    2021 Winter Revel

    I swear we just had one of these yesterday, but...

     

    Another Winter Revel is upon us! The world is now slightly less on fire than it was this time last year, or maybe slightly more-- it's really hard to tell sometimes? But if everything is burning anyway, you may as well pull up a chair and get cozy in front of the metaphorical fireplace, all safe and indoors with us as we celebrate another year of community, harmony, and some other nice wholesome nouns.

     

    This event is open to community veterans and newcomers alike! It is frankly a great time to step in and do some ice-breaking if you've been watching from the side of things and maybe wanted an excuse to like say hi or something baka??? I always look forward to seeing what new faces our semi-annual (bi-annual? there's.. it's two of them, okay?) parties pull in <3

     

    This year's Winter Revel is on Saturday, December 18th! Locked in some far corner of the world doomed to be ostracized from the rest of the internet by merit of your atypical time zone? No sweat. The festivities frolic forth for a full 12 hours, so you're sure to be able to catch some part of it no matter when you're catching your z's!

    Main Events

    • Members of the Year Awards
      • New awards and old ones alike are up for grabs! Just who is the Coolest Clown in Town? On some days, there's so much comptition...
        Everyone is free to vote, and awards will be announced all throughout the party!
      • Categories will be announced on December 10th, and voting will open on December 17th
    • Winter Wondertrade
      • All day, all night, it's the best time of life to put up those 5 IVs, put up those decent shinies, and spread the love! You might just get something spectacular in exchange!

     

    Games Galore

    • Curses
      • Due to a scheduling error, for better or worse we have not replaced the entire games' roster with only Curses. Yet. There's always next party.
        If you aren't familiar, this is the game in which up to eight players take turns asking and answering each other questions, all the while cursing other members with ever-stacking typing quirks, restrictions and oddities that they have to maintain! Drop a curse and you're  o u t! These games always get crazy by the end, so even if you don't play, grab you some of that popcorn, yannowhatimsayin'
    • Silent Knights
      • This year's newest experimental game! A multiplayer spin on the old Taboo game, all players are assigned a certain word. Should you say your word, you are out! The catch? Everybody knows everybody's taboo words except their own. Trick the other players into saying their taboo words to silence them for good, earn points by surviving and killing, and fight your way to the top!
    • Lie-Alive Snowdown
      • Two-truths-and-a-lie, the knock out tourney version! In this game of self-expression and discernment, can you lie your way through the competition and reach the end? Or can you sus out the untruths using what you know about the other community members? We'll go round by round and expose the truths from the lies!
    • Queen's Game
      • A Reborn Classic! It's 'Truth or Dare', but 'Truth or Truth'! Late night when everyone's drunk off their egg nog, get ready to spill the beans! You don't have to drink to play, but it might be more fun, as this game gets best when it gets wild-- you've been warned. Remember, what happens in Queen's Game stays in Queen's Game

     

    And the Free For All

    • To be honest with google killing all the music bots we don't know how we're going to run playlists this year. But we sure will try to! If nothing else, the slammin' jams will always live on in our hearts.
    • CaH is free to run as anyone feels like it! Usually at least one game happens.
    • I hear the Folks are all ready to jump on those Hunger Games, ft some custom community events!
    • And rumor has it a couple of Cool Folks are planning to run them Jack Frost (Jackbox) games aside from the main schedule again. It was a big hit last year, so keep a peep on that one!

     

     

    How to attend?

    The event will take place on its own Discord server! The link will be posted in the main server when it's go time!

     

    The big day is December 18th! Make sure you stay on the Nice list until then!

    i have some regrets about that. BW also just had generic decorative dragons around so i was like, sure this is clearly fine and appropriate for the pokemon world
    but also, something like that would have been a pain to sprite and it's not like it really matters at all, so i wasn't going to include it in game.
    ...fortunate, then, that smeargle spent quite a lot of time and effort on making a big pretty dragon statue for us.

    most TM locations have been replaced. in general, there are new locations in early game and all the mid game tms have kinda just sliiiid down on top of each other. however, all tms have been reset for existing save files. this means you'll be picking up some duplicates, but if i've done my job right nothing should be missed due to the updates

    this is definitely not something i'd do. you're right that it would be more difficult, but i also think it would just be obnoxious, we don't need that flavor of it.

    Although this seems like it would be an easy fix, we didn't actually have a good way to access what our partner would be doing in E18 :c

    ...Fortunately, thanks to the long-running efforts of cass and perry's complete AI overhaul, we have fixed that now and just covered that a few weeks ago!
