The Voltorb mini game. How do I git gud?

At this point its almost a complete crapshoot, there is no 100% to win this. The most logical thing in this situation would be to pick the 6-1 column and try the point of its interception with 7-2, but then its pretty much pure luck for a few turns. And even the most logical choice gonna have like 30% bomb. it got a huge element of random, there is just no way around it.

Well obviously you can completely mark up the rows like the middle one that have only bombs and 1s in them because they're useless. Other than that you're in a casino so it's gonna be largely luck based as you'd expect. You can however increase your odds by analyzing the board. For example the top row has 3 bombs and 6 points which means both of its point squares are gonna be 3s. So it's definitely not gonna be the 4th column since that one can only contain a single 2 point square. At the same time you've excluded the top and middle rows from containing the 2 pointer for the 4th column.

Middle column could have one 3 pointer or two 2 pointers so the odds of it being in that one are less than it being in the other 3.

On the other hand, columns 1,2 and 5 can also only contain 3 pointers so that gives some very useful information. Now take a look at the bottom row which has 2 bombs and 6 points. You can reach 6 with three 2 point items but since we know 3 of the columns cannot contain 2 pointers, the combination has to be 1, 2 and 3.  This means either bottom row middle is the 2 pointer or bottom row 4th column is the 2 pointer. At this point you can just take the 50-50 since it's relatively safe. The middle row only has 1 bomb so your odds are good that you'll at least hit a 1 if not the 2 pointer.

And if you hit a 1 then the other spot is guaranteed.

From there you can keep doing this type of analyzing but you might be better off just guessing and getting your coins from the lower levels if you fail....

That's what I did and eventually stepped on a voltorb. Oh well :(...

By the time I get to level 6 or so my patience for abstract thinking kind of...wanes instead. Guess I'll just have to get better at it :(

You got to level 6?  Even after looking u a lot of guides, I only got to level 5 twice.  After level 3 or 4, the last few spaces really do come down to luck.

Yeah, well...whenever I start a new rejuvenation playthrough I always grind those 12k coins right after I get the coin case, so I, too, had to teach myself how play voltorb flip.

It's just...it's frustrating not being able to capitalize on the later levels when I tread on them because the only choices are either 3s or voltorbs. So I get nothing and delevel a whole lot :(...

There's a website that helps calculate odds of Voltorb flips if you want me to send a link?

If it means me having to input values the site is not sure of, then it will probably end up being me helping the site rather than the other way around;; :(

Alright, I used to use a dry erase board and try and solve it myself, wasn't very good at it though though my brother uses playing cards and paper and pencil. He'll flip the cards he thinks are voltorbs working backwards to solve it

Damn, I was planning on writing a script for the voltorb flip but looks like someone beat me to it. The fact it still has a bit of luck in it makes me too impatient to solve it each time myself when I need a lot of points to get the rewards I'm usually looking for. Thanks for showing the site @TheWaddleDee

I reached level 8 for the first time yesterday. Level 7 gave me 1700 coins. Happiest moment in my run.

This was no skill at all. There are a lot of 50-50 situations where, well, you have to make choices.

Once you know which rows/columns are cleared and how many coins you lack in the others, the game gets simpler.

I have miserable luck can't make it past 5th level

Well, what I did is pretty well summed up by @Gheist in his post

Basically, understand the mechanics, the rules and do your best to sniff out the 2s and 3s using logic to point you in the right tiles.
