Chess is a immature battlefield and what way better to battle then the way we know best. The fastest victory is achieved by killing off the top leaders, like the king.

Spoiler

Mafia is a social deduction game which requires analyzing, cooperation, and looking through lies. There are two main factions in a mafia game: the Uninformed Majority [Town], who have to find others of their kind while hunting for the mafia, and the Informed Minority [Mafia], who have a private chat and plan there on how they should trick the town and whom they should kill.

At the beginning of the game, players receive a PM or a DM (in some cases) with their role and alignment.

There are two major phases in a Mafia game:

(1) The Day Phase – Typically lasting 48 hours , players use this opportunity to discuss about several things, which may include the outcome of the previous phases, behavior of players, and flow of the game; the ultimate goal in the day phase is for the Town players to find the Mafia slowly while Mafia players have to blend in carefully. Before the day ends, players must vote for a player whom they want to be eliminated on grounds of suspicion and the player receiving the most votes will be eliminated. (Or in this case, executed.)

(2) The Night Phase – Typically lasting 24 hours, the thread is considered “locked” at this point and players may not comment at all. Instead, players with night actions, special abilities related to their role, may use these to aid their faction. The Mafia also discusses in the private chat on whom to dispose of.

The game continues until one of the major factions attains their win condition or unless it is no longer possible.

How Chess works in general

Spoiler

Chess is a game where two equal sides play against each other. The goal is victory, and it’s achieved by killing the opposite color king. The sides are white and black, with white making the first move. Each side has 16 pieces. Pawns move one space forward at a time and can capture pieces directly forward diagonal to them. At the end of the board, when they can’t move anymore, they can be changed out for a more powerful piece. This is called promotion. Knights can hop over other pieces and move in an L pattern. Rooks travel in straight lines and bishops in diagonals. Queen imitate both a tool and bishop and Kong’s can go anywhere but only one square at a time. Each side has 2 Knights, bishops, and rooks.

How Chess Mafia works

Spoiler

A game Half v half where the goal is to kill the opposite colored king. The sides are black v white.

The roles

Spoiler

The pawns are the only pieces who don’t know who their king is.

Pawns: Vanilla townies except for the important and rotating duty of pawn promotion. See Pawn Promotion for details.

Bishops: This is your cop. Randomly, there report tells them either what piece their target it or their color.

Rook: This is your doctor. They can’t heal themselves

Knight: This is your gun and vest vendor. They give out a gun or vest very night. They can’t give themselves one. These vests protect from ANY kill attempt, lynchings included.

King: If this guy died, their side loses.

Queen: Shares a chat with the king. Can perform two kills over the course of the game It can also use the Rooks OR Bishops ability ONCE in the game.

Pawn Promotion

Spoiler

Pawns can promote/transform into the roles of captured/killed players. Half of the pawns on each side are able to try to promote at night. This promotion duty rotated every night.

Promoted pawns assume the identity and powers of the role they promoted into. Rooks, Bishops, and Knights can be promoted into twice, meaning a white knight can be promoted into twice, as can a black knight. Queens can only be promoted into once. Kings and pawns cannot be promoted into at all.

Promoting into a role belonging to the other color has a 50% chance of corrupting you and making you a member of their side. For example, if a white pawn tries to promote into a black knight and are successful then there is a 50% chance the pawn will become a black knight instead of a white knight.

A promoted knight, rook, or bishop will learn of their Kong’s identity, as will the Queen.

Queen promotions are different in that a promoted Queen gets only 1 kill and if the original Queen used their Rook/Bishop abillity, then the promoted Queen can only use the leftover one. Lastly, a Queen’s chat with the king is delayed by a day.

Night 0

The pieces shuffled on their tiles on the board, waiting for the deciding moment, the start of the game. With baited breath they waited anxiously, desiring to be moved a tile or more across the board, to serve their purpose. A kid rolled his eyes at the dramatic prose running through his head, staring at the old chessboard he had dug up in an antiques shop. The kid hadn't suspected the ancient game of kings, knights, and there armies was just... chess. He couldn't even return it. Lazily, he moved pieces across the board.

Night 0 has started. You have 48 hours to do your actions. Pawn Promotion will start at the end of Day 1.

Addendum to the rules: Players can have  a max of two vests at a time

Day 1

The opening move quite dull. Sure, one side had taken riskier actions then the other, but it was known to be impossible to take a piece on the first turn. That’s simply how Chess worked. The boy sighed and flicked a few pawns around, jumping them around the board in boredom. Four of them were a space or two away from the edge of the board and he considered sliding them there or off of it.

He neglected to do either, instead lining up his pieces in fun patterns.

Internally, each piece had a war of emotions. They were overjoyed at moving, at being used, but they kept being moved inoptimally. They were no where close to the target they wanted. The one pawn that was accidentally placed next to the king had had its turn cut too short to even be useful. It was frustrating, their mortal commanders lack of competence and their lack of freedom.

Day 1 lasts 48 hours. Have fun.
