The teacher turned around when Johnny approached him with a story about the male dorms. "Oh, don't worry! That's probably the Rotom that lives on these grounds. He likes to play pranks and can go a little overboard..."

The teacher was wrong.

But before anyone could go into further detail, all the speakers on campus came to live to spread a message:

"To all first years students; please gather at the Contest Hall where Professor Redwood will welcome you and your families personally. There he will explain how things like the Battle Points System works as well as how to obtain your second Pokémon. He will also inform you about the excursion to a Dragon Breeding Facility. The welcoming starts in 30 minutes!"

The woman repeated her message a couple of times before shutting the speakers down and heading towards the Contest Hall herself. She was in a hurry since Redwood had forgotten to prepare his speech so the task fell onto her. Again.

Arthur (Room 025)

Arthur woke up quickly ot the sound of the announcement, feeling as if he had gotten no rest at all. He looked down at his watch and realized that was because he had only been asleep five minutes. Arthur sighed and looked around for one of the speakers that was supposed to be alerting him as to what he should be doing. He heard the annoucement clearly the second time it came on.

"To all first years students; please gather at the Contest Hall where Professor Redwood will welcome you and your families personally. There he will explain how things like the Battle Points System works as well as how to obtain your second Pokémon. He will also inform you about the excursion to a Dragon Breeding Facility. "Well that does sound fairly important... No rest for the wicked, I guess, but I still can't figure out what I've done to justify this sort of treatment." Arthur looked over at Monica, who was resting soundly. "I might need her if there's a challenge of some kind to get my second Pokémon... but I also don't want to disturb her..." Arthur decided to gently shake her awake to get her permission to be put in her Pokéball. The sleepy bug nodded her approval sluggishly and then vanished in a wisp of red that retracted into the capsule. Lingering on the ball of such destructive power, Arthur whispered, "Sweet dreams," before putting the ball on his belt. He rose up and streched once more, then walked out into the hallway.

Maybe this time I'll actually have a sense of direction... he thought to himself

Johnny was about to tell the Teacher about how dire the situation truly was, but he was interrupted by the Announcement over the PA System. Johnny then spoke to Ignizelka.

"C'mon, girl, let's go to the Contest Hall. We don't want to be late on our first day, now do we?"

Ignizelka yipped confirmingly in response, and the Trainer-Pokemon Duo then headed to the Contest Hall.

((so yeah, been quite a long while for me and I never actually got a response as far as I could tell so... at this point I'm just gonna say screw it and try to get out of the whole dorm 002 scene and back into this in the least awkward and most plausible way I can think of...))

female dorms ((After everyone left))

Folie had only now realized his folly as he scanned the halls and empty entrance way all around him. Whoever had been shouting about parties looked to be long gone. He turned and checked behind him in dread as a girl's voice hurled more than a few choices words in French his way.

"Spin..." The panda wanted nothing more than to facepalm in that moment. He didn't know why he had ever thought it a good idea to use Fake Out on Maya back there in the room, but he had called down the wrath of god now, there was no mistaking it. It wasn't like he had meant to hurt her or anything- he'd held back of course; the shockwave had only created a minor... disorientation... but...

"Spindaaaaaaaaa...." He exhaled in frustration, hanging his head in defeat as her voice got closer. There was no point running- she'd only get angrier if he made a chase out of it, and an angry Maya was even more fearsome than an angry Erce in his experiences. He'd take Bullet Punches and getting tossed around by that Gale Shield technique of hers, anyday of the week to the girls withering, basilisk-like glare... that stare that pierced him right down to his soul, that he would see in his nightmares... that stare that-

His depressing thought train was cut short by a violent jerking on the back of his neck. For the third time in less than as many hours, the Spotted fool found himself held by the scruff of the neck... dangling in the air... face to face with Maya. Face to face with... that stare.

They held there for a few moments. In silence. A Silence that did little more than trouble Follie's apprehension even more.

Then Maya finally looked like she was about to go off... only to be cut off by what had to be the sweetest, most life saving announcement folie had ever heard:

"To all first years students; please gather at the Contest Hall where Professor Redwood will welcome you and your families personally. There he will explain how things like the Battle Points System works as well as how to obtain your second Pokémon. He will also inform you about the excursion to a Dragon Breeding Facility. The welcoming starts in 30 minutes!"

He would've leapt for joy if he hadn't been suspended a good five feet or so off the ground. The Kalosian's annoyance seemed to shift more towards the shift in events than him... or so he thought.

"I don't know what new level of insanity you've achieved in just the few hours or so since we've been here..." She began, whispering harshly in his face and still scowling that scowl that could've melted the scales off a dragon. "but you must've completely lost your mind back there with that little stunt. You get nothing but Energy Powder and Water tonight... and that's if I decide to even let you out before morning. I'm not putting up with this type of crap from you, so: Get. Your shit. Together." Yup, he knew it; He had definitely messed beyond measure this time.

Hell, Folie was even starting to feel a pang of guilt in his gut... it honestly wasn't like he would ever do something to intentionally hurt Maya, not at all, never. But... the boredom, it had just...just gotten to him in there. It was genuine cabin fever, honest; just a case of going a bit Stir Crazy; he didn't mean to lash out like he had.

"Spin-"

A familiar and bright beam of crimson sucked him into the ball before even the first syllable of the frantic apology got out. Maya stowed his sphere and headed out of the doors towards the contest hall. Chances her roommate would likely be left there wondering what the hell had happened with Folie just running away and her chasing after him into the lobby, but... she didn't really care at the moment to be honest. She simply wanted to slap some sense into the panda. That and for her ears to stop ringing...

Kage huffed in irritation at the message. He'd just wanted a moment to settle into his room, feel out the layout, that sort of thing. He'd probably have to tell his roommate eventually, but for now he wanted to make sure whoever it was wasn't the type to go blabbing to the teachers. On that note, he jumped slightly as Lucas gave him a very belated notification that said roommate was, in fact, in the room. "Oh, hey," he said, with a half-assed wave in the other boy's general direction.

Emberly scooped up the little pup from the floor. "Okay Whisper, it's time to put you in your ball for a bit. I don't want you to get scared with all those people around and light something on fire by accident. I'm pretty sure the facility wouldn't be too happy with that if it happened." She touched the ball ever so slightly to the pup's nose. She always allowed Whisper the choice to go back in her ball or not. She didn't really want to force it on her, so she always held the ball right in front of her nose allowing Whisper to choose whether or not to push the button. Whisper looked down at the floor, which indicated that she wanted to stay outside of it. "Oh? You're going to be brave today?" Drake said a sly smile on her face. "Well, you best be on your best behavior, no fire you hear?" Drake said in a silly tone. Clearly she was joking around with the little dog. She pet her head as she put away the Pokeball. She then hoisted her back off the bed where she had sat her down back into her arms again.

"Come on cute stuff, we got places to be, and people to met. Hopefully you don't singe these ones." She headed toward the Contest Hall, the place the meeting was. She didn't really think to stop to check on her roomate, and figured that Addy would find her way there eventually. She wasn't worried.

Crescent cocked his head to the side at the slight jump that expressed the boy's shock and how belated the answer to his appearance was but put that in the back of his mind, the kid probably wasn't paying attention. The message that had been spoken a minute prior however, meant that James was probably coming back to the room, waiting here was getting boring, especially after the commotion under which he tried to sleep faded away. Though the part about getting a second pokemon intrigued him...

James stopped for a few moment once the message had finished echoing through the dorms, while he had heard about the special Dragon Breeding Facility, he didn't think they'd be taking a trip there, this soon. Interesting. After he finished mulling over it, he walked to his own room and noticed the door was already open, was his roommate there now? He walked into the room seeing the brown haired boy with the Ralts on his shoulder standing at the front with Crescent staring at the boy. "So you're my roommate huh....."

As the commotion in the dorms left as unexpectedly as it arrived Sim couldn't help but be a little irritated. "Looks like something was just messing with us after all" Sim scolded himself. The ghosts had him cowering in fear, Sim was glad no one saw him overreacting like that. Shaking off the scare he listened intently to the announcement.

Though irritated he never ended up being able to get set up in his room or meet his roommate Sim was however back in good spirits. The assembly was bound to help things make more sense and mention of a second pokemon can't help but be exciting. Sim started backtracking towards the entrance of the dorms hoping to meet up with Johnny and Lucas.

Though the rotom was just pranking the new students Sim couldn't shake a feeling of unease. Everything seemed so real that it being a joke felt wrong, Vanish seemed to pick up on Sims feelings but didn't seem worried. "You've always been too carefree" Sim muttered to Vanish as he picked up his walking speed. Sim knew that he would spend a lot of time in the dorms so he hoped the feeling would pass. He arrived back at the dorms entrance happy to see that not everyone had left for the contest hall yet. Sim jogged towards the door, he was curios to see how what everyone else thought of that whole rotom ordeal.

Judging by the amount of guys in the building it was most likely the male dorm, though something seemed off about the place. Some of the guys seemed uneasy or frightened. Could something have happened while he was at the female dorm? Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. Inigo would be a bit disappointed if something had happened here, might've been more entertaining. Either way, Wolt was tired of lugging his bags around and proceeded to his dorm room, 029. But as soon as he inserted the card to unlock his door an announcement came on.

"Well, so much for choosing beds before the meet up." He sighed before he turned to Claude "Looks like we best just leave our bags and go." Wolt then finished opening the door, placing his bags inside near the door. "Ok Mr. Best Coordinator, mind leading the way?" He said sarcastically to the guy.

Mie had realized that the conversation and the events around her had moved away from her at some point so she figured there was no point in staying and watching. She picked up her Vulpix in her arms and took it back with her to her room so she could finish unpacking.

As soon as she made it back into the dorm room, she put Kagari on the bed to allow it to rest while she finished unpacking whatever she didn't finish unpacking and organizing already. With everything finally put into its proper place, she finally lay back on the bed and pet the Vulpix who was curled up and taking a nap next to the pillow.

Of course, the brief silence was eventually interrupted by the resounding of an announcement.

"Hmm…It's time to go, Kagari." Mie said before getting up off the bed and catching Kagari in her arms. She made her way out of the dorm room and headed in the general direction of the Contest Hall.

Lucas finished unpacking some of his stuff before leaving the room and heading towards the exit. Everything would have been more clear after that meeting. Grimace, of course, was following his trainer. Unlike some minutes before, everything was going well, aside from some students that were still looking uneasy in the building.

It was at that moment that Lucas noticed Sim, who remained inside of the dorms during the ghosts' "prank", while the other trainers had the opportunity to leave the place. "There you are!" the black haired trainer exclaimed, while approaching his peer. "Are you alright now? The ghosts are finally gone."

Robert sighed in relief after the 'ghostly presence' seemed to fade, fear being replaced by confusion. Was there a reason that it just ended so quickly? While unsettling, seeing others head back in put some ease in his mind. With a deep breath he went in, Kiai in tow as the Riolu still kept a watchful eye as they walked through the dorm. Eventually they made it to the dorm room that the key's number read. "Hmm, guess this is ours then." With a slide of the keycard he opened the door, getting a short glimpse before the announcement started.

Robert's attention was caught fully by the announcement, nodding to himself one it started repeating. "Welp, guess unpacking will have to wait. Let's just hope it'll be a positive experience now." Robert lightly chuckled as he set his backpack down in a chair and went back out of the dorm room, Kiai staying in the room longer in an attempt to check the room for anything bad. "Come on Kiai, you can check whatever when we get back, okay?" While a bit apprehensive the Riolu nodded back, doing one final look before following Robert out with the contest hall as the goal.

Claude was silent for once, in anticipation of the speech to come. This was the real start, paperwork and bureaucracy behind him. Here they would all start learning how to be better than the best, better than themselves.

Claude nodded to Wolt, leading the way to their destination to see most people had already arrived. Claude eyes skimmed the students faces, picking out those he was already acquainted with and those he was not.

"Well Wolt, let's enjoy our last moments of medicority."

"hehe, this guy is crazy.." Toshiro released a small chuckle after reading a line from his pocket book. The boy continues to indulge himself reading while walking at the same time as Midori guides him along the way. The leafy frog Pokemon looks out for Toshiro. She makes sure that his master doesn't bump into things while he's busy getting lost in his own little world. "Bulbasaur!" The seed Pokemon cries out as it notices something. Midori stretches out a vine and repeatedly tugs Toshiro's jeans as it tries to get its master's attention.

"Oh, what is it Midori?" Toshiro stops walking and finally notice Midori's concern. "Bul-basaur!" Midori points out the labelled door '118' with its vine-like tentacles.

"118? wait a minute, this our room! and to think I almost went pass it, thanks, Midori. what will I ever do without you?" Toshiro released a hearty chuckle after realizing his dorm room was right under his nose.

"Welp let's make some new friends..." just when Toshiro was about to swipe his card, the announcement pops out.

"Oh, dear, I guess we should prioritize that first, welp we better get going Midori. Don't want to keep the professor waiting." Toshiro said with a smile on his face and went back reading his book once again. The boy and his Pokemon casually strolls down the building as they make their way towards the direction of the Contest hall.

Citrine heard the announcement over the speaker about the speech. She saw quite a few students heading towards a nearby building and figured that's where she needed to go. Normally, she'd skip out on these boring things, but she'd never hear the end of it from Henry is she got in trouble on the first day. She simply went with the crowd for once in her life. Rosie followed close behind trying not to get trampled. There was one thing on her mind. Something said over the intercom really seemed to bother Citrine, but she couldn't quite figure it out.

The Contest Hall turned out to be a giant theatre in an octagon shape. Eights massive white pillars supported a massive dark blue roof. The doors also shared the same color. Inside was a small entry room with a red and golden carpet. The brown doors leading to the main stage were open and showed a first glimpse. There was also a possibility to go left or right, both openings lead to even more doors and enabled swifter movement to the places on the outside. Next to both openings were staircases leading to the upper level.

The hall itself was decorated with paintings of coordinators and their Pokémon. A carpet with the same colors as the one in the entry area was lying between the rows of comfortable, leather seats and the stage was covered by massive golden curtains.

The audience was separated into three main areas that were each divided into three layers; one close to the stage, one in the middle and one on the upper floor. If one looked from the stage to the audience, they could see 9 different areas being filled with people. And on that stage were currently two man talking. One of them was a giant man in a suit. His short red hair, small beard and muscular build made him stand out even more. The other one was a bit smaller, but still tall, with slicked black hair and wearing a labcoat. The man in the suit nodded to the other one and disappeared from sight. A lot of people started to make dissatifying noises as they hoped to get to meet the Elite Four Member.

Instead Professor Redwood walked over to the microphone, spread his arms wide open and smiled to the gathered audience. “Welcome to Ymora Academy! I know all of you new students wish to explore the grounds, but I'm afraid I need to take some of your time for some important information. I really need to explain how our Battle Point System works as well as how to obtain a second Pokémon and, for those that are interested, dragon types.

As he was talking, Redwood put his hand in one of his pockets and grabbed his own Pokédex. “I'll start with this little thing. This is not any ordinary Pokédex. Sure, it registers how many Pokémon you've seen and caught and even the known movesets of your own Pokémon if you wish to use that application. However there is one more thing. For those that haven't done this yet, do it together with me. Take your student card and place it in the card reader at the side of your Pokédex. Your information should appear on the screen. That's your trainer ID that will be used when you challenge the Pokémon League or participate in Contests after you've graduated from here. You can also see one extra feature in the top left corner of your screen. It's right next to your name. That Pokédollar sign is the amount of Battle Point, or BP, you have. You can only use those while you're in the Academy and everyone starts with 100 points. You can also access that information by just clicking on your name just in case it's hard to read or something.”

Redwood put away his own Pokédex and continued. “You can earn BP by winning Academy battles, keeping your grades up or bet them in a friendly match against other students. Just link your Pokédex with your opponent, go to your BP screen and fill in the amount of BP you want to bet. Your Pokédex will automatically scan the health of all Pokémon involved in the battle so there is no way to cheat. Consider this a way to learn how to use your money well. Because as some of you may know this system was used a lot back in the old days to earn money in a fair way. Some people still use this method even though it became illegal, but that's a story for another time. I already said how you can win points so you can obviously lose points as well. If your grades drop or you fail particular tasks, by betting against other students or if you sign up for an Academy tournament. All tournaments will require a certain amount of BP before you can participate. Starting tomorrow the Academy's Shop will open. It's right next to the cafetaria and you can find everything in there: healing items, berries, food for Pokémon and trainer, clothes, accessories and a lot more. If you want to buy something from the shop or the cafetaria, you have to pay with BP. So it's important to make sure to keep a healthy amount of BP around.”

The Professor looked at the crowd for a few moments and knew there were probably students who had no idea what he just said. “Are there any questions related to the Battle Point System?”

"There you are!" the black haired trainer exclaimed, while approaching his peer. "Are you alright now? The ghosts are finally gone."

"I'm fine, I couldn't find anyone so it's a good thing everything blew over. I would have done a pretty terrible job otherwise." Sim added with a grimace. "Should we head towards the contest hall for Redwoods announcement?" Sim asked the other trainer. Lucas agreed and the two headed towards the contest hall.

Sim and Lucas made it with plenty of time to spare and found a seat within the masses. Sim sat with Vanish in complete silence determined not to miss any details hot to miss any details. The battle points system sounded like a lot of fun, it seemed the more talented of a battler here the easier things would be. That would also apply to more than just battles. Sim turned towards Lucas wondering what he was thinking but couldn't tell what he was thinking. Sim had around one thousand questions and a half but found it would be better to wait and see if the other questions asked would provide enough information.

Johnny and Ignizelka had made it with plenty of time to spare, and Johnny had found a seat before Professor Redwood began his speech. Once Redwood mentioned Pokédexes, Johnny realized that he hadn't even used his yet, and pulled it out, muting it for the sake of the others in the Contest Hall. Then he did as redwood did, and slid his Card through the Reader, continuing to keep an ear out to listen to Redwood as he did so. The Trainer Profile popped up on the touch-sensitive screen in Text.

Name:Jonathan Carbocas

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Program: Breeder

Balance: 100

Team: Unregistered

He looked a little puzzled at that last bit, but then realized that he hadn't scanned in his Partner, which he promptly did. When he did so, he was asked to enter the Nickname of the Pokemon, a message, a text field, and a small keyboard popping up onscreen.

Please Enter the Pokemon's Nickname:

He entered his Pokemon's name, and then hit Enter.

Team Member Registry Complete!

The Team Profile then popped up onscreen.

Team Member 1:

  • Name: Ignizelka
  • Species: Fennekin
  • Gender: Female
  • Ability: Blaze
  • Level: 8
  • Knows: Ember, Scratch, Tail Whip, Hypnosis

Johnny then put away his Pokédex, sat back, and waited for Redwood to continue, having too many questions to ask any.

Contest Hall

The two trainers arrived early and found some seats; after a while, what could be referred to as an introduction speech began, without any significant delay.

Lucas listened quietly, trying to understand everything Professor Redwood said. As he didn't do that before, Lucas put his card in the Pokedex making his information appear on the device's screen. He also registered his Pokemon Grimace and checked his BP amount.

Lucas didn't have any question to ask in the first place and seemed to have understood all of the important information. Some students were talking by themselves and others were just waiting for the next topic, which likely almost everyone was finding more appealing. Only after a while, Lucas came up with a question, regarding what was more like a small detail: "Excuse me, Professor, how do I link my Pokedex to someone else's one?"

Sim was sitting beside him without saying anything, but most likely thinking about what had been just explained.

Lucas found the BP system fairly interesting, to say the truth: it was kind of an added reason for the students to do the best they could, both in lessons and during battles, and the Pokedex's added functions were also something nice to have. This new system was overall rather good, in Lucas' opinion.

Claude waited. And waited. And waited. When no question was put forth and Redwood continued to wait patiently, Claude found himself quite impatient. It was terrible of him but a drop of impatience is quite volatile when mixed with something as reactive as anxiety.

"I have a question sir, what's the next part of the speech?" He called from where he stood, tingling nerves rippling along his arms, leaving goosebumps in their wake as he felt eyes inevitably fall on him.

Toshiro can hardly contain himself from the sudden reaction at the back and laughed softly. He finds it quite amusing as the impatient young boy assert himself from the distance, i'm sure that's what this entire class is thinking at the moment. Toshiro's chuckle was quite audible from all of the silent inside this hall as he quickly cover his mouth and tries to restrain himself from giggling. He regains his composure just before anyone can notice.

Toshiro sits there like a behave freshman with a smile on his lips as he awaits on what the professor has to say about this.

Kage had made his way to the hall as quickly as possible, taking a seat near the back of the room. Lucas was perched on his shoulder as usual, looking down at his trainer's lap with interest and focus as he pulled the Pokedex out from his pocket and did the same with his ID. He followed Redwood's instruction somewhat clumsily, having to feel about for where the reader was actually located before placing his card in it. He sighed with irritation as the professor's speech continued. Great, I'm gonna be tethered to this piece of shit. Could have just used cash to pay for crap, but no, everything's gotta be digital. He shoved the accursed device back into his pocket with a rather undue amount of force, and then angled his head back toward Redwood, irritation clearly showing on his face.

Contest Hall, shortly before Redwood's Speech

Arthur quickly found a seat in the Contest Hall and actually managed to be one of the first to sit down and wait for the show to begin. Maybe today isn't all bad... he thought to himself. The people spilling into the contest hall were certainly loud as they chatted with others in the crowd, but it was still nothing compared to the terrifying ruckus that he had experienced earlier. Haunting, clamoring sounds echoed in his skull, threatning to drive him mad at the mere memory of them and the feats that they had accompanied them.

"Now now, it's only the first day. No need to go insane yet..." Arthur muttered to himself with a smile, only to look to his right and realize a passing student had overheard him and was starting at him, somewhat confused. Startled, Arthur stumbled to justify his muttering. "Um... uh.... That was just me reciting a line from my favorite book. Reminds me of home, ya know?" The other student snickered and said something under her breath that had something to do with "newbies" as she walked away.

Relieved at the crisis averted, Arthur decided to shift his focus to the Contest Hall to get his mind off of the spectral events he had experienced earlier. He looked around at the massive room, gazing at the seemingly massive room with a blend of awe and nervousness. The stage seemed to call to Arthur, although he knew this would be a terrible time to try to preform for multiple reason. For one, it was about to be time for the good Professor to give his introductory speech. For another, both he and Monica were exausted from the stress of the the first day and all the unexpected terrors it brought. "Another day, Arthur. Another day." Still, he was tempted to do something to improve how others were seeing him so far. Only a couple hours in and already he was wishing he could try to restart from the top. But deep down, Arthur knew that it would probably be futile and he would likely end up screwing up again, although in new and different ways this time. Furthermore, he would only get one shot to succeed on the stage in a Contest, too. If he screwed up, he couldn't just say "Wait I'm tired, can I try again?" It was either you reach the goal or you are the one being trampled over by those who are.

Just think of it as a little "life experience," Artie.

And with that, it seemed all the other students and staff had settled into their positions and the festivites were about to being. A man in a labcoat with black hair, who Arthur assumed was the esteemed Professor Redwood, began to speak on stage.

"Welcome to Ymora Academy! I know all of you new students wish to explore the grounds, but I'm afraid I need to take some of your time for some important information. I really need to explain how our Battle Point System works..."

Arthur intently listened and tried his best to hold onto all the information coming to him. Everything seemed to be happening so fast. He could get a Dragon type? I thought those were reserved for the most skilled... Why the hell would he offer them to new students? Still, Arthur assumed that a man as renowned as Prof. Redwood would know what he was doing, so he resolved to keep listening until the very end.

"Are there any questions related to the Battle Point System?"

Apart from the gentle murmuring of some students talking to those beside them, no one answered. Arthur quietly powered up his Pokédex and registered both Monica and himself. The silence continued to grow uncomfortably longer as the Professor politely waited in case anyone was simply nervous until eventually one boy apparently decided he could no longer take it.

"I have a question, sir, what's the next part of the speech?" It seemed the boy spoke the minds of all his fellow students, as the silence was then popped like a bubble and Arthur couldn't help but chuckle lightly to himself. Thank goodness someone said it.

Maya sat towards the back of the hall, arms crossed as she listeed to the first few parts of the Headmaster's speech. An empty seat sat to either side of her in the amphitheater, the fellow freshman also seated nearby area having steered clear of it once they caught a passing glance of that lingering, peircing glare in her eyes, though it was nothing more than a mere trace compared to what Folie had gotten earlier. Actually... speaking of the little mental patient, she still had to register him.

She took out her student ID and Folie's capsule while the others murmured on about information being provided upstage, sliding the piece of identification ito the reader before immediately swiping over to the team data tab. Her fingers halted over the onscreen keyboard and text-field after she had entered the name however. She really wasn't in the mood to go entering all his information... it would only annoy her all over again. Actually, wait... hadn't Caid told her something a long time ago...

Her fingers moved away from the text field, instead searching the rest of the screen for anything that might indicate the option she was looking for. "found it." She thought after a few more seconds. She tapped the prompt button she'd been looking for with a single swipe, holding up Folie's ball in front of the device. Not even a moment later, his full status came up on the screen, ability and moves and all, writing itself into the memory. "well, it works..."

Without a word, she put both devices away, turning her attention back to the paused presentation as some rather portly lad stood up and asked a question in the distance. Hearing the actual content of the inquiry though, she honestly couldn't tell whether he was genuinely curious, bored beyond wits, or just trying to become the class smart-ass before anyone else could...

((And yes, the whole pokeball scanning thing is possible. Paul once did it in the anime on the pokeball of a Stantler he had just caught...))

As instructed Robert had gladly pulled out his Pokedex and student card from his pocket, placing the later in the card reader and being met with information. Sure enough it had it all, name, Trainer ID, and the important 100 BP to start off with. The BP itself seemed to make the most sense in the way that successes and responsibility all had a solid reward to them. And this all was just the first parts of the speech, and as such Robert kept his ears open for the rest.

Kiai however was just focused on the battle-part of the speech. After all, apart from the food it seemed the battles were the one thing that he himself would need to worry about so far, and with his focus solely on the battles the promise of challenges and even tournaments brought a spark to the Riolu's eyes.
