About Me
Well, hello there. You can call me Kiozo, or Kio for short.
So, I'm one of those relatively old members (age and membership) but some of you might not realize it. I used to do nothing but lurk for a long time, so people didn't really see or hear much of me unless I wanted them to. I was also part of another place, but the community dispersed. I started actively participating around Christmas of 2011, and was promoted to Mod in March 2012. My computer died out in March 2013 (Happy birthday me!) and I got a new one for Christmas in 2013 as well, so that's another section of time people may have joined and not knew of me.
That aside, I began my battling time in 2008, mostly attending Shoddy servers. I went to Smogon's server after posting a message in all caps and getting banned for it from the main Shoddy server (I even apologized for it pre-ban) and there I started to get better. I was still using things "non-meta", but I was happy with my Pokémon and actually making good choices. From there; I developed an OU team that was actually forcing forfeits more than gaining wins, and I started to lose points from ladder forfeits rather than gain.* I was happy with my teams flow, and how well it worked even against potential counters that I learned every damage calculation I needed to for the time. Since I was losing points, I decided to try other tiers, and I went on the CAP server they had, which was much easier to be on due to the amount of people not straining the server or internet. There I was at the top of the UU and NU ladders, while doing well on the CAP ladder as well. NU was my specialty, and was constantly fought between by 8 of us, myself included. I miss you guys. After a while, Mashew had linked me PO and told me it was a much nicer looking, better flowing program. I put it off for a week or two and joined PO in June of 2010. I joined up on Reborn and another community, but spent most of my time there where I made some friends I kept to this day (HI Swimming!). There I had remade my NU team from Shoddy, and began to run tournaments with it in OU, constantly placing at the top of the competition. I quickly gained attention, and people seemed to like me and were kind in return so I felt at home really quickly. My favorite achievements were placing at the top of a tournament competition, where you were rewarded points for winning a tournament based on how many people entered, and then competing in a forum war were it was 5v5 and you played against every opposing member, best two out of three. I went 5-0 with a 10-2 record, and was the only member to do so. After the community went down, I came to Reborn, where it was a much different pace. I started to get out of the habit of battling, with not a lot of things providing interest, battle wise, and then just seemed to fall out of the loop. I was fine in gen five, but I didn't do it a lot. Now, with gen six here, I'm going to start coming back to life and get back to par. My par, that is.
Outside of a long winded battle history, I also like to play LoL! Mashew had shown me that too, and I've been playing since January 2012. I'm currently unranked, and am going to invest in a better internet setup (and a gaming pc perhaps although that's not necessary). If you want my name, ask, just because I don't like having random invites happening.
I also play Guild Wars 2, and it's the same situation. Ask, and you'll find an answer! I've got a small guild with primarily Reborn people, although it's activity is a variable. We should have more activity guys! We can do fun things!
I also enjoy playing Darts, Horseshoes, and Bowling, They're kind of that "secondary" sport, where you don't have to kill yourself to play them, which is good because I'm relatively out of shape! I enjoy them a lot though, and it's where I credit a lot of my analytical abilities! I also play MTG, because why-not revisit my youth. It's where Pokémon came from! For music I'm not opposed to most genres, but I stay with either a smooth but heavy electronic feeling or something that you really can sing to. I'm trying to get back into the use of Photoshop, so I might open myself up to things people want me to do. I'm also an avid Survivor fan, having not missed an episode since I started watching in Survivor: China (over ten season ago).
So, that's about all I think could possibly interest people. If you want to know more or just want to chat, hit me up! I'm always up for a good conversation, so if you have time, and I do too, we can have a good time :3.
*Right forgot to address this. What I meant by lose points when they forfeit; there was a bug in the coding to the original shoddy platform that went along with the general point distribution curve. When an overflow of forfeits happened, you lost points instead. I got a 5/6 (counted) ratio of forfeit/completion. I reported this to the people in charge and although they confirmed it was a bug, no one actually wanted to do anything. So that's why I stopped.
