyed nearly every order and won it for me. Despite the Pokemon being 10+ levels higher than the cap, she still knocked out most of my Pokemon. That's insane. Even the one that I tried to cheese it with by taking it to level 100 (took forever, by the way.), although I basically just used that one as a stand-in to use healing items instead of attacking.
Like, I'm honestly baffled as to how anyone can beat her normally with the pokemon at the level cap. Did I do something wrong? Is it because I don't understand how EVs and IVs work? I literally couldn't knock out even three of her pokemon before my entire team was wiped out. I noticed that with the pokemon I've used since I got the level mods, on the EV/IV tab they all have like, 0-5 out of whatever number for each stat. I assume that's bad? I assume the level mod is what destroyed that? I don't know what it means though and I don't know how to make it go up without stat boosting items and I'm really worried I've ruined my ability to complete the game without having to cheese it like I was forced to with Charlotte.-
The TL;DR of EVs and IVs:
Pokemon get EVs when they knock out other Pokemon, so a Pokemon you've trained since the beginning of the game will have better stats than someone of the same level you just Rare Candied. So yes you screwed yourself by just cheating your Pokemon up to that level, but it's not "too late" as you can always EV train. If you really want to learn about that, there are places on the internet that explain it better than I can.
IVs are... not as important. You don't have to worry about them in Reborn. They're basically variations in base stats that every Pokemon has, with the minimum being 0 and the maximum being 31. For example your Absol has a perfect IV of 31, so her attack stat is higher than most other Absols before factoring in EVs (oooor she would, except you have a TERRIBLE nature on her. You should change that. Actually your Serperior's nature is just as bad.)
Both EVs and IVs come second to strategizing though. From what I can see in your two Pokemon you showed me, you're not using them at their full potential. With an ability capsule you can make Baby's ability Contrary, which inverses his stat changes, meaning you can spam Leaf Storm and have his special attack go UP instead of down. Absol also has a better ability in Super Luck. She learns a bunch of high-crit chance moves, meaning they're at 12.5% normally. If she has Super Luck though, it's a whopping 50% chance. And if she has Super Luck AND is holding a Scope Lens, they are GUARANTEED to crit. And as I said before, both of them have pretty much the worst natures possible.
EDIT: Oh wait, you've already been locked out of the city, you can't buy the EV training items anymore... LOL. You can still EV train but it'll take WAY longer without them.

I don't know how y'all are able to catch this stupid Null without it killing itself, I've tried everything and it always dies to takedown.
also this quest in general just hurt my heart because I love Luxray and sacrificing one was really hard to do; I feel really bad for Nadira too, poor woman... -
The idea of a Nuzlocke's first-pokemon rule is to get you to use stuff you wouldn't use normally, but so far it's all been stuff I've used before.
Also I've got 4 Zubats and counting.

If you were nuzlocking gen 7, would you count "Route 1" and "Route 1: Hau'oli Outskirts" as two separate areas? They're each a different section on the map, they each have their own title cards, and each a different description, but at the same time... they're both Route 1...

Finally done with my thesis on why the glass workstation is the worst part of the game. I hope Ame sees and at least considers some of suggestions to make it less bad.

can i please have good pokes against titania cause i keep losing against her
-
For what it's worth, I was able to beat Titania with only 3 Pokemon. They were Klefki, Delphox, and Diggersby.
You can see what the strategy was on my 6th gen monorun thread
EDIT: Should note that for items, I used Elemental Seed on Diggersby. The other two don't matter as much, but I'd give Light Clay to Klefki and Flame Plate/Charcoal to Delphox just to be safe.

Weird question: If I wanted to change my character name, where in the files would I find that variable?
-
So looking at the Sword and Shield gameplay video, I can't tell if the downvotes are for the graphics or how godawful the people in the video were playing. Dazzling Gleam on a Steelix. Really?
-
It's for something entirely different. They mention in the video that Pokemon Home (the Switch's version of Bank) won't transfer anything not in the Galar Pokedex. I'll leave you to interpret what that means for the series as a whole.
Also the fact that the graphics suck from recycling the 3DS engine doesn't help either.

Is there an easy mode for Reborn?... because I keep on dying.
-
Well for what it's worth, there's a Sandbox Mod. Lets you get any Pokemon you want, with whatever level/nature/IVs you want, has an infinite money generator and shops that sell every item in the game, basically it lets you do anything. Except raise the level cap as far as I'm aware, you'll have to at least deal with that.

Dang, it looks like in my absence the thread for my 6th gen monorun got deleted or something. I'm still gonna finish it tho
-
Don't wanna everyone's time making a thread about it since I'm not sure it's a bug, but this doesn't seem right... Spolers btw.
SpoilerThe girl in Agate City with the Pokedex quests. When I talk to her after the first time she says "oh you have 100 Pokemon, lemme copy them down real quick..." and when I talk to her again she just repeats it. Am I supposed to wait or something? Because I've waited quite a while already and nothing's changed.

Alolan Photo Club was a mistake...

Sega did a Chris Chan reference on their show. Now Hasbro did it too. Your move Nintendo.
-
Well, our property is pretty much entirely covered in fallen tree branches, but so far the house hasn't taken any real damage. Yet.
-
Always knew pewdiepie was an obnoxious twat. Glad to see it further confirmed, as well as being a racist POS. His antisematic thing looks even worse now.
Fame doesn't make one any less of a fool, I suppose.
-
You know what's worse than seeing the destruction caused by Harvey? Seeing that and knowing that very well may happen to where you live.
-
*Watches the news*
This is happening.
-
Well, I tried to get my Battle Tree streak back up, but lost again at 70. All because a Thunderbolt paralyzed me and I couldn't move twice in a row. That's a 0.625% chance of happening.
-
Funny that I'm going to a D&D game where one of the guys is obsessed with the Russian conspiracy theory, on the day when the #1 trending video on YouTube is about a CNN executive admitting they made it all up for ratings. This will be interesting.
-
Regarding the Red/Blue 3ds ports, is there a way to soft reset for the right nature when you transfer your Pokemon to the new games? If not I think I'm better off transferring the legendary birds from Leafgreen even though I won't get their hidden abilities.
-
Apparently, on Metacritic, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is listed as the 2nd best video game of all time, just behind Ocarina of Time... wut. I researched this on the basis that Breath of the Wild was received so positively, and that it shares the 2nd place spot as well.
Don't get me wrong, I do like the Pro Skater series, but... REALLY?! It's considered the 2nd best video game of all time? I like the game series, but I don't like it THAT much!

Tried a random online battle in preparation for the competition. Got Scalded 4 times. Got burned 4 times. 0.81% chance.

The english dub theme song of Sun/Moon is sooooo bad. Not that the english version didn't always suck or anything
