Ahoy mates, wenches, and ye whatnot in-between! We've got one o' those double-sided news posts comin' into port now, and given t' subject matter along with the fact that it's been some degree o' time since I last did one o' me silly dialect news posts, you get this in full TechnipirateSpeak.First up in the galley tonight we've got t' risin' incidents o' piracy resurgin' around this here community. And while as a cap'n speakin' like this and all it'd do me no greater pleaaye than t' tip me cap t' ye and say let ye have yer merry treassurin', a line's got t' be drawn in the proverbial sand here.So here we are: Henceforth, publicly askin' for or distributin' illegal files such as ROMs or cracked RPG Maker will be a warnable offense in the forum. Now thar's a couple o' caveats t' this, so listen up, ye bilge rats. First up, linkin' the patches for ROMs be still ago, so if you want t' provide a link t' a fangame that uses a ROM, just link t' patch. Players can find the ROM elsewhere. Secondly, you'll note the key phrase o' 'publicly' thar. We won't be monitorin' what goes on behind closed PMs, so keep your shady business out o' the daylight and you'll be just grand. With that ship sailed, let's move onto somethin' a bit more exhiliratin'. the staff crew recently got t' plannin', and after a hostile ta-- er, after some aggressive negotiatin', the old' hidden Nightclub room's been commandeered with new purpose. T' Nightclub channel on the server be now a voice-only channel for those most esteemed Ace members. Remember, like with the forum Nightclub itself, most rules will be more lax thar (for when you need t' talk about that booty, you know-- pirate booty, I mean), except for respect which be still prime. So keep your trousers tight or you'll be walkin' the plank on out outta the club. That's about it for this week, so feel free t' check out the new room-- those o' ye o' high enough calibur for it anyhow-- stay clean, and keep sailin' steady.

...then you must enter the Dragon's Den.

The theme of the lava-ridden draconic chambers has been something seen in canon Pokemon games several times already, but never has it had any pull on the flow of battle before. Highlighting and firelighting the danger of fighting a beast on its home turf and in the heat of battle, the Dragon's Den Field Effect skyrockets the offensive capabilities of its premier type, while covering their historic weakness in its ambient presence.
"If you wish to slay a dragon..."
- Dragon type attacks increase in base power x2
- Fire type attacks increase in base power x1.5
- Water and Ice type attacks decrease in base power x0.5
- Activates Marvel Scale
- Multiscale additionally annulls user's Dragon type's weaknesses at all times
- These moves increase in base power x2 and apply additional Fire type damage:
- Smack Down
- Thousand Arrow
- These moves increase in base power x2:
- Pay Day
- Dragon Ascent
- These moves increase in base power x1.5:
- Lava Plume
- Magma Storm
- Mega Kick
- Magma Storm deals 1/6 Max HP damage per turn (from 1/8)
- Pokemon with the following abilities have their defenses boosted on switch-in:
- Magma Armor
- Magma Armor additionally protects from Fire Attacks
- The stat-changing effect of these moves is amplified:
- Noble Roar
- Dragon Dance
- These moves transform this field into a Cave after two uses:
- Surf
- Muddy Water
- These moves transform this field into a Cave Field:
- Glaciate
- Nature Power becomes Dragon Pulse
- Camouflage changes the user's type to Dragon
- Secret Power may burn
In the end, it's a simple question: can you take the heat?
By the way, most people can probably assume where this Field is likely to show up, but interestingly enough, it'll actually be used in two upcoming gyms. Now, why would that be?
With prior updates just about done, it's finally time for me to get on with the new content development. Here's hoping I get to the next field soon. Until then, stay cool-- you'll need to.

Or one question, really. I asked it in the Amplifield Rock topic...
After all, come E16, one line of Pokemon will be able to use it to reverse a type match-up completely. Can you guess which?
And the answer-- several people guessed it-- is the Malamar line! Congratulations, here's your prize: It's the first field announcement for E16!

I had all but confirmed the Inverse Field previously after a discussion on the server/forum, but here we are. It is the simplest field in the game, but the simplicity packs a fair amount of depth.
On top of that, likely few people anticipated the Inverse Field to be one of the handful of fields that can be generated with a certain move, but here we are. I'm looking forward to seeing if, where and how players use this field in game!
Here are the relatively few details for this field:
- "!trats elttaB"
- The type chart is inverted
- Created for 3 turns by Topsy Turvy unless the user is holding an Everstone
- Nature Power becomes Trick Room
- Camouflage changes the user's type to Normal
- Secret Power may inflict confusion
To clarify a few things in advance, Noel will not be getting this field for his gym battle (post-game might be fun...), nor will it be used in the main story. It's strictly for post-game+player use+the sake of having inverse battles.
Sidequests might be fair game though... In fact since Fields can affect the overworld in certain places now, I have a pretty fun idea for a puzzle that depends on switching in and out of Inverse Field. ^~^
Until next time!

I lied. The topic title was just to trick you into clicking here. And you fell for it. Sorry, not sorry.
I wanted to stop and take a moment in between all the well-wishes and resolutions of the holiday, and thank everyone.
This community has been around in some form for close to ten years now. Holy wowsy does that sound like a lot. It doesn't feel like it though.
For the first three years or so, this site was nothing but a place for some of friends of mine to connect, swap friend codes on D/P and knock each other's in-game teams into the ground. I had no intentions of making a league or game, of this becoming a popular place, or of it even sticking around when B/W came out.
And yet here we are.
To say my expectations were exceeded would be an understatement. My expectations have been smashed into the tiniest particles known to mankind and scattered to the four winds.
I am surprised and amazed every day coming on here, or Tumblr, or Youtube, or Arceus knows where, and seeing so many people excited about the game, excited to be here, maybe just excited to talk to friends they've made here-- I don't know. It's breathtaking. A lot of the time the impact of it misses me. Then I go and try to write a topic like this and I start crying because I'm so glad that this could happen.. Stop it, Ame, you're at work, this is unprofessional... Dammit. >~<
I said before this place started as a community of just my friends. In a way, it still is. Maybe we've only spoken briefly in passing on the server, PM, what have you, or maybe you only know me as a character in a game, or the avatar that posts updates far too infrequently, or maybe you're staring at this post in mild skepticism because how could I possibly be implying that you're my friend... Even so, I would like to think that's the case. Maybe closely, casually, indirectly, you're still here to support me in some sense, and even though I can't possibly respond to and engage everyone all the time I would still like to support you.So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being here, and being a part of all of this. It means the world to me.
Here's to another year.

In that case you'd want your first pokemon to hold it, yeah. Because Grassy Terrain is what generates the field, whereas Sludge Wave just transforms it. That's different from the pledges where the second attack is what generates it.
-
It does not apply to Tailwind actually, since I consider that more of a weather thing than a terrain thing.
(and also would actually be OP)
-
Will we get this by mining, shopping in the Dept Store, or getting it from a quest (probably meaning only one)?
No mining, but there'll be at least a couple by the end.
Huh, I wonder if this means the last couple of item things I coded before leaving will be in E16.
If you're talking about what you think you are, they will, but they don't need to be announced since they're in canon games.
If you don't mind me asking, if I were to use Pledge attacks to create Rainbows, which Pokémon would need to hold the item?
You'll want it on the Pokemon that creates the field, so the 2nd attacker
Everybody here has gone trick room
I wonder if i can abuse amplifield for wonder room
It does apply for Wonder and Magic Room too if you can find a way to use 'em!
...wait
If this amplifies trick room, would a field that also amplifies TR double this?
The effect does not stack, no.

How about it, then?
yeah yeah i'm slow
Though I've already dropped more than enough hints about it by now, I'll formally introduce the Amplifield Rock!

The Amplifield Rock joins its companions such as Damp Rock et al. as a somewhat rarer variant in the line of prolonging stones. But it would not be rare if it did not have some value.
Originally contrived as an item to enable Field Effect-based teams to play on their home turf a little longer, the Amplifield Rock extends the effect of all generated Field Effects by several turns, so you can get a little more Rainbow, Mist, or what have you in your life. Note that this applies specifically to generated field effects, as in when you create an effect, and not when you're temporarily transforming an existing effect such as Dark Crystal Cavern to Crystal Cavern.
But wait, there's more!
Not to be overlooked by those uninterested in running Field-specific teams, the Amplifield Rock has a couple other neat uses. You'll note that the description does not specify Field Effects, but rather area-altering moves. That does include Field Effects, but also things such as Gravity and-- dare I say it? Trick Room.
Maybe being slow won't be so bad after all...
Used correctly, this new item makes options that once might have been written off as gimmicks into something practical. It may be for themed teams or just those looking to exploit an opponent's strengths as much as their weaknesses... After all, come E16, one line of Pokemon will be able to use it to reverse a type match-up completely. Can you guess which?

Aren't clickbait listicles great? Especially when the title isn't even accurate. This title isn't accurate, because we do want you to know about them. That's why I'm telling you. But is that going to stop me from having fun with the title? Absolutely not.
1- The Pokemon Fan Club's content theme is getting changed up, and instead of being a Pokemon catch-all it's now specifically for canon material in the series
2- The Fan Game Expose's got a minor make over to it. Community games that are just starting out or in the concept phases now have their own subforum in Developing Games. The main FGE section is now for games, community or otherwise (so that includes hacks and other fangames!) that have at least one release behind them. Topics will be sorted shortly! We hope that this will encourage users to scan that section for things to play, just a bit more.
3- PotD has faded in and out recently and its fate has been the subject of some discussion. As of now, thanks to some strong community input, the function is officially dead and has been removed from the site shop!
4- A new tier has been added to the server! Battle Factory Doubles are now open for business!
5- The forum has a new BB Code tag for all the music lovers out there. Check this, to post a Soundcloud, uh, cloud? directly in the forum, like so:
[soundcloud]
That's all for now! But keep an eye peeled for next weeks article, "7 Dirty Things You Won't BELIEVE Staff Do On The Server!" You won't want to miss it!-

2: So, in the light of this ruling that shitposts aren't against the rules, can I at least get a public yae or nay on my newfound warning point being legitimate? I don't care if it can't be removed, it's gone in like 10 days, I just want it acknowledged whether or not I deserved it.
This is a case that falls into the posts-without-substance category, since the topic was just two words (granted, repeatedly, but that's arguably worse).
So as for removing the section from the Recent Topics part on the index, that was apparently a dirty lie because that feature looks to be broken and is therefore frozen in time forever.
Interesting.
But shhhh it'll be okay no need to worry...

The excessively ordinary title is due to the fact that I really want to make the topic called "Heard you were talkin' shit" but the annoying little voice in the back of my head won't let me. That said, let's talk shit. Namely, shitposts.
Because "shitposting," as you punk kids call it these days, seems to be the new word in cool and has been making a ruckus-- or rather, has been making shit hit the fan, I wanted to take a moment to talk about our stance as a community on this.
Shitposting has been around for approximately ever and is a fairly normal part of many forums. It's pretty much why the forum Wasteland exists: so that it has a place to go. The recent backlash against "excessive shitposting" seems to have come into effect mainly with that happy new term, but the content of such posts really hasn't changed at all. As such, I want it to be known that shitposting in and of itself isn't against the community rules... not that I'm encouraging it. And, members, if you don't want to see that stuff it's as easy as not reading it.
Nonetheless, we are making a few minor changes to account for recent trends: The Wasteland as a whole no longer gives $R or increases post count, and Wasteland topics will no longer show up in the Recent Topics hook on the index. In short, we're trying to leave the Wasteland as a place where y'all can be silly without any real consequences (positive or negative).
That said, it does not mean that that forum is immune to the rules. It's still part of the community, so make sure your posts aren't problematic. In particular, observe the forum rule mandating that each post should contribute something. If your topic is just an image, then it can go in the Funny Images thread. Or if it's just a few words, maybe it doesn't need to be posted.
Anyway, have fun!
But not too much fun.
Here to make sure that you absolutely and under no circumstance have too much fun, we've got a couple promotions coming around to thefun policeserver moderating team. First up, LidaRose is taking on a mod position after having been around for lord knows how long. Secondly, Jericho climbs up the ladder and picks up the b& hammer. Thanks to both of them for (in one case, continuing) helping out around here!-

"History has a habit of letting little girls wander past the forest's edge, only to be swallowed up by any number of enchantments beyond.
She awakens in a tower,
Stone,
Cold,
Alone.
A dragon guards her, its fangs bared to the world, brimstone breath faithfully reserved for whatever metal-clad ignoramus thinks himself so mighty that even fire may not char his miserable flesh.
But, there is one who can slay the beast..."
Another new wallpaper is up! The image may be familiar, but fans of the leader with a temper matched in sharpness only by her blade won't want to miss out here. As always, all common resolutions for PC and mobile are included!
Titania's wallpaper/banner art come courtesy of Diana (same cool gal who did Cain's).
Next up, details on a new hold item debuting in E16.

We've got two new things today, the first being a new command for the showdown server:
You can now use the command /addautojoinchannel (or /adj) to add whatever channel you're currently in to a list of channels that you, as the name might suggest, instantly join whenever you sign on.
See also: /removeautojoinchannel or /radj to no longer join the channel you use it in, and /listautojoinchannel or /ladj to see a list of all of your currently subscribed-to channels.
Our hope is that this will help back channels be more reliably populated like in the good ol' days, so hit it up and get cozy in each other's rooms.
Secondly, a new mod is joining the team, that being the music man we all know and love-- and isn't it about time??-- !
As for that, I think there's only one thing to say, but I'll let Ikaru handle it.

O citizenry of Reborn, ye need live in fear no longer.
Following the community's decision to remove the /kick command for the sake of consistency with our rules, we also turned our attention to the selection of Site Shop Items that enabled users to futz with others profiles by changing their name, avatar, or collectively their entire profile into to make them into oh, I don't know, Grimace from McDonalds.
...But I mean, who would do such a thing, really? Shame...
In any case, for the sake of remaining consistency with our own rule, which outright says "Fun at the expense of others isn't fun", we've decided that those items probably don't need to stick around. They can be especially annoying for newer users who become unfortunate victims of them too, and don't necessarily have the $R to change their profile back.
The entire 'Mess with Others!' section has since been removed from the Site Shop, including the Steal $R item. While it might be a little less fun for some of the rich users, the change is worth accommodating everyone.
Previously purchased/held items from that section may or may not work. Apologies for the inconvenience, Additionally, other item prices and posting rates have been tweaked to account for the flux in the economy.

Crtical hits, oh my god.ha ha hahahahahahahaAnyway, I would change the battle system. Obviously this won't happen in reborn, but I really detest turn-based battle systems. In a live-action environment Pokémon as a franchise has so much potential. Games like pokken might be a step in the correct direction, but seeing the main series use this outdated battle system where it could be so much more, is just painful.

I'll try and make this as quick as possible.
And subsequently fail.
First up, we're distributing the existing RP forum mod duo to other forums-- not that they won't be around the RP forum still but we're looking to let them see a little action elsewhere. As such from now on Hukuna will be moderating the new Animation forum, and Murdoc will be representing the people of the Wasteland.
You might think it's weird that the Wasteland would need a mod. However, it has a pretty recurring problem in that, much like the in-game Byxbysion Wasteland, things tend to show up there that don't really have a reason to be there. In other words there's a lot of topics posted in the Wasteland that are better suited to other sections, so it is important they get moved out and organized.
Anyway, I get that. As members you're not always totally clear on what forum is for what and what topic should go where. And as it is there's not really a clearly organized place where you can ask questions about the site and community like that.
So we're adding one!
You'll notice the new Site Help forum in the Grand Hall, which exists to filter out and handle any questions new (or old?) users might have about the site, how to use it, proper etiquette and rules around here, where certain kinds of topics should go, and so on. If you've got lingering concerns, I'd suggest heading down there to see if you can resolve them. Of course, I'll encourage staff and veteran/ace members to represent the community by helping point the lost in the proper directions.
Speaking of staff and veteran/ace members, we've made some changes to adjust permissions of the various user groups, following up on a comment I made about doing so back when Familiars/Veterans were introduced. Ace Members have always had higher permissions than normal users, but I feel it's only fair that the same applies to the other groups as well. As such, you'll notice some settings have been tweaked.
Here's a run-down of the new settings for each member group:
GROUP ------------------ Members ----- Familiars ----- Veterans ----- Aces ----- Staff
Max Notifications: . . . . . . . . 50 . . . . . . . . . 60 . . . . . . . . . . 75 . . . . . . . 100 . . . . . 125
Max PM Invites: . . . . . . . . . . 5 . . . . . . . . . . .6 . . . . . . . . . . . 8 . . . . . . . . 10 . . . . . . 13
Max saved PMS: . . . . . . . . . 50 . . . . . . . . 100 . . . . . . . . . 150 . . . . . . . 200 . . . . . 300

Upload space (KB): . . . . . . . 500 . . . . . . . 750 . . . . . . . . . 1000 . . . . . . 1500 . . . . 2000
The only thing there that is any sort of a decrease from existing amounts is the rep-per-day limit, which has been taken down just so we can make people think a little more about which posts they should be up-voting, as opposed to just clicking the 'Like' button on every meme on the site.
I mean, that still might happen. But baby steps. Meme on, frens.
But that brings us to our last topic, Reputation, which a handful of people have already noticed a change. Since we've made the rep a little more exclusive I've taken the liberty of (finally) going through and putting proper levels and titles on the rep values.
Here's what the beginning of that progression looks like:
0----- Neutral
5----- Fledgling
25--- Developing
50--- Samaritan
100-- Benefactor
250-- Altruist
500-- Noble
1000- Sage
There's some more after that of course, but there's no need to go that far here.
Although some of the later ones are oddly specific titles, aren't they?
I wonder why that is.
Until next time!
