Being called ''them/they''

As the title suggests, people in the game refer to me as '' them/they''  now is this like Reborn where there is a glitch where they don't take account into your gender or is it intentional? Pretty sure i picked Boy at the beginning.

If i am right there is no variable for boy/girl. To better explain it for example when the player calls himself Ren and when the player gets called by his name there is a variable (or how you call it) /pn which gets replaced by the players name. But there isn't one for boy or girl.
