Can you change your player name?

Well, the easiest way to change the PC's name is to use the debug menu, which is accessible when you play the game in debug mode via RPGmaker. Since you posted in this section, I'm assuming that you're also interested in possible mods that would allow such options; apparently, part of Aironfaar's mod package does just that.

I haven't tested it myself but it seems that it enables the use of the debug menu, which is basically what playing the game in debug mode does. So the solution to your issue is pretty much the same either way.

Also, having tried changing my name in the past too, it's worth noting that your pokémon will retain your past player name as their OT, even after the change.

I hope this helps.

You are spot-on, my Debug Menu module allows you to change the player's name, but the pokémon will retain the past player name as OT.

However, you can make a pokémon your own using the same Debug Menu mod: If you access the Debug menu from the same menu you can open a pokémon's summary from, the Debug menu specific to that very pokémon opens. There, you can change its Ownership, among other things. The Ownership bit allows you to make a pokémon your own, i.e. it sets the OT to your details.

Also, while this bit of info is rather off-topic: Playing in Debug Mode does more than just granting access to the Debug Menu. One of these things is the ability to walk through walls while pressing and holding CTRL, which I released another module for upon request with the last update. I decided to leave those things out and create modules one by one when requested to avoid messing with the game on a bigger level than I'd know, because I have no idea how much Debug Mode truly influences.

Also, thanks for responding to this thread and pointing @Carrotcake towards my mod! :)
