[OOC] [Sign Ups!] Devil May Cry: Scattered Tomb

GodofGamingRWBY

Recommended Posts

Long ago, there was war between the Human World and the other. The World of Demons, the Underworld. However, one soul awoke to justice, betraying the Underworld to protect Humanity. After his legendary battle with the Demon King, he sealed the Underworld with his personal sword, and his strength, before retiring in the Human World to live out the rest of his days in solitude.

…What a load of shit. considering how many demons are roaming around. If the Demon World really is sealed, then it’s sure not acting like it, and neither are the hordes of demons roving around.

Anyways, that old fairy tale isn’t important. What’s important is how we’re in a crisis, demon crisis specifically, and all of the hot shot Devil Hunters are dealing with some crap down in Redgrave City. Godforsaken place it is. So, I’m sending this message to tell you that you’re hired! We can negotiate payment when you get to the city, Hellscape City specifically. Seriously what the hell is it with all these names...

Ah, whatever. I should still be kicking by the time you get here. If I’m not, and you’ll know if I’m not, put a bullet in my corpse for fucking up.

Markus out.

Hello everyone, GodofGamingRWBY here again with a new RP for Devil May Cry. Devil May Cry: Shattered Tombs is an RP based set around the same time as Devil May Cry 5. Obviously, this is partly as a celebration for the fact that the series is continuing, and because I've just wanted to run a DMC RP for a while now.

While the Qliphoth runs rampant in Redgrave City, the ground has given way in the middle of Hellscape City, revealing a tomb that continues to spew out its own demons, almost as if accepting a challenge. The demons kill and abduct the human residents, forcing individuals far and wide to come to deal with the problem before it begins to spread outside the city.

You shall take the role of these individuals, hired to clear out the tombs, and put a stop of the demons infesting it, and on the way, be as stylish as possible. Truly, what else could be asked for?

There’s no limit to people who can sign up, but it will be difficult to get new people in after the RP starts. So, just being warned.

Below you’ll find information on how the RP will function, and character sheets. If you’re interested, then come to the Discord, located here.

Anyway, I’ll leave you alone now.

JACKPOT

Mechanics

Spoiler

Combat: When performing actions that have a chance of failure, based on the character’s abilities and capabilities, a “Roll to Hit” system will be utilized for moments in combat and certain feats. In boss fights and certain events, a d6 dice will be rolled, with a certain dice number being required to pass the check. Your stats can assist you in this, giving you more dice to roll in order to hit that check. So, for example, you want to pry open a door, which requires at least one hit of 3 to achieve. A person with 3 strength will get 3d6 dice, and if they can get at least one three or higher, they pass.

Red Orbs: The currency of the game, Red Orbs are acquired by slaying demons. Red Orbs are given to each player, but you are able to share Orbs between characters if you wish.

Upgrades: Once you arrive at the Upgrade Station, you will be able to trade in Red Orbs for new weapons and upgrades to your character/weapons. When upgrading, you can either give ideas or chose to let either Shade or I create the upgrades. Most weapons will have up to 5 possible types of upgrades, but the more simple a weapon is, the less upgrades it will likely have. But regardless, window shopping isn’t allowed, and in order to unlock a weapon or branch of skills in the Upgrade Station a payment of 300 Orbs is required. We aren’t here to manage your christmas shopping.

STYLISH Rankings: As per Devil May Cry tradition, this RP is going to focus on styling on enemies as hard as you can. Being stylish will allow you to acquire extra items or more Red Orbs, therefore allowing you to get more upgrades, letting you become MORE stylish, get MORE Red Orbs, get MORE upgrades, and you get the idea. While I’ll be keeping track of style, here’s how I generally track them:

+ Stylish moves/posts
+ Not using the same move over and over
+ Taunting when there is a slight chance of danger
+ Not getting hit
- Getting hit
- Using the same moving over and over
- Doing nothing

Character Sheet

Age:
Sex:
Gender:
Species: Human, demon, half-demon, artificial demon, whatever you want.

Appearance:

Personality:

Red Orb count: Every character starts with 500 Red Orbs.

Gimmick: What makes your fighting style unique from all others. You can only start off with one, but you are able to potentially get more later in the story.

Examples: Charge Weapons, Multiple Combat Styles, Familiars

Weapons: You can start off with two weapons. You can be creative, just make sure your starting weapons have a practical use. You can switch between weapons during combat

Examples: Gas-powered Swords, Specialty Handguns, Weaponized Electric Guitars

Styles: Your general fighting style(s), giving your weapons an extra edge from techniques. You can start with two styles. Styles can also be switched between missions.

Examples: Cybernetics, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Acrobatics

Trigger: Your “special mode”, tied to your general gimmick. These can be far more free formed, being their own kind of attack or adding an extra edge to your moveset. Triggers can only be changed in special missions, so choosing your first is important.

Examples: Devil Trigger (A demonic transformation unique to those wielding demonic abilities), Grenade Rain.

Stats: The bread and butter to how your characters will be seen as. Each character starts off with 10 points to put in any of the five stats, and can put no more than 5 points in any one stat. Stats are able to be upgraded during the game, either by spending orbs or by acquiring hidden items.

Firepower: The strength of your general guns/ranged weaponry, or how versatile they are. 0 is no guns, while 5 would be equivalent to highest-end vehicle mounted weapons or artillery.

Strength: How strong YOU actually are. 0 is normal human, 5 is strength able to surpass most forms of dedicated heavy machinery.

Magic: Your affinity for demonic energy, how well you can channel it, how strong it is, etc.  0 magic is reserved for humans who have no magical potential or demonic energy. 5 is for those who have embraced their demonic heritage, or spent years mastering their magic potential.

Skill: How much training you’ve put into the art of fighting, such as dodging or other things. 0 is just brute force with otherwise no flair, while 5 is far more free flowing, a true flexible style of combat.

Backstory: What is your story? How did you come into the Demon Slaying business? Or rather, how did you come to deal with the Tomb?

Characters of Interest (Updated over time)

Spoiler

Markus: The commander in chief of Hellscape City’s police force, and retired devil hunter, impressive given that he’s a normal human. He’s in charge of demon related business, and due to the Tomb’s appearance, he’s taken command of all operations against it. He’s the one that dragged you into this business.

Locations (Updated over time)

Spoiler

Hellscape City: A rather unimpressive city that serves as a hidden hub for most devil hunting business, at least as much as it can attract, thanks to its small, consistent demon infestation and general casual reactions of the populace to the more supernatural. Recently however, with the Tomb opening up in the middle of the city, the inner workings of demons have been made known to the rest of the world.

The Tomb: A nickname given to the giant underground labyrinth that appeared in Hellscape City, spewing out demons constantly. Nothing much is known about the Tomb, as no one knew of its existence until now.

Rules
- Try to be respectful to others.
- While you’re allowed to have a ton of flair, try not to Godmode. If battles between characters happen, don’t write out interactions happening without going over them with the other. That should be given. You ain’t Dante.
- GM gets the last say.
- I will be attempting to update at least once per week, with potential extra for down time. This rule will likely change depending on the state of the RP.
- Overall just… Keep bad RP habits away. Godmodding, Suism, etc.
-Have fun.

Special thanks to @Hal Henderics for assisting me during creation of the RP.

Sceleratis

Spoiler

Name: Sceleratis Eques
Age: 22
Sex: Female
Gender: Female
Species: Angel

Appearance: Sceleratis stands at a solid 5’6” in height, with long brown hair, dull grey eyes, and rather pale skin. Her outfit generally consists of a large, bright grey trench coat that is opened up at the middle and has a long slit on the back left portion to allow Folkvangr’s sheath to remain out, with a white shirt and black vest underneath, along with black dress pants to add into that. Along with all of this, she wears black fingerless gloves on both hands, along with black boots.

Her Ascended form is something that is a good two inches taller than her normal form, with a more angelic appearance than most, appearing as a inhuman woman wearing her normal trench coat, albeit covered with feathers and a black, armored chest, along with a blank faceplate covering her eyes and nose, leaving only the bottom of her black face visible. She has a gold halo standing upright, fused into the back of her neck and sticking upwards, with a small cut that disconnects the halo itself. While her legs don’t appear much due to the dress, they are clearly armored in rough black plating, with sharp, taloned feet the only uncovered part. Her arms are covered in white, feathery cloth that seem to fuse with her skin, with the only exception being the parts that drape off of them. Lastly, Sceleratis has two large wings covered in white feathers, with the further parts that let her fly being a more leathery black.

Personality: Sceleratis, despite her history and reputation, is a fairly sociable woman who prefers to become friends to those she works with. Though, while open and more than willing to lend a hand with most situations, she can be very insistent on striking off on her own from time to time to give people she meets time away from her to do her job of Devil Hunting, along with being a bit more uncomfortable when talking about her own past.

Gimmick:

Exceed: Sceleratis’s gauntlets and boots can be rev’d up, spewing flammable liquid on the weapons to allow her to at flaming punches and kicks to her moveset.

Weapons:

Folkvangr: a single handed longsword that, while looking simplistic, is a Devil Arm that can ignite itself. However, it is clearly sealed, and isn’t the most practical in combat.

Adriel’s Gauntlets:  A pair solid white plated gloves and boots that cover the outside of her normal outfit, with lightly clawed fingers that don’t hamper too much with her ability to do... anything, really.

Styles:

Inferno: a style that focuses on mobility, using her flames from her gauntlets in order to create a mesmerizing pattern of fire, all while weaving through attacks and striking at weak points.

Demon Slayer: A style that focuses on powerful strike, utilizing her full power as an Angel. Generally, this just means she'll attempt to brute force her way through attacks.

Trigger:

Ascension: Sceleratis’s strengthened form as an angel. Sceleratis is capable of entering this form for a limited time, granting her a boost to her strength, magic, and mobility while she’s in it.

Stats: 10/10

Durability: 1: Despite being an Angel, Sceleratis is not that much better at taking blows than most humans, leaving her behind most Devil Hunters.

Firepower: 0: Sceleratis, for whatever reason, does not carry any guns with her.

Strength: 4: Due to rigorous training in her lifetime, Sceleratis is far stronger than her appearance would suggest. It helps that most of her magical energy is often used to supply her strength.

Magic: 2: Ordinarily, Sceleratis would have very limited magical potential on her own. However, due to Folkvangr’s nature, she’s has a significant well of energy to draw upon. She’s just rather crass with how she uses it.

Skill: 3: Years of experience has allowed Sceleratis to hone her talents, and while she isn’t yet the best Devil Hunter, her ability to control the flow of a battle are still impressive.

Joseph "Clownback" Grimaldi

Spoiler

Name: Joseph "Clownback" Grimaldi
Age: 31
Sex: Male
Gender: Male
Species: Modified Human

Appearance: Their white tattoo'd face displays hearts around their eyes, this, however is covered up with whiteface makeup that displays Spades around their eyes.  Of course, nobody would know this, as they wear a porcelain mask with diamond shaped black holes for eyes.  The rest of their outfit is done up in red, purple, black, and white stripes, intermixed with yellow stars, a mess of rags and puffy poofs, topped with purple and gold striped gloves and pointy shoes.

Personality:  Casual and satirical, their manner of speaking comes off as a stark contrast to their appearance and behavior.

Red Orb count: 500

Gimmick:

Demon Eater: The user's body has acclimated to controlling the energy of lesser demons to survive.  The user's Magic temporarily increases as they kill Low-level demons, gorging themselves on the energy, and it decreases when they are attacked by higher level demons.

Weapons:

Knifeglove: A mechanized wristband that feeds knives directly into the user's hands, perfect for stabbing and throwing.

Hollow Mallet: A huge, hollow titanium mallet, made to look much heavier than it really is.

Styles:

Juggler: The user specializes in tossing their weapon around, sending it, and their enemies, flying.

Circus Clown: The user weaves taunts in with punishing attacks.  Getting hit while taunting gives sharply increased Style, while taunting alone now doesn't grant any, as the user takes enemy attacks in a hilarious manner.

Trigger:

Devil Trigger: Clownback: Filled with the energy of low-level demons, Grimaldi's body transforms as Trypoxylus beetles inflate his loose clothing, and thin wires erupt from his now-wooden skin, in this state, damage he takes spills out bugs that can corrupt low-level demons, while damage he does is slightly enhanced.  He can levitate in a limited fashion in this form, as his wires can latch onto scenery to lift him up.

Stats: The bread and butter to how your characters will be seen as. Each character starts off with 10 points to put in any of the five stats, and can put no more than 5 points in any one stat. Stats are able to be upgraded during the game, either by spending orbs or by acquiring hidden items.

Durability: 5

Firepower: 1

Strength: 0

Magic: 1

Skill: 3

Backstory: Once a humble clown of human descent, Grimaldi had been dragged to hell to entertain cruel and brutish demons of the lowest class, upon his eventual return years later as a twisted monster, he has decided he'd rather not go back.  To that end, he seeks the destruction of all entrances in or out of the Demon World.

Izumi Nakamura

Spoiler

Name:  Izumi Nakamura
Age:  40
Sex:  Female
Gender:  Female
Species: Human

Appearance:  Izumi is Japanese-American, and looks very Japanese, even speaking the language (with a Californian accent).  She has dark hair cut at her shoulders, dark eyes, and well-tanned skin.  Izumi prefers to wear black motorcycle leathers with a superhero T-shirt underneath (Captain Marvel, Wasp, Rogue, and Jane Foster Thor are favorites); the back of her leather jacket is emblazoned with the phrase “Born to be √2”.  Izumi always travels with a motorcycle helmet, but only wears it if there’s kids around, so as to set a positive example.

Personality:  Izumi is something of a wild-woman.  Competitive, impulsive, and free-spirited, she’s as comfortable fencing before an audience of thousands clad in plate armor as she is running down demons on her motorcycle or pounding trigonometry into the reluctant brains of bored high school students.  An enthusiastic practitioner of HEMA, Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-Ryu, boxing, and karate, she was only really held back from numerous titles by the feeling that being a superhero just might be cheating.  Just a little.

Red Orb count: 500

Gimmick: Izumi can generate an energy field she calls Grabblitz, black lightning that disrupts other supernatural energies.  It doesn’t weaken them so much as make them harder to store and control, the effect increasing with more exposure, which is usually the same result but can have unintended consequences.  The effects aren’t permanent either, and slowly wear off over time.  Of course, even if you aren’t using supernatural powers, it’s still electricity, and getting hit by it will hurt no matter what you are.  As a side effect, Izumi is somewhat tougher, and a lot faster and stronger than a human should be able to get even with the substantial amount of training she does, much less one of her age and build.

Weapons:

Modernized Daisho:  A World War II officer’s katana, a bokken, a bowie knife, and a can of mace.  A practical weapon for every situation!

Knightly Arsenal:  A 2006 VRSCSE2 Harley Davidson motorcycle, a naginata, and a heater shield, for the modern knight-errant.

Styles:

Fencing Stance:  Izumi stays agile and mobile, using reach and technique to drive home devastating thrusts while avoiding or parrying enemy attacks.

Armored Stance:  Drawing on her HEMA and kenjutsu training, Izumi assumes a solid, grounded stance ideal for making powerful attacks while in armor, to break through your opponent’s own armor and guard, or to strike at their weak points.

Trigger: Black Burst – Instead of channeling Grabblitz through her body or weapons, Izumi releases a huge blast of the energy around herself, messing up the supernatural powers of everyone in a large radius.

Stats:

Durability: 1.  Izumi is noticeably tougher than a normal human.  Bullets, blades, and such are still a threat, but they’ll have a harder time causing significant damage than expected.

Firepower: 0.  Izumi doesn’t own any guns, and wouldn’t know how to use one if she had one.

Strength: 2.  Izumi isn’t at the top end of supernatural strength, but she can juggle loaded refrigerators without too much trouble.

Magic:  2.  Grabblitz is very powerful and useful, especially against supernatural threats, but it’s Izumi’s only magical ability.

Skill:  5.  Izumi is good with her various weapons.  Very, very good.  If not for feeling like it’s cheating considering her superhuman strength, speed, and toughness, she could have easily made the American Olympic fencing team.   Her kenjutsu master eagerly awaits the day she retires from teaching high school, in the hopes of passing his school on to her.  Swords do not kill unless she wants them to.  The Japanese sword memes are reality in her hands.

Backstory: Izumi was introduced to the supernatural relatively late in life, when a demon broke into her house in the night and attempted to kill and eat her two year old daughter.  Izumi killed the demon instead, with her grandfather’s sword, awakening Grabblitz as she bathed her blade and herself in the supernatural predator’s blood.  Since then, she’s lead a double life; math teacher, loving parent, and martial artist by day, monster hunter by night.

And she’s gotten pretty good at it too.  She’s built up something of a reputation in Hellscape City as an up-and-comer who is in the business to make the world safer for the little guy, rather than to turn a profit.  Thus far, the grisly and stab-tastic fate of the last poor shmuck to try it has kept any vengeful demons from going after her daughter, but Izumi isn’t about to stop until she’s certain everyone’s kids are safe from the forces of hell.

A Symphony for the Devil

Name: Kali Varr (Real name Claire Clearheart)
Age: 19
Sex: Yes
Gender: Female
Species: Half Demon

Appearance: A tall woman of ambiguously Caucasian descent with a below average weight and build. Her blonde hair is kept in a mohawk fade, with bright neon red 'highlighting'...and roots, although she doesn't like to tell people that last bit. Her eyes are a rich brown, with slightly dark bags visible underneath it due to one or four too many late nights.

She usually wears a dark blue leather and duct tape bomber jacket with bent arcing nails on the shoulder pads that are there for decoration and not to hold the thing together, a large ocean wave has been lovingly emblazoned on the back, along with some arcing white waves on the sleeves. The jacket is worn closed for modesty, and to prevent people from just grabbing on. Her choice in lower wear is considerably less interesting, having realized long ago that thick and rugged jeans are better than stockings in a scrap, and that a leather belt worn relatively tightly over the stomach is another decent way to prevent wardrobe malfunctions.

Her other major decorations include a pair of dark blue pleather gloves that used to have spikes on the back, a pair of black combat boots that has seen some good and proper stomping, and the electric guitar she usually slings over her shoulder.

Personality: Loud, outspoken, and passionate, Kali has been identified as a punk and delinquent ever since she picked up a guitar, and played a tune mean enough to call demons over. She generally comes off to most as someone with a chip on her shoulder, as years of living in a world blissfully unaware that the demons she contends with were literal has gotten her a large portion of the blame for the damage caused by the demon attacks she thwarted. The fact that people used to pity or laugh at her 'delusions' whenever she explains what 'The Truth' was didn't help things much either.

An almost complete and utter lack of guidance during her early devil hunting years has caused here to develop a tendency to see patterns that just aren't there, and invent dark demonic conspiracies of varying influence based on 'gathered evidence' to ascribe blame to. Of course, the fact that she lives in a world where they actually exists has done very little to dissuade her from this way of thinking.

Red Orb count: 500 Orbs

Gimmick:
Welcome to the Jungle: Whenever Kali uses her magical powers, the surrounding seems to shift slightly, turning into a more ideal venue to rock out in at a rate that varies depending on how much of her magic she expends and how stylishly she uses it. Which is extremely helpful for Kali, considering the fact that her own magical powers strengthen or weaken depending on how suitable the area is for a musical performance. Although she doesn't know the exact reason why this happens, she suspects that it obviously has something to do with her demonic heritage. Kali gains a bonus to her magic stat at a rate that entirely depends on how stylish she has been.

Weapons
Starcaster: A perpetually beat up looking bright black and white hollow bodied Electric guitar of indeterminable make and model. Serving as the main focus for Kali's magical powers, this guitar is heavily enchanted to serve as it's own speakers, and also to not shatter into a million pieces the moment she swings it at something.

Electric Mayhem: A set of unassuming looking matte black iron guitar picks with jagged lightning symbols of varying colors emblazoned on it's center, these guitar picks have been modified to channel magic and convert it into bolts of lightning, and to reflect them with greater force.

Styles
Shout to the Underground: A frenetic and aggressive style that boosts raw magical power, reaction time, and movement speed in exchange for throwing all caution to the wind, generating the demonic magical energy equivalent of a large neon sign pointing at the general location of a hot meal, and creating an ungodly racket with her shouting and loud electric guitar music. This style uses a barrage of magical blows to try and pound someone to the ground, allowing Kali to literally shout at the folks home underground while she beats the everhating crap out of the target.

Nothing Else Matters: A much more airy and cautious style that rewards patience and skill over aggression, this style puts a heavier emphasis on skillfully dodging away from the people attacking her, and grants style bonuses for doing so after taunting someone.

Trigger
Devil Trigger: A secret technique she shares with other half demons, Kali is able to tap more directly into her demonic heritage and temporarily transform into a flying fully demonic form that allows her to really cut loose with her magic and move and react faster than she had ever moved before, because she's never actually used her devil trigger.

Stats: The bread and butter to how your characters will be seen as. Each character starts off with 10 points to put in any of the five stats, and can put no more than 5 points in any one stat. Stats are able to be upgraded during the game, either by spending orbs or by acquiring hidden items.

Durability: 2- Kali is a lot tougher than she looks, having gotten used to taking the odd bone shattering blow and walking it off in a youth spent struggling against demons both figurative and literal, and spending entire nights rocking out in a crowded venue.

Firepower: 0 - Kali has never actually held a gun in her life except to pose with in pictures, mostly because she never felt the need to learn how to use one when she can play a literally face melting power chord instead.

Strength: 1 - Kali isn't at the peak of half demon physical prowess, having spent more of her time with practicing her music and performing in gigs than with benchpressing cars or juggling refrigerators, she's still noticeably a lot stronger than her frame would suggest though, and she has gotten into trouble for breaking bones and set pieces by complete accident when she was younger.

Magic: 5 - As she is self taught, Kali's style and use of magic reflects her personality and interests closer than most, being a blunt instrument used directly very well in an energetic manner. This is mostly due to it's user try hardy nature leading to curious solutions that use a lot more effort and magical power than is actually needed, which when combined with her music based casting method, often makes her devil hunting efforts come off as just being one really violent rave; not that she minds this much that is.

Skill: 2 - Kali is a fair bit more experienced than most when it comes to rough and tumble fights, but she is still more used to taking on drunken wastrels and smaller less intelligent hordes of demons than she is at actual high stakes giant demon hunting.

Backstory: Conceived after an hours long rock and roll concert turned literal battle of the bands, Morganna was introduced to the family business and the supernatural world as soon as she could hold and tune an electric guitar properly, and her father told her who her absent mother truly was, a rock and roll star that is out making a name for herself in the underground, where she came from, because she was a demon, and also not dead.

Morganna hunts devils for a couple of simple reasons, one; they just won't fucking leave her alone anymore, two; it's always good to get a lot of practice in before you try for the real thing, especially with something as chaotic and dangerous as magic, and three; she hopes that someday, someway, she'll find her mother, BEAT THE EVERLOVING CRAP OUT OF HER FOR ABANDONING HER IN THE FIRST PLACE, and then ask her why.

James Stone, Professional Demon Wrestler.

Spoiler

Name: James Stone, Stage Name: DVS (Pronounced Devious)
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Gender: Male
Species: Human

Appearance: A man of about six feet in height. His hair is red and his eyes are an unnatural purple, owing to the colored contacts he wears. Outside of fights he wears a white lab coat, which he quickly removes when trouble starts to reveal a set of normal navy blue scrubs. He wears a special harness so that he can carry The Chair! hands free.

Personality: DVS is in a word, a complete heel. He's egotistical, cocky, and really doesn't care about playing fair by any stretch of the imagination. Basically, an asshole who think's he's better than his opponents, and uses this to throw them off through their own anger.

Red Orb count: 500

Gimmick: Damage Reversal: Being a human, DVS can’t really match a demon in pure strength. What he can do is use their strength against them. (Because they’re really, really stupid.)

Weapons: Chains of Fury (Ītzpāpālōtl): These chains contain a once powerful demon. DVS only refers to her by pet names so she gets angrier.
The Chair!: A seemingly normal folding chair, haunted by the ghost of a former wrestler who died in a match gone wrong.

Styles: Heel: A style ideal for pissing people off, mainly using the opponent's own attacks against them and generally wearing them down.
Champ In the Making: The Style to finish a fight with, relying on beating down the opponent and then going for the metaphorical pin.

Trigger: Bow to the Champion!: An ancient technique from the far past of last month, where DVS moves in such a way to induce a minor hypnotic state in his opponents, making them go along with DVS’ moves.

Stats: The bread and butter to how your characters will be seen as. Each character starts off with 10 points to put in any of the five stats, and can put no more than 5 points in any one stat. Stats are able to be upgraded during the game, either by spending orbs or by acquiring hidden items.

Durability: 2 DVS is surprisingly durable. Probably because he still gets hit on occasion.

Firepower: 0 The only guns DVS needs are the ones attached to his body.

Strength: 3 While he mostly gets by by using the strength of his opponents against themselves, DVS still keeps himself in top form to keep whatever edge he can get.

Magic: 0 DVS just doesn’t know how to use magic.

Skill: 5 What, you think that just because wrestling is fake this doesn’t need skill?

Backstory: Born of the union of a demon and a pharmacist, DVS is a half demon with a streak for preventive medicine. And the best medicine is violence, applied liberally to those that would attack people. This of course means that it's obvious that he'd go into the field of demon hunting, applying his knowledge of wrestling to his enemies.

Active Angel

Name: Brigitte Lughaidh
Age: 20
Sex: F
Gender: F
Species: Half-angel

Appearance: A tall, athletic woman with strawberry-blonde hair extending just past her shoulder. Her eyes are a green that's bright enough to make one question whether they're actually glowing or not. She has a faint dusting of freckles across her cheeks. She doesn't typically wear armor except for silvery gauntlets on her hands. Her attire consists of a white bomber jacket (typically left open in the front) with a faux-fur collar that lays down against her shoulders, and a short tank top beneath that. Her legs are covered with a pair of black tights and a pair of khaki shorts. She also wears a pair of combat boots.

Her Angel Trigger looks a bit different, decking her out in bits of flowing silver armor that blend with her outfit. . . and her flesh, though her face is mostly untouched. (Her eyes do, in fact, glow, though.) This includes a winged helmet and pauldrons with a similarly swept design. Her "outfit" is still light, but metallic silver guards flow in and out of her forearms and shins, as well as across her chest.

Personality: Perhaps not unexpectedly, Brigitte tends to be a bit haughty and has previously been described as insufferable; she unconsciously assumes she knows better than people and acts accordingly. Despite this, though, she's legitimately friendly (to people that she doesn't think are evil) and actually rather fun-loving (to the point of rowdiness.) She can be somewhat awkward at first brush, as she is somewhat aware of how people tend to feel about her. Not the fastest learner, but she does well with what she already knows.

Red Orb count: 500

Gimmick: Seraphim: Brigitte can sacrifice health to boost her attacks and movement (physical or magical.) She can taunt to recover all health lost this way, as long as she was not struck by an opponent between the attacks used and her taunt.

Weapons:

Luin: A long weapon that she mostly seems to summon up out of nowhere, a manifestation of her heritage. (Plus it'd be impractical to carry around.) It looks a bit like a revolver, a jousting lance, and a combat knife had a baby, and can shoot flames or short-ranged explosions out of the end; it's also paired with a shield.

Fragarach: A rather unusual sword carried at Brigitte's waist when not in use. More specifically, it is an oversized sword-breaker, the blade notched to allow for it to catch and shatter enemy weapons. Or, for the unfortunate, the enemies themselves; the guard is actually a pair of hydraulic pistons meant to provide the leverage to snap hardened demonic weapons, or hardened demons, between themselves and the catches on the blade.

Styles:

Amaterasu: A style focused on vertical motion and aerial superiority, allowing Brigitte to outmaneuver opponents more easily.

Susanooh: A method focused on grappling and counterstrikes, where Brigitte focuses on interrupting enemy attacks by chokeslamming them out of them.

Trigger: Angel Trigger

Brigitte's angelic heritage comes to the fore, modifying her appearance and most notably causing her to sprout a varying number of wings based on how STYLISH she is currently. It mostly boosts her mobility, while also making her even more durable.

Stats:

Durability: 5. Brigitte might not have inherited the full power of her angelic parent, but even if she can't outright resurrect after death, she can take an absurd amount of punishment and recover quickly; she has a remarkable ability to pull her own life energy back into herself.

Firepower: 1. Brigitte's no expert marksman, but does have some basic ability to fire a gun.

Strength: 2. Brigitte has always had an easy time staying fit and building muscle, but learning to channel her power has boosted her strength above what you'd expect from someone her size.

Magic: 1. Brigitte has some grasp of magic, but without utilizing her own lifeforce to boost her angelic energy output, she can't get much accomplished.

Skill: 1. Brigitte doesn't have much experience in combat; she's still learning the ins and outs and relies mostly on being incredibly hard to kill for the time being.

Backstory: Brigitte was born of a rather unusual union, of a fairly successful demon hunter and an angel with either surprisingly reasonable, or surprisingly low standards, depending on who one asked. It wasn't exactly practical for said angel to cart around a partially-human infant, thus Brigitte lived mostly with her father. Outside of an incident with a kidnapping that led to her younger half-sister being born and various tensions between the two growing up (as Brigitte's inbuilt tendency to PURGE THE UNCLEAN came to the fore and was dealt with), she lived a startlingly normal life, but did eventually find herself drawn to the family business as she aged. It was only natural that she came to the Tomb, of course; what else is a half-angel going to do with her life other than go put down demon invasions?

Ya Like Jazz?

Spoiler

Name: Samanthiel Anzarat

Age: 25

Sex: Male

Gender: Male

Species: Cybernetic ?% Angel

Appearance:

A somewhat shorter man with darker skin. His hair is blonde, almost white, and curly. At a glance his build seems to be mostly average, if not a bit skinny. Upon closer inspection one might notice that he has a cybernetic left eye, the color of which he can change on a whim, with his other eye being brown. Hidden beneath his pants his legs are actually mostly mechanical, created with the appearance of regular human legs which actually give him the ability to increase and decrease his height when he wants to. He typically wears tattered looking pants with all sorts of different T-shirts and various dark jackets, ranging from leather to cloth.

Personality:

Sam has affectionately been called something of a “party animal”. He loves to party and by extension; getting other people to party with him. Even if he can’t make them party with him, he loves to bring smiles to peoples faces, which he does through his music (or at least tries to, he sometimes gets lost in it).

Red Orb count: 500

Gimmick:

The Party Never Stops: Sam has a noticeable aura about him, most likely due to his genetic background combined with his cybernetics. This aura ramps up his Skill and Durability the more creatures he has under his complete control. Expending (i.e. they die or are used up in another way) the creatures under his control reverses this effect.

Weapons:

“Al”: A shield made of durable keytars that are overlaid on each other; all of them appear playable.

Flute-knife: It is a flute. That is also a knife.

Styles:

Shockwave Slider: Sam’s magical abilities allow him to create energy shockwaves, both to move himself around and to attack enemies and block attacks.

Life of the Party: Sam’s abilities allow him to control parts of demons, the weaker they are the more he can control, up to total control of the bodies of weaker demons.

Trigger:

Party Animal: Sam’s aura flares up, affecting any creatures under his control. It then mashes all of these parts together , creating a “Voltron”-esque suit of demon flesh around him. This suit increases his Strength and Durability far past what it normally is.

Stats:

Durability: 2   Much more of Sam’s internals have been replaced with machinery than his outward appearance may convey, increasing his durability far past a normal humans.

Firepower: 1   While Sam’s weapons themselves may not have the best range, he sometimes uses them as focal points for his powers.

Strength: 0   Despite having a fair amount of cybernetics, none of them increase Sam’s strength past what an average physically fit human is normally capable of.

Magic: 5   Sam’s magic ability is noticeable, even to those who themselves cannot use much if any magic. Essentially all of Sam’s fighting ability is derived from his magical prowess.

Skill: 2   While Sam’s cybernetics may not have increased his strength much, they did increase his speed and reaction timing, making him far more nimble than an average human.

Backstory:

Sam doesn’t actually remember why he started doing what he does (likely due to the fact he doesn’t even know where he got his cybernetic enhancements); that is, slaying demons and bringing joy to people’s hearts. Luckily for him slaying demons often makes people happy, even if they aren’t a fan of his music. He sees “the Tomb” as one of his biggest gigs yet and he is raring to go.

"Nice to meet you, I'm high."

Spoiler

Name: Vanessa Ardelean, “Bard”

Age: 153 (since his memories cut off, actual age unknown)

Sex: Female

Gender: Female

Species: Demon

Appearance: A tall woman with inhumanly pale skin. Has blood red eyes that dart about wildly. Short hair as black as night peeks out from under a dirty grey beanie, slightly longer on the left. Despite most definitely being malnourished, is quite healthy and filled out. An unfortunate distraction, as a faded red plaid shirt that is never buttoned is far from equipped to cover everything. Ragged blue jeans and mismatched black and red sneakers complete the outfit.

Personality: Observant but hyperactive, Bard absorbs details like a sponge, but can never seem to focus on them. He's difficult to communicate with effectively, and will often completely forget he's participating in a conversation with you. His lack of awareness often leads to nonsensical babbling and unintentional (most of the time) rudeness.

When given a clear task to focus on, Bard can become surprisingly competent. His instincts are very strong despite the failings of his conscious mind, and his hyper-alert state allows him to quickly find and solve problems.

On occasion, a more stable version of Bard’s personality will slip through, showing her to be capable of being very focused and calculating, but rarely will this last as the drugs once again overwhelm the fragile balance of his mind.

Red Orb count: 500

Gimmick: Snow White Blood

Bard is a specific sort of demon that many would refer to as a vampire, becoming much more powerful and sporting a wide range of vampiric abilities when drinking blood. However, he uses drugs to stave off his hunger for the blood of innocents, and hasn't drank any blood in decades. As such, he's been left with only a few of his vampiric abilities: Enhanced regeneration, enhanced speed, shapeshifting into a bat, and mind domination while maintaining eye contact.

Unfortunately, he also retains a vampires full suite of weaknesses: wooden stakes, being immersed in running water, and being decapitated will all kill him. While sunlight, garlic, and holy symbols will weaken him further than his lack of blood already has. In addition, if he ever sobers up, the extreme craving for blood will not be pretty, making it in everyone's best interest to keep him high.

Bard regenerates very quickly so long as he isn't exposed to sunlight. While at full health, he gains a boost to his Skill.

Weapons:

Type A

A red handgun that shoots silver bullets. It doesn't appear to be anything special, but Bard has had it longer than he can remember and he's never once had to repair it.

Lightning Shotgun

A shotgun that shoots a slew of short range energy bolts similar to a lightning strike. Though short ranged and largely uncontrollable, the bolts do home in on the nearest living target, making them capable of doing massive damage up close.

Styles:

Dance on the Clouds

A style focused on staying alive and far away from enemies. Bard relies on his speed to keep his distance while using Type A to pepper enemies with bullets, only going in with his shotgun when there is a completely safe opening.

Need a Hit, Just a Bit

Bard shifts to be much more aggressive, taking every opportunity he sees to rush enemies and blast them with his shotgun. He relies on his natural speed and regeneration for most of his defense, using Type A's unusual resilience to parry attacks in a pinch.

Trigger: Batshit Up the Fucking Belfry

Bard transforms into not just one bat, but dozens of bats. He can freely transfer his mind to any of them and change into his human form at that location, effectively allowing him to rapidly teleport around the battlefield, so long as he has a bat in place to teleport to. The effect ends when only one bat is left alive.

Stats: 10

Durability: 3

Firepower: 3

Strength: 1

Magic: 0

Skill: 3

Backstory: The first thing Bard remembers is withdrawal. There was something before that, definitely, but he couldn't tell you what it was. That withdrawal, however, is burned into his mind. The sheer agony as her body demanded blood was unbearable, there was almost nothing she wouldn't have done to escape it.

The second thing Bard remembers is the dealer. A charcoal messiah cloaked in tattoo bearing the fruit of life ground up into a fine white powder. Perhaps he had mistaken Bard's withdrawal for that of one of his clients. It didn't matter, Bard gratefully accepted the miracle. She breathed it in and breathed her last, her mind now fated to be eternally trapped by that snow white line.

Though he would love to be free again, the fear of the withdrawal keeps Bard returning to his powdery captor. He takes on dangerous jobs as a demon hunter in an effort to feed his expensive habit, or perhaps he simply craves the freedom of death, not even Bard himself knows the answer for sure.

Work in progress:

Spoiler

Name: Adeline Lughaidh

Age: 20

Sex: Female

Gender: Female

Species: Half-Demon

Appearance: Adeline is a shorter, although athletic, woman with wavy black hair going down her back, contrasting her very pale skin. She also has bright blue eyes, and some light freckles. Her preferred clothing is a black jacket and white tank top underneath it, and jeans that tend to end up somewhat damaged from combat, and silvery, metallic-looking gloves.

Adeline’s devil trigger is… well, a demonic looking version of her. Blackened skin with lava-like pulsing beneath it, dark bat-like wings, and more as she channels her demon half. While she is still easily recognizable, her eyes glow red. Her clothes change, turning into the same rocky-like substance as her skin.

Personality:

Adeline is a rather energetic young woman, to the point some think she’s younger than she actually is. Quick to try and make a friend, although sometimes her bluntness can get in the way of that. While quick witted, sometimes sheer stubborness gets in the way of acting on knowledge gained.

Red Orb count: 500.

Gimmick: Lifesteal - Adeline is capable of draining the life from foes to heal herself. To do this she needs to get them in a solid grab, which leaves herself vulnerable while she drains them.

 Weapons:

Clotho - A set of gauntlets that contain the soul of a demon defeated by Adeline’s dad. They are actually made of a supernatural metal thread wrapping around the hands. It lashes out as she attacks, amplifying the already notable damage of her fists and sometimes wrapping around foes to hold them in place.

Lachesis - A demon-possessed ballistic crossbow roughly the size of an average assault rifle, lighter than it looks. It fires silver bolts filled with demonic energy in order to damage demons, and has a variety of ammunition types.

Styles:

Brawler - A style for up close and personal beatdowns with demonic strength, focusing on pummeling enemies with stunning blows hard enough they can’t get a hit in.

Riposte - A style meant for more agile fighting, the idea being to either tank or dodge enemy strikes and then brutally punish them for their mistakes.

Trigger: Devil Trigger. Tapping into her demonic heritage, Adeline takes a demonic form. In this form, Adeline is much more durable and powerful, and seems to suck the life from foes with every strike.

Stats: The bread and butter to how your characters will be seen as. Each character starts off with 10 points to put in any of the five stats, and can put no more than 5 points in any one stat. Stats are able to be upgraded during the game, either by spending orbs or by acquiring hidden items.

Durability: 2 - Adelinde is notably more durable than your average human. Being that she’s half demon, this makes sense.

Firepower: 3 - Given her father was a human demon hunter, firearms were his weapon of choice - and something that Adeline learned to use with great skill and proficiency.

Strength: 3 - Adeline’s a half demon. She never asked specifically what Mom was, but apparently it was something violent. She is dramatically stronger than your average human. Being on the receiving end of her fists is not pleasant.

Magic: 1 - Adeline never really practiced tapping her demonic heritage. Dad didn’t know how to use it and trying kinda set off her sister. But the potential is there.

Skill: 2 - Adeline had some training from her father in demon hunting. While she mostly sticks to her instincts (“Break shit”, mostly) when it comes to combat, there’s an edge of trained skill to it that lets her attack accurately and be quick on her feet.

Backstory:

It turns out, sometimes humans, with enough training, grit, and luck, can make for very good demon hunters. David Lughaidh was one such demon hunter, and became fairly well known in the world of the supernatural for his skill and competence, his ability to get a job done. Naturally, this would lead the man to frequent encounters with certain others, denizens of the worlds above and below. And, well… humans do what humans do.

At first, it had only been with an angel, and only one - resulting in Adeline’s sister Brigitte. Now generally, one can be happy saying they’ve had… relations with an angel. David in fact was. But an angel was not all he’d caught the interest of. One time, during a mission, things went pear shaped. Things were bad. At the last minute, there was some surprising aid from a female demon, and David managed to walk away alive. Of course… this demon intended to exact a certain payment, even though her assistance had been undesired.

About a month later, David staggered back to civilization and tried to forget that mission had happened. About 8 more months later, there was a baby and a note that cannot be discussed in polite company. To make a long story short, there was a half-demon half-human on the doorstep of a demon hunter who already had a half-angel daughter. He wasn’t going to leave her there though.

Adeline, of course, is the half-demon that was on that doorstep, and is fairly glad her dad was such a stand up guy about it. It couldn’t have been easy raising her and her sister, what with her own propensity to break things, and Brigitte’s purging instinct (often directed at Adeline). Nevermind raising them without letting the secret out. But somehow, it was managed. Adeline has, at this point, managed to get her demon half mostly under control, and she and her sister aren’t at each other’s throats anymore. She’s quite protective of her in fact.

Part of this “getting under control” was a hobby to work out her violent tendencies in a healthy fashion. That hobby of course being the family business - demon hunting. Training from dad, supplemented by her own demonic attributes, let her get into the game much quicker than her father did. She balances the benefits of her heritage and the benefits of training, leveraging both to her advantage.

She and her sister are demon hunters. This city is literally called Hellscape - where else would they be?

Spoiler

Name: Rama

Age:  18

Sex: Male

Gender: Male

Species: Half-demon

Appearance: A white haired, red eyed young man in a black coat.
The back of the coat has thin lines of dull silver threads over the whole thing, creating an image of flames.

His signature weapons are arranged to add some color to his outfit, with his two large gold and silver fans placed at his waist so that the feathers fall behind him, and his two bow’s still strung pressed against one another on his back, so the arches point away from his center.

Personality:     Rama tries to present himself a mysterious badass when on the job, but usually can’t keep it up for long, be it because he gets distracted by the voices in his head and forgets to not speak out loud, or he gets carried away by the fun of it all and just ends up coming off as a nerd. Regardless his skills are very much real and there is nothing quite like the rush like showing off in the middle of a fight, so you can be sure he has your back.

Red Orb count: Every character starts with 500 Red Orbs.

Gimmick: Duel Wielding: The user has two of every weapon he owns and uses two at once. Allowing them to mix and match or wield two of the same weapon.

            Weapons: Shadow Bow, Heavenly Fan

“Reveris” Shadow Bow: A Powerful bow made of bone taken from a snake demon, And a rare, purple demonic metal. Rather than a solid string, the bow is perpetually strung by the power of the demon soul sealed inside it, and the metal. Forming a string made of tightly wound black fire.

The soul inside is actually Rama’s father, Who was grievously wounded and cursed to be unable to heal by the angel Briyante, and thus was used as a weapon ingredient to preserve his “Life” Because of this, the seal was left weak enough that he could appear in dreams and the minds of those who hold him, in order to maintain some interaction with people. He is actually pretty chill.

“Briyante” Heavenly Fan: A large fan made of Halo, and the silvery feathers of an angel, along with its soul. Despite the the fact that a huge chunk of its surface is soft feathers it is surprisingly useful in a meele. Its feathers becoming rigid and sharp as needed to block blow’s and attack.

The soul inside is actually the soul of the angel that cursed and killed Reveris who was locked away in this weapon after being defeated as revenge. The downside? The only seal Rama could get to work on this one was the same one he used for his dad. So now he has to hear it’s annoying voice in his head

            Styles:  Bowmaster, Mystic

Bowmaster: A style with a focus on the use of a bow. Allowing for great feats in its use and a wide array of techniques involving shooting a bow. Forget shooting apples off of a head, This madness should not be possible.

Mystic: A magical style with a focus on combining one's own magic with magic already present and manipulating it. This allows a user to harness the powers of magical weapons much more potently and even twist the powers of a weapon into new form to allow them to do things they otherwise could not.

            Trigger: Double Trouble

Double Trouble: The user taps into there demonic heritage, and creates a copy of themselves. Allowing him to be in multiple places at once, wield four weapons, and make a second action, or work with himself on one.

            Stats:

Durability: 0 (Like father, Like Son)

Firepower: 3 (That's a pretty good demon bow there.)

Strength: 0 (Need to start working out, bring out that demonic strength)

Magic: 4 (Uses magic weapons, and is also naturally magic)

Skill: 3 (You think using bows and a FAN is easy?)

Spoiler

Rama grew up in a small town known as Dusk Grove, with a reputation as being the one kid nobody wanted to mess with. When he was young a few older kids tried to pick on him, ending in them getting sent to the hospital. He may not have been the strongest around, but he always moved just right.

Sometimes to right. To smoothly, and with unnatural quiet.

See Rama’s dad was a Demon. A rather personable one, who spent most of his time blending in with humanity. But of course, demons are trouble magnets and Rama was far too magical to not notice. So long before anything could go wrong Rama was taught to use and control his powers. And later how to use weapons in case he was ever in danger.

By Day Rama went about like any ordinary child, and at night worked with his father on magic and combat. Of course Demons attract trouble, everyone wanted a piece of that demon out in Dusk Grove, so sometimes they got some rather useful bits to work with. Orbs and Horns and Scales.

One day shortly after Rama’s twelfth birthday a particularly nasty brute smashed up their house while Dad was out working and mom was out shopping.  Having been prepared for this Rama proceeded to deftly dodge the demon’s blows (Mostly) and not get smashed into paste or eaten. Defeating it after a long and tiring fight.

His father agreed that he should get himself a proper demon weapon after that, Rama having gone through no less than 20 knives, 3 pipes, and various kitchen equipment.

Up until this point Rama had mostly worked on various charms or weapons to be sold to other demon hunters, himself using only a demonic dagger (Which also broke in the fight) so by this point he was ready to build a real weapon.

Using a Strange metal from the body of the brute, a bone from a snake demon, Rama crafted a pair of identical bows, and ground Orbs into dust, he mixed that dust with water and let the bows soak for three days, and fed it some of his own power at sunrise and sunset.

On the third night he removed the bow, the water now having been totally drained of all blood and demonic power    . But soon he was faced with a problem.

Its shadowy cord was thin and flickering, the power he had infused it with insufficient. Rama looked all over the workshop. Turned over every crate. But he could not find a single soul which would do. Rama wanted perfection for this bow, he was not going to bind an unsuited soul to it.

Of course, he continued to use it in the meantime, nameless and empty as it was, but since he had to power it manually for every shot he easily became tired after using it. He wondered when he would find a good enough soul to use, and as his rotten luck would have it, he found it all to soon.

There was an attack one day, not unlike a demon’s attack, but also not the same at all.
This attacker called out in a pleasant and polite voice speaking plainly and without bite. And Rama hated it. Acting all calm and polite as it lashed out and trashed his home again. It showed neither a prideful joy at the fight, nor a drive or even a real reason for fighting. All it cared about was its arbitrary mission.

Unfortunately this being, the angel Briyante was able to afflict his father with a powerful curse and defeat him. Rama managed to slay the weakened angel, but despite his and his mothers best efforts, nothing they did could heal Reveris. The curse made sure of that.

As a last ditch effort to save him, Rama used his soul as the final ingredient in the shadow bows using a weak seal so he could still speak with them and interact with them in a limited fashion.

As revenge he butchered Briyante and took its soul, using its pieces to craft a pair of holy weapons and bound its soul into them.  Unfortunately he was not very used to working with angelic substances and had trouble properly sealing it...so now….

Well Briyante’s annoying voice aside, Rama took over on the whole, “Deal with local threats” thing, and the rest is history.

Wooooo finaly finished
