    you know for a while my todo list got up to like 5000 lines. but that's what i get, i suppose

     

    my side of the function code crawl is done, which is basically just writing out the logic for our 120 function codes that we've selected as this episode's lucky winners. for the most part these are common moves like status, set up, recover, etc... plus certain things i know gym leaders use. so i'm hoping for high mileage with these. they've all been written out and now marcello is just finishing up putting them into the script properly.

    meanwhile it's up to me to tie up loose ends in the misc update category, which is nearly entirely limited to bug fixing by now. historically that does not take very long, but i also have not gone through the forum for bugs basically all episode, so i will be doing that over the next week.

     

    we'll then start testing. we're doing it a bit different than we have in the past, so i'll go over how it's structured this time to inform newcomers and illustrate changes.

    in the past our test sequence has been

    ...where the supervised test is one where one person (hi ikaru) plays through the episode and all with me watching so i can closely see any problems with how it plays or things that need to be tweaked. this has just been called alpha in the past. the beta has been done by ace members, community is a release available to all forum members, and the public release is open to everyone finally.

     

    unfortunately many bugs have still passed to the community and public releases despite this. that's because we would find bugs in beta or community, and then take a pass at fixing them, but sometimes that fix fails or breaks something else, and we dont find out until the public release because all the testers had already played the originally broken version. for this reason starting this time, we'll have more waves than before:

    i just mentioned the supervised testing was considered alpha before, but we're now calling it that. instead the alpha testing will be done by the supporter group here on the forums privately. internal testing likewise will be done by the dev team as a whole amongst ourselves. we didnt do this before due to having a smaller, more inconsistent group, although it somewhat happened less formally anyway. my hope is that taking it through these different waves will give us plenty of time to fix as many bugs as possible. of course there are some things that just won't statistically present themselves until swarmed with a certain number of new players, so it's not as if we can promise a bug-free release. i ask for your understanding as always.

     

    in order to compensate for the increased number of waves, i'll be shortening the time of each one as well. in the past the beta and community tests have not had a fixed timeframe, but usually ended up being around two weeks each. with more waves now, i'll be limiting each one to a single week so that we can move through it in a similar amount of time. the supervised test should not require a week anyway... anyway, this all means that if there are no especially time-consuming problems, the episode will publicly release four weeks after the internal testing begins. 

     

    since we are reaching this stage, it also means this will be my final post here for this episode.  from here on out, i hope you can wait for it patiently. although the story content of the episode will be somewhat light, there is plenty to explore, and especially with 7th gen being added there are many new pokemon to catch too. in fact, as of the end of E17 only six non-legendary lines are still unavailable. and as for legendaries... maybe you'll even get some action with them too.

    I appreciate the team's dedication to thoroughly polishing the game.

     

    Honestly wish games from triple A developers had the same amount of investment put into them so they come out bug-free. *COUGH* Rainbow Six: Siege *COUGH* UBISOFT *COUGH*

    I'll patiently wait for this episode, I will enjoy a new play through to experience all the hard work that went into making it. Ame and team, good work on episode 17, thanks for an upcoming awesome piece of work.

    Legendary action eh? could mean a few different things, but that's exciting either way. with only 6 lines left unobtainable, maybe we'll get rock climb this episode and the things gated behind that? I wonder if mega or z rings will be available yet.... but if some gym leaders have Z-moves now that should be interesting.

     

    might even get a new release of reborn for my birthday, which is 2 months from today in my timezone, so that would be an amazing present =)

     

    Is there another batch of move animations in this episode or are they coming later?

    Hey Amethsty, it's good to hear that it's all soon done, but will we still receive updates through the text that is on the right side? Otherwise I will really miss opening this page just watching the percentages go up and reading the small updates.

    Also, will any of the old pokemon events change? (Teddiursa hide and seek, Numel by the water or anything of this sort of event pokemon).

    I wonder if there is a Landorus in Tourmaline desert or Tekinite Mountains and then comes Julia with her mirror (which is actually a Reveal Glass) talking to us and trying to comb her hair (with her usual Ame-like hyperactiveness) and Landorus looks through it and transforms into its Therian forme. O god, a grt story this is.

    And as for the status update, 

    Supervised Testing, Day 1: on the floor crying laughter within 15 minutes of starting testing because what the FUCK LOL

    You guys will do waaaaaaaay better than us who have to start grinding and EV-training our mons. So, you guys are actually grt so far and even in the future.

    I would think, logically we'd get Rock Climb this episode, it would be a logical way to bridge the large-ish number of lines we still have, especially since most of these guys I can't picture in the desert (texted orange) but absolutely could be in the other places in the region requiring Rock Climb. I suppose Deino, Axew, Dratini, and three more could be the ONLY things requiring RC and everything else is obtainable otherwise, but I guess we'll see. 

     

    Though I think most of Gen 7 is gonna get in this episode, maaaaybe Kommo'o won't?? It's one of the worst pseudos and we have Beldum so I think it likely will make the cut, but who knows.

     

    I would think the trend of holding off mons like A-Marowak might continue, but I doubt that would matter since there's definitely at least 6 lines better than it. Plus, if we have ONE way to evolve the other Alola Mon's and we have Cubone already, it would be unlikely.

    IIRC there's a dark green egg-like object on Route 3 which (correct me if I'm wrong) I believe might be Axew's egg. So yes, we're probably getting that post-Rock Climb.

     

    Also, a lot of those lines (Shroomish, Azurill, Larvesta, Axew) are already obtainable via Mystery Egg.

    I'm aware, still doesn't discount the fact they're all gonna be available in one file at some point, and thus, available (in a 100% of the time way) during the main story.

    The development of the episode is done, but there are many stages of testing. Supervised and internal are both done now, and we are currently on alpha. After alpha there is beta testing, and after that is when the community release will be.

     

    And Ame has been updating the obtainable pokemon list on the site with a few mons daily, just so we can slowly but surely all see what stuff was added and so on.

    There are no 'extra additions', as it were, all content is done, as said of being at 100%. We're just going through testing to polish things up. After all, would you rather a buggy mess now, or a polished product in some time? I think most people would rather the latter, and it's definitely what we'd rather put out.

    Well, it's really nothing if you think about the whole development time! And I'd rather wait a few more weeks to play a stable game than being unable to enjoy it because it crashes or because you can live wild and unexpected adventures skipping parts of the story... XD (I'm looking at you, episode 12).

     

    Let's just wait a little more and then we will enjoy it even more. And thanks to all the developers and testers for the hard work!! Keep it up!! ;)

    I didn't think of it that way, since I've never spent a moment seeing how close reborn is to update. I know how buggy an update can be (pokemon rejuvenation v9)

    IDK if this is the right place to post. I'm new to forums. Anyway and out of curiosity, i looked at the files and found that azumarill learns water gun instead of bubble at level 7. Also, despite not being obtainable yet, Celesteela stats are 97,101,103,107,101,61 and should be 97,101,103,61,107,101.

    in pokémon essentials  ,for some reason instead of going HP,Attack,Defense,Sp. Attack,Sp. Defense,Speed like everywhere else. It goes HP,Attack,Defense,Speed,Sp.Attack,Sp.Defense. Don't worry ,it's a common mistake that almost everyone makes.

    I know about the format. It's still incorrect. Celesteela stats were written as SpAtk, SpDef, Speed (107,101,61) and they should be Speed, SpAtk, SpDef (61,107,101), like every pokemon in the file.
