  1. Kael nodded his head, "I swear, those two are going to be in so much trouble with Lucas when we get back to base." he sighed heavily as Kaine disappeared into a black haze and returned to her dusk ball. The trainer turned to his friend, "We should probably go heal our pokemon up at the center; it wouldn't do for us to be caught by a church member with weakened pokemon." Kael spoke quietly, lightly tossing his dusk ball from glove to glove.

  2. Pressing herself to the ground, the luxray gathered her energy in her haunches before suddenly leaping high into the air, right over the fire blast as though she were a lion leaping through a flaming hoop. "Great Job Kaine, now finish him off with another thunder fang!" Kael called to his luxray. Kaine's fangs began to glow again as she bounded toward the houndoom at top speed. But just as she was about to attack, she stopped just inches from his neck and closed her mouth. Smirking playfully, she instead lightly lapped her tongue against Lobo's cheek, the electricity stored up in her mouth causing the houndoom's fur to stand on end in a comical manner. Kael chuckled in approval of his luxray, knowing that she didn't want to make Lobo completely faint. "Well, that's checkmate then." Kael said with a smile as Kaine rubbed her face up against Lobo's cheek with a purr rumbling in the depths of her throat, her tail coiling with his.

  3. "Dodge it!" Kael commanded, and Kaine rolled out of the way just in time for Lobo to go barreling past her. "get him with a Thunder Fang!" her trainer cheered, and Kaine's jaws started to glow and shoot sparks everywhere. Lunging forward, the luxray sank her electrified fangs into the scruff of Lobo's neck, shaking her head back and forth with a playful growl.

  4. Kaine narrowed her eyes and growled as the pulse hit her right in the face, digging her claws into the moist earth so that she could withstand the blow. "You alright, Kaine?" Kael called out to her. "Lux! Luxray!" the pokemon grunted back as she shook her head, refocusing her eyes on Lobo. "Good." Kael thought to himself for a moment. Hmmm, this weather is perfect for a thunder attack. But I don't want to hurt Lupus's Lobo too bad. He pondered as his luxray leapt back from the houndoom, giving herself some distance from her foe. "Kaine, use Charge Beam." Her trainer instructed and Kaine braced her paws as her body began to glow with energy. Suddenly, she parted her teeth and a powerful beam of electricity burst from her jaws, straight at Lobo.

  5. Kaine smirked and hopped down from the statue, sparks crackling in her mane as she stretched her limbs. Kael chuckled softly and sat his guitar aside before hopping down beside his partner. "Ladies first." the trainer said in a playfully snarky voice as Kaine circled Lobo with a grin, sizing up her opponent. The tip of her tail began to glow a bright white, and her pelt crackled with electricity. "Kaine, use Iron Tail!" Kael called out, and the luxray rushed forward before leaping into the air and lashing downward with her glowing tail, aiming for Lobo's flank.

  6. "Of all the idiots we could've been paired up with, we had to get stuck with the suicide bomber and Mr. Drug-your-own-teammates." Kael grunted to Lupus, offering his companion a cigarette from his package. "They're scented, so they don't leave that tobacco smell on your breath." The statue offered just enough shelter for both of the men to stay dry, and keep the tiny flames of their cigs from going out. Kael took a deep drag off of his before exhaling a thin tendril of smoke from between his teeth, "I personally don't have a problem with killing...Just, not like that. Not so reckless, and not with risk of hurting my own allies. Loyalty is everything, and if you can't trust your own team to not put you to sleep with spores or blast you into the Distortion world, then who can you trust?" Kael murmured with a sigh, lightly dropping the used cig to the ground before crushing it with his boot.

Kael pulled up his sleeve, exposing a pale arm covered with twisting black tribal designs occasionally marred by a scar. A black waterproof watch coiled around his wrist; it had been nearly an hour and a half since the Squads had split up. Biting back a curse, the trainer rolled his sleeve back down and lifted himself up onto the statue before sitting down between Dialga's leg-pillars. Kaine emerged from her ball in a shadowy haze as her master pulled his guitar out of his bag and began to strum a familiar slow, sad melody on the instrument. "If you want, we could have a friendly little battle between our pokemon whilst we wait--I doubt the other teams will be finishing anytime soon, and we're close enough to the pokecenter should we need to heal up." Kael suggested, continuing to pluck at the guitar strings as his Luxray let out a slow yawn.

    Name: DJ Metalhead

    Gender: Male

    Age: 19 in pony years

    Species: Unicorn

Metalhead is a young mint-green male stallion. He has a black and electric green mohawk mane and messy tail, and a black spiked beard. His hooves and legs were once stained with glowstick fluid, so he dyed the fur there black so his feet would stop glowing in the dark. He wears a pair of lime green sunglasses everywhere he goes, to cover his bright yellow batpony eyes. The stallion has a heavy, yet sturdy gait that is much like big macintosh's, and his body is slim and muscular.

Cutie Mark: Two black electric guitars in a crossed position.

Magic Color: Remember when Zecora summoned a vision of Nightmare Moon out of that light green dust in that one episode? It's the same color as the dust.

    Personality: Rocker. Laid-back. Party Animal.

    History:

Metalhead was born to a unicorn mother and a bat-pony father nineteen years ago. They lived on the edge of Ponyville in a modest cottage, despite being of upper-middle class. His father, Heavy Metal, served as a member of the Lunar Guard for Princess Luna, and his mother, Darkwave, was a Radio station host for Ponyville. His mother would take him and his older fraternal-twin Siblings, Nightcore and Techno Beats, to her studio each day to play in a room that sat right in front of her DJ booth, where she could keep an eye on them via the two way mirror. This helped inspire Metalhead's passion for music at a very young age; especially for rock music (which would later evolve into a love of metal.) On his fifth birthday, he eventually received his first guitar: an Epiph-pony. His sister Nightcore received a Tamahoof electric keyboard, and his brother Techno Beats received his own Drum set in the same year, both at the age of seven . After some begging from the three, Darkwave's co-workers eventually gave in and offered the adorable foals a few music lessons in between their shifts.

At six years old, Metalhead was old enough to begin attending school in Ponyville. He was nervous about his first day, so Darkwave told him to take his guitar with him to show the other children. Once at school, his teacher Miss Rosebud had him and the other children sit in a circle and introduce themselves to the class. When it was Metalhead's turn, Miss Rosebud insisted that the young colt play them a song on his guitar. As the colt made his way to the front of the class, his hoof caught on a fold in the rug and he fell onto his Epiph-pony, crushing his beloved guitar beneath his weight. The other kids laughed at him as he returned crestfallen to his desk, tears in his eyes as he beheld the broken pieces of mahogany in his hooves.

While it was rather simple for Heavy Metal to obtain a new guitar for his son, Metalhead refused to take it to school after that. Although he never did actually get to perform for the class, the incident shattered Metalhead's confidence in his guitar playing abilities, as well as turned him into a shy young stallion amongst his peers, to the point where most of his classmates forgot his name and just started referring to him as "Guitar Boy." During recess, he would play by himself off in the corner of the playground, away from the other fillies and colts. At Lunch, he would usually sit by himself--only occasionally joined by Nightcore and Techno Beats because they pitied their younger brother. He rarely participated in class, but his grades didn't suffer much for it; it was easy to focus on studies when you have no friends to distract you. His parents tried to help him become more confident about socializing, but it didn't work.

But that all changed the day Vinyl Scratch moved to Ponyville from the city. The loud and energetic young filly immediately grabbed the young colt's heart, and he would admire her quietly from afar at school--too shy to speak to her. Fortunately, Vinyl took notice of Metalhead and gradually befriended him over their shared love of music--albeit occasionally fighting over which genre was better. (You know that scene in the movie "Up" where the old guy is that quiet kid and his future-wife is all rambunctious and stuff? Their friendship was a lot like that until Metalhead worked up the courage to speak to Vinyl like a normal pony.) They were soon doing everything together; playing at recess, eating lunch, studying, talking about music, and other things that young ponies do. They remained best friends for many years.

Eventually, around the age of 12 in pony years, Metalhead built up enough courage to ask Vinyl to come over to his house for a playdate. And of course, one of the first things that Vinyl noticed about the colt's room was that he owned a guitar; three different kinds of them at this point. After much begging from the rambunctious filly, Metalhead finally gave in and played her "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" on his ahoofstic (accoustic) guitar. Vinyl was so impressed with his rendition of the simple nursery rhyme that she talked him into playing several more songs for her. When the songs were done and Metalhead's horn was sore from playing, he set his guitar aside. Vinyl told him that he was so good at playing guitar, that he should enter the school talent show with her and play for all of Ponyville. At first, Metalhead vehemently declined her offer; there was no way she was going to get him up on a stage where he could mess up in front of the entire town. But as the days went by, and Vinyl continued to either beg him to play with her at the Talent show or flat out refuse to speak to him after they argued, the young stallion finally gave in. After all, he hated it when he fought with his best friend.

Vinyl was super excited about the Talent show and their upcoming performance in it. Seeing as Metalhead was still apprehensive about bringing his guitar to school, Vinyl continued to schedule rehearsals for the two of them after school at each other's houses (they were going to ask Techno Beats and Nightcore to join them, but they were already doing a musical number for the show too.) They practiced constantly together, as Vinyl would sing and play her keyboard in harmony with his electric guitar. She would work her hooves raw on the keyboard and sing until she went mute. Metal would use his magic to pluck at the guitar strings until his horn was sore and out of power. They would practice performing in front of both of their families in order to help Metalhead slowly get over his anxiety of performing in front of other ponies.

At long last, the day of the Talent show had arrived. Metalhead's anxiety rose, however, when he glanced around the gathered students and saw that Vinyl was nowhere to be found. Apparently she had gotten sick from not getting enough sleep and practicing too hard; which meant that Metalhead would have to perform without her. Just as he was about to go up to Miss Rosebud and ask her to pull him out of the talent show, his sister Nightcore stopped him. She tried talk him out of quitting, telling him that he and Vinyl had worked too hard to not perform, and that Vinyl would want him to go on and play without her. At that, Metal felt his body bristle with confidence. They had worked too hard for him to chicken out now. He HAD to go out there and make Vinyl proud of him!

As the sun began to set, Metalhead took his place in the line leading up to the stage and watched the others perform their talents. They were all so skilled in their talents! It made the colt nervous to watch them. Fear made his hooves quake as he gazed out at the audience; a much bigger audience than what he and Vinyl had prepared for.

What if he tripped again? What if he broke a string? What if his magic fizzled out halfway through the song? What if he was so bad that they threw apples at him and laughed him off stage? What if...

But it was too late to run away; his siblings were just finishing up their number, and Metalhead was next in line. He tried to back up, but the young colt behind him shoved him forward. Nearly falling forward onto his guitar again, Metal managed to right his legs in time to stumble up the short stairway and up onto the stage. Gripping the neck of his guitar in his teeth, the young colt watched from backstage as the crowd applauded his siblings as they trotted off the platform. He flinched as he heard Miss Rosebud announce his name over the speaker; well, this was it. No turning back now.

Taking a deep breath and swallowing his nerves, Metalhead pushed his head through the curtains and cautiously walked out onto the platform, standing before the microphone. He tried to ignore the audience as he adjusted the mic. , and tried to calm his racing heartbeat as he plugged his guitar into the speaker. With a deep breath, Metalhead closed his eyes as he began to pump his magic through his horn, causing the guitar to levitate a few inches off of the stage floor. Lightly tapping his hoof to keep tempo, the young colt began to pluck the strings with his magic. After a few notes, Metalhead cautiously opened one eye to observe the audience's reaction. He was shocked to see Vinyl in the front row, smiling up at him. "Keep Going" she mouthed, and Metal's anxiety slowly vanished as he stared into her bright, hot pink eyes. Nearby her he saw both her parents and his, and It was then that he had an epiphany. The audience was composed of smiling ponies who wanted to see him do well, not the sadistic grins of those who wished him to fail. If he made a mistake, they would still support him, not jeer him offstage. These ponies were the ponies he saw everyday; his commuity, his 'friends'.

Smiling at the realization, he began to play the notes more enthusiastically, even going so far as to sway his head and hips to the rhythm along with the members of the audience. He poured out his soul into the piece, the emotions so vividly produced by his guitar that they could be felt in the air. It was a masterpiece, for a colt his age. As the song drew to an end, the audience cheered and applauded Metalhead's wonderful performance. It was here, bowing before the crowd with a big grin, that Metalhead knew then where he was meant to be.

That's when his cutie mark appeared on his flank.

As the years went on, so did the music. Nightcore and Techno Beats went off and became famous music artists. While Nightcore would go on to play many gigs all across Equestria, Techno Beats eventually settled down with his very special somepony, Bass Drop, and retire early to raise their son, Dubstep.

As for Metalhead, the young, shy colt grew into a confident, laid-back stallion. He and Vinyl eventually grew apart as friends, but it was alright; he would make plenty of new friends throughout his life. He went to DJ school to become a radio DJ like his mother. But it was during this time that he realized that he couldn't just play music for a crowd that he couldn't see. He missed having an audience that he could watch have fun and dance to his music. So instead of becoming a Radio DJ, he bought out a medium-sized warehouse nearby the Everfree Forest and transformed it into a danceclub called "Dance Syndrome". He both owns "Dance Syndrome" and serves as DJ there, perfectly happy to spin tracks, sell glowsticks and carbonated Cider, and ensure that all of his customers leave with tired hooves and big smiles on their faces.

((Thoughts on my new pony character?))

  8. ((Lol, no. Vampires, the way I play them, do not drink blood because they lack aether or whatever. I play my vampires loosely off of the lore of Vampire: the Masquerade, where they are in fact undead and drink blood in order to pacify their inner "beast", so that they don't lose control of themselves and go into a blood-deprived frenzy. If you want, you could look the game up; it's really fun and interesting.))

//I believe each C Ward cell is only carved with the symbols required to block the powers that the humans know that you have. So if they are unaware you can chat telepathically to others, they won't have those specific runes carved into your cell before they bring you in. And personally, I'd like to keep my telepathy a secret from them, if you'd mind.// Skull replied caustically, struggling to get more of his body free from the straitjacket. Hearing the man's thoughts on vampires, he lightly rolled his eyes. Clearly the man didn't know half as much about vampires as he thought he did. But it made sense to Skull; after all, how on earth would an elf be able to know what it was like having that bloodthirsty creature living inside their skin, driving its host insane with hunger?

Skull didn't bother to correct Rowen; the guy didn't need to know, and the Setite didn't feel like explaining. //Yes, I know. You can tell me whatever you'd like about yourself. I'm interested in how you managed to get caught by these thugs.//

  9. ((I kinda figured that the blonde nurse was one of your characters, so I left her alone.))

Skull smirked and rolled his eyes; it was the same reaction that every newbie gave. //My name is Skull, and you are sitting in Ward C of the Laurel Cliff Asylum--the ward for the worst of the worst, the damned and demonic, the bloodthirsty and callous. Welcome to purgatory, childe.// the vampire telepathically sneered from the dark corner of his cell. He lightly tapped his long, black talon against the carved markings in the wall. //Runes. Hundreds of them. They sap your powers so that you aren't a threat to the mortal orderlies who patrol these halls. If it weren't for these Ra-damned carvings, I would've summoned up my undead familiars and painted these halls with both human and non-human blood ages ago.// Skull growled into the half-elf's mind, his eyes a glow with bloodlust. Slowly shaking his head back and forth with a sigh, the vampire leaned his head against the wall of runes and idly began scratching at the markings again. //So what's your story, kid?//

  10. Skull awoke with a jostle from his nap as he heard voices echoing down the hall; voices that belonged to the doctors, he realized with a low growl rumbling in his throat. He watched in silence as a newcomer was dragged down the hall to a nearby cell and tossed in. The two orderlies then locked the door shut and left, leaving just the two other doctors that were talking to one another before in the darkness of the C ward. The vampire casually scanned the mind of this newcomer; apparently his name was Rowen, and he was a...sangromancer? This greatly interested Skull, his inner beast already stirring at the thought of the possibilities...so long as the humans hadn't done anything to restrict his powers just yet. The vampire's heart sank; they had probably carved the half-elf's room with runes to nullify his blood magic already.

  11. The jade haired trainer lightly pushed the houndoom away before rising to his feet. "I'm fine." he said in a cold grunt between his teeth. It was obvious that the actions of his team members enraged him greatly, and he was trying hard not to show it.

Or at least be passive-aggressive about it.

Kael was about to pass by Color when he heard what she had asked. A low growl rumbled in his throat,"Well, Josh thought it was a good idea to knock out his teammates with a sleep powder before taking on the conclave mother, and the other idiot thought it was a good idea to blow the whole damn place up and attract all sorts of attention. I'm getting the hell out of dodge before any cult reinforcements show up." he hissed bitterly, venom dripping from his pale lips as he carried his guitar case over one arm and continued heading towards the poke center to heal up his battered and bruised luxray.

After letting Kaine recharge at the pokecenter, Kael sullenly returned to the large statue that they had met up at before and leaned against the granite figure, pulling a cigarette from his coat pocket and lighting it aflame with a small lighter. He took a deep drag off of the cancer stick and let the smoke curl out of his nostrils for a bit, before exhaling the blackness out of his lungs and into the cold air. "Damn arrogant punks." he muttered under his breath as he subtley put out the burning end of his cig on the Dawn statue behind him. He hoped that Lupus and Lobo showed up soon; their company might cheer him up, if not give him an ear to let off some steam about their reckless teammates.

  12. Think I'll have Kael head over to the pokecenter and heal up Kaine (they still have pokecenters in this universe, right?)

I was going to have Kael go give Aeon a piece of his mind, but frankly, I don't want Lunar to powerplay my character again, so I think I'll just keep them apart for now.

Josh was also going to be a target, but...I can hardly understand what's going on in his owner's posts half the time, so forget that.

Maybe Kael's just the kind who holds his anger inside...

  13. I'm not much a fan of Aeon's sueness. :/ I'm losing interest in playing Kael, unfortunately. This always happens whenever I play a character other than my main oc Skull (who would never fit into this plot, being a vampire and stuff.)

I doubt that I'm going to post for awhile until my inspiration comes back and mutilates my writer's block.

  14. After many confusing dreams about bloody cupcakes, black leather whips, a polar bear, and one hazy recount of his traumatic motorbike wreck, Kael found himself waking up in a pool of cultist blood that seeped into the streets from the debris of the obliterated building. He hauled himself up onto his feet, his hand moving instinctively to his belt--only to find that his dusk ball was empty. "Kaine!" his eyes went wide as he immediately rushed back into the wreckage, searching frantically for his beloved luxray. He scoured the area, searching high and low as he called out desperately for his companion. Just as he was about to give up hope and burst into tears, he heard some rustling nearby in a pile of fallen debris. Kaine struggled to her paws, trying to claw her way out from beneath the heavy pile of concrete and broken bodies. "Oh thank the legends," Kael breathed a sigh of relief as he climbed over a water pipe and attempted to lift the heavy slab of rock up off of Kaine. He managed to lift the mess of rocks just high enough that Kaine was able to crawl her way out from beneath the wreckage. Grunting from the strain, Kael let go of the concrete slab once he saw Kaine was alright and wrapped his arms tightly around his Luxray. "Are you alright Kaine?" he worriedly asked, and Kaine replied with a simple "Lux Lux" and a smile, as if seeing Kael was alright was all she could ever want. Rearing back on her hindquarters, Kaine wrapped her paws around her trainer in an attempt to mimic a hug. They stayed embraced like that for a few moments before Kael lifted his dusk ball from his belt and lightly tapped the button against Kaine's back, causing her to vanish into the pokeball in a shadowy haze.
