Unless we want our banner to say Invision Power Board forever...
-
Okay... So as a whole, this is kinda bittersweet.
The good part is that the new version is great, with greatly improved security features- actually, features, features errywhere... I don't even know where to begin oh my gawd how are we not up to our armpits in features belahbgjfhbdjhgd.
The bad part is that there are so many features falling out my ears I really don't know what to them... Or how to use them, is the bigger problem.
Prime example: You'll notice that there's a little link at the bottom left, reads "Cusomize Skin"
With this nifty little toy you can make the skin themed to any color you want...
Well, as awesome as that is, it also means I can't control other things, such as the banner or new post buttons per skin. Sooooo... I'm at a crossroads as to what to do with this exactly. I'll figure it out in the coming days; in the meantime, bear with me through the slowly changing madness.
That said, enjoy the new interface everyone! -
Late next week? What about all this week (other than Friday, since you've already said you're gone)? Seems like someone's shirking duties.
Unless I can do it tomorrow, I won't have time. Wednesday, school. Thursday through sunday I'm otherwise obligated. Monday, more school. Etc.
Invision is quicker to respond than I expected though so tomorrow is remotely possible... -
Okay.
So.
Big fat NEVERMIND on this whole poll.
I was poking around for some other options on the official Invision site, and lo and behold what did I find but an up-to-date version of our current skin. This will make the transition remarkably (relatively) smooth, so definitely snagging that as soon as I can. A couple hoops to jump through but we're looking at an update probably late next week. -
Call shenanigans all you want, but they never answer their phone...
-
Brief update:
Firstly, as a note, there will be no league this Friday, because by some chance all of us Ikaru, Saya and Myself will not be able to attend. How we're all missing the same day? Magic.
Additionally, I will probably be unable to run the main-line on Thursday until much later in the evening than usual. My apologies, but I'll stay up as late as necessary to finish up any Main-Lining challengers who stick around on that night.
Speaking of missing, we're going to get the highlights situation worked out... Soon.
Hopefully.
*nods*
On a better note!:
Due to the set-up required for Champion Lin's battles, we've moved her into her own line. I am no longer in charge of her battles, and therefore, she will run in the Championship Queue.
(which means we run even faster on Mondays/Fridays, isn't that nice?)

Hello everyone! So after dodging around the internets for the past couple weeks, I've decided that there are certain bandwagons that need jumping on.
Namely-
Well, actually, our forum software, Invision Power Board, is one of the two most popular professional foruming systems out there, the other being vBulliten. You might recognize vBulliten from sites such as Mysidia or PokeCommunity, but in truth I've never been a fan of it.
That said, we're actually running a very old version of IPB- a 2.3 board whereas the current version is 3.1. Yikes. Now it's not as if this wasn't deliberate on my part. The truth is, when 3.x was first released, just before this site went live again, there were no good skins for it, so I chose to remain with the old version (one that I am actually highly familiar with, and knew I could to some extent customize and work with).
However, like I said, after browsing some our neighboring sites, I'm finding that 3.1 is actually suddenly really popular and contains many new features, such as displaying new posts, giving users their own blogs, status updates, mobile device support and generally being much smoother. Additionally the support network for 3.1 seems to be much greater than this archaic version...
So in short, I think it's finally time to upgrade.
...I'm not too happy about this, actually. Why? Because not three weeks ago I had just finished investing a huge amount of energy into synchronizing the appearance of the mainsite with that of the forums- and now the appearance of the forums is going to change entirely and the mainsite suddenly needs to be redone and when I had just done the new banners and skins they need to change too and the whole thing is just a very large scale operation of BLAH.
But I'll get over it.
But! On the note of the forums' appearance- this is where you guys come in- I'm torn as to which skin to use. Now, my license on our forum software is legit and perpetual- meaning I can upgrade us no problemo (I paid 200 dollars; I better get my money's worth out of it. >.>). But the skin is a different story.
The free skins are still classless in my opinion, but hunting around some professional design sites, I've found a few options that I would be okay with. I'd like to leave the final decision to you guys. Don't worry about the price- none are too expensive and I'm willing to ford the cost. But there are some things you should know before you go off voting:
-Whatever skin we get WILL be edited to be Pokemony
-It WILL be normalized across five different colors as we have now
-The banners of all of them WILL be redone.
-The mainsite WILL be redesigned to match... hopefully. *deep breath*
That said, let me show you our candidates:
Blood
Brave
I can't hot-link you to these next three, but all of them are on this page:
http://www.transversestyles.com/work.html
They are:
-Skilltest
-VRocking
-Battlegear
Vote away, kids. For grins and giggles, I've made it so you can vote for more than one. -
Correct. There will be up to three on at once.
N8- we intend to pass Florinia over to Saya ASAP, but she's having technical trouble, so we haven't been able to yet. =s

A recent study found that nearly 48% of all league battles are in the entry-level positions. In theory, this means that if we streamline just those few leaders out of the waiting list, things ought to move a lot faster.
So we are.
Henceforth, Ikaru and Saya Monoke are lending us their time and energy, and will be helping me run league each night. With their systems and management provided, we now have thrice the machines behind the league, thrice the people, and so, we should get through it thrice as fast, and hopefully more to the people who need to leave sooner.
As an addendum to this, this also means we probably will not run for the full four and a half hours as we normally do- it won't be necessary for now as we don't have -that- many people by any means. However, we won't declare a set close time until we find it necessary, probably based on how the next week or two go.
At any rate, everyone please thank them.
This week also is going to be a bit of a test drive for this process, so please bear with us in our potential organizational catastrophes as we work through it all. That said, I firmly believe that in the end, this will work out just fine.
On that note, you all are probably wondering exactly how this is going to work. Well, if you were around last week, you'll know that we no longer use the Topic for sorting through the league. Instead, Nyunyu has generously coded in a separate queue system, working roughly the same way. What you all didn't know is that that system allows for multiple queues. And so we will have three different lines:
I am in charge of the Main Line. The Main Line contains the following leaders: Florinia, Shade, Terra, Kiki, Hardy, Heather, Radomus, Titania, Amaria, Lin.
Ikaru is in charge of the White Line. The White Line contains these leaders: Julia, Shelly, Luna, Elias
Saya Monoke is in charge of the Black Line, which contains: Cain, Cal, Blake
You can see these reflected in the League Leader Schedules, accessed on the left side-menu.
The biggest change for challengers is that this means you will have to decide, if not which leader you will fight ahead of time, instead of on the spot, or at least have enough of an idea who that you can tell us which line you need to be in.
These lines can and probably will change in time as we find it necessary, as may this system, but consider it a step towards a quicker, better league.
-
I would have made this announcement sooner, but I was awaiting a confirmation on certain parts of it, which was since confirmed, and then unconfirmed, and then fell out of existence entirely, so nevermind.
That said, the league will only be running Monday and Tuesday of this week because I am being forced to leave the state later this week, and therefore will not be around to... do anything. Because I'm pressed for time for other developments, I was planning to drop this entire week, however due to the tardiness of this announcement, namely because I don't feel it's fair to spring absence on you the day of- I'm allowing these first two days.
In some form of apology, TXI is scheduled for Thursday night mid-way through the league hour, so that you may all be still somewhat entertained. We have a lot of newcomers since our last themed tournament, so I'm encouraging everyone who will be around to enter.
Consider this absence an investment. Within the coming weeks, a new league system should be instated that will greatly alleviate (though not eliminate) waiting times. Please bear with us until then. -
Banned for using that damn Penguin...
Banned for ninja'ing me.

>Abercrombie
There is no "PFFFTCHCHCHHHH" image strong enough to describe my feelings here.
As for strangers: You lucky bastard, I wear my top hat out and people just laugh at me. :c
try putting some chains on it?
Maybe this place is just trendier...
-
Uh.
This was before the tophat, N8. I think I was 14 at the time of this? Back then I wore abercrombie because my uncle got it for me and I had no idea or mind for the cultural implications.
And for your information, N8, the days I wear that hat out and about I get all sorts of compliments from total strangers on it. <3

There are so many things wrong with that picture I don't even know where to begin....

Dump of stuff. Meet what I actually do in class.
Random:
I distinctly remember studying Hobbes' social theory during this one, but in retrospect it's probably more based off of this.
Much like that is from the heartbreaking story
Miscellaneous Character Designs:
Revised design I've had for quite some time. Now with about 50% accidentally looking like Michael Jackson. (it was a problem before; trust me)
Same character; different pose (kinda hastily done ._.)
Very rough abstraction of anthropomorphosized death. Tried to get the imagery of the grim reaper without being overly cliche about it. The scythe is intend to be non-solid, that's not just laziness, but I haven't decided what sort of effect I will use for it in the end.
Probably my favorite in terms of design. Erm, she would be dark if her clothes/hair appeared black as they're supposed to. Curse my lack of copic markers.
Link title says it all...
This is what I imagined the girl who's been talking to me at night lately to look like.
These are mostly very old drawings, back when I was trying to do art for every leader.
That obviously never happened because I have no tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime.
And then this was the original concept art for-

...Might wanna check that link.
If I may ask, why was he banned? I'm only curious because he was the one who brought the idea of affiliating with Mysidia in the first place.

This wholeGeo thing...
It's funny because it's not funny.
And never has been.
-
Thanks so much, Ikaru and Bullet.
So there are really three main jobs involved with cards
-Nightly updates
-Rankshifts
-Creating new ones.
The third is the big one, and really the only one that needs to be taught. N8 is usually awesome and getting rankshifts done super fast though, so between the other two who wants to take what? Not to say that all of you can't help out with the creation?
N8, I will leave the teaching to you, if you've the time, especially given you have more experience with the new templates than I do at this point.

If you're a regular who's just come to the normal URL hoping to peruse the latest sets being posted in The Pokedex Project then you're probably wondering what the hell you're looking at.
However, chances are you'll have figured it out by the end of this sentence anyway. In case you haven't, welcome to the mainsite, future home of many amazing and sparkly things.
No promises on the sparkly part.
So everyone's going to want to change their bookmarks for the forums- sorry about that inconvenience, but bear with us while we get through this switch.
You'll notice that the mainsite itself isn't actually host to any real content at this time- only serving as a front end for the forums and all. The good news of that is that it is a blank slate. So if you have any ideas of things you want to be on the mainsite, let's hear it. Additionally, I would be interested if anyone has ideas for articles they would like to publish on the front, to see those.
Things currently planned for the site:
- Usage Stats
- League Log Viewer
- Transitioning League Info to Site
- Pokedex Project
- +Infinitas
- Embedded Silver LP
- Embedded Reborn League Videos
And I am very much open to other suggestions.
As a final matter of business, we find ourselves again understaffed regarding the league. Logs... Are apparently being taken care of by three different people, each of who tells me that the others is wrong, yet all of whom's work looks fine to me, so that seems to be getting done well enough (O_o;;
, HOWEVER.The more pressing issue is Cards, which we are severely behind on. N8 has been working hard, but the increased traffic to the league is simply too much of a task for a single person to handle.
So, I am looking for one or two other people who would be interested in volunteering their time to create and/or update cards for the league. The cards are made using GraphicsGale, uploaded using FileZilla FTP (another program can work if you like) and I will be teaching you how via either Skype or TeamViewer. All of those programs are free, mind, so there shouldn't be anyone who cannot do it. Is there anyone who is interested?

There's a new sheriff in town, what what?
Ladies and Gentlemen of Reborn, I present to you your new Admin, Ashen!
I imagine for many of you this may seem out of the blue, considering she hasn't technically been active here more than a few days. Some brief history for you all though: In an earlier incarnation of the site she actually hosted us in a time when I could not, and was an excellent co-admin.
Those days, however passed, and she was left running a Pokemon/gaming site/blog for some time. So a few days ago I approached her with an offer. Therefore, very shortly, we will be hosting her blog in return- and in the meantime, Ashen rejoins the staff, heading up a certain project development that she had been working on a few years ago.
...There would be a suspenseful moment here, but the title has already given it away.
Reborn is developing its own Pokedex, complete with the strategy section and moveset collection that Smogon has not been able to publicize yet. The dex itself is already in development, but once its set-up is complete, we will be asking for the help of everyone to make this project a success.

Scratch that, we already are!
You'll note that a new forum has been created under the Pokemon section (note, this is members-only for the time being, so if you're a guest, you'll have to register to see it!) cataloging topics for every fully evolved, unevolving and popular NFE Pokemon. Each of those topics contains a brief template for you all to submit your sets into the strategy dex. Also please note you are free to export sets directly from PO. We are depending on all of your contributions to make this possible.
For every set you submit to a Pokemon's topic, you will be marked for a value reward in the future. Sets that are finalized, making it into the finished dex (most will) will receive a bonus, and additionally, you will automatically get a bonus if you are the first person to submit a set for that Pokemon. Details on the nature of these rewards will come shortly.
In these topics, feel free to comment on, critique each others' or edit your own sets as well. These will stay open for quite some time- and there should be plenty of opportunity for submission and discussion.
As was pointed out earlier, it may be a little bit difficult to find the Pokemon you want to submit a set for when there are approximately 13 pages of other Pokemon to sift through. I realize this. I apologize. I had intended to promote the forum's specific search function to workaround this, however it turns out it does not search in topic titles. Oops.
Therefore, I'll write a query myself that will allow you all to search a specific Pokemon and go to that topic quickly. I will probably do this after league tonight. Until then, bear with me.
If anyone has any suggestions of things to be sure to include in the Pokedex, feel free to drop them off here. And thank you, everyone, for your support. -
Congratulations to the winner of the Banner Creation Contest...
...Who... wishes to remain anonymous. Well, that's not exactly great for the publicity of it, but the work they put in is much appreciate nonetheless!
The second place Banner was the work of Ikaru, while both of the entries with 1 vote each were Hark's, and the final entry belong to Inuki.
Again, thank you to everyone who took the time to create an entry. All competitors have been marked for reward in credit in a system planned for Reborn's near future... More on that at another time.
The banners for all five skins have been finished, and you can see them below:
Monochrome
Blue
Red
Green
Purple
Finally, Lin is now available for battle as of next week, when the Reborn League will at last be in full swing.
Official policies on X-League will follow shortly there-after. -
Absol was chosen as the theme's mascot, because I feel it represents the duality of black and white better than any other single Pokemon could. It definitely has nothing to do with how extraordinarily biased I am.
And N8, the list is:
Monochrome- Absol
Red- Scizor
Blue- Lucario
Green- Gardevoir
Purple- Mismagius
It's also a complete coincidence that my three favorite pokemon happen to be on that list. Yep. Mhm.
