Fates Festival Scramble

As far as I know - the child festival scramble DLC for Fire Emblem Fates was never localized, leaving people to translate the conversations between parents and auxiliary (or...not 100% of the time) children and share them via the internet.

These conversations sort of are the reward for the scramble maps, and projects a lot of different traits onto the children from their -other- parent. Some of these make for some real gold. Here are my favorites.

Oh, and if you want a master list of conversations. Here (some of them may not work) https://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?/topic/62128-child-scramble-convo-topic/

Rhajat (Mother: Nyx)

Spoiler

In the timeline where Corrin decides make their own side and discovers the Invisible Kingdom of Valla, Hayato has the potential to marry Nyx, who appears to be as young as he (which is good for optics) ... except is really a very old lady trapped in a child's body due to a curse (not good for those in know). Pairing these two "apparent" children together makes for the TRUE Tharja clone - a Magic-adept Rhajat with black hair and natural access to the Dark Mage class. This is one of my favorite pairings in any path.

In the Scramble conversation, Nyx is able to read Rhajat like a book as she inquires about what kind of dark spells her daughter is casting. Rhajat tries to play dumb, then coughs up that she's made a love spell. Nyx - who is not stupid at all - automatically proposes that Rhajat intends to use said love spell on Corrin to make them fall for her - which gets Rhajat flustered. As much as people don't like MC spotlighting in Fates -or- Awakening, Nyx ends up being the 'cool mom' who can kill your nefarious plans just by knowing exactly who you are as her child. It's a good one and I believe this is the life these two would have.

Shiro (Mother: Azura)

Spoiler

....to leave Azura unpaired long enough for Ryoma to be playable in Birthright -or- Revelation and THEN have to slog through pairing your songstress.....eugh......luckily this scramble conversation is worth it.

Azura is a savage....and an absolutely brutal teacher, which is kinda what Shiro needs for just about any subject given his dude-bro confidence. The jist of any Azura kid not named Shigure - is that they don't sing very well.

In this conversation, Shiro mutters over a singing competition poster and looks for a place to practice. The best singer in Hoshido runs into him, snatches the poster out of his grasp, and quickly discourages her son from competing...out of the goodness of her heart. It turns out that Shiro - unlike most kids - actually does improve as a vocalist. It's his songwriting that is just abysmal however - causing Azura to essentially ban him from joining the competition out of fear the Hoshidan royal family has a poor approval rating following the tune being sung in public. Shiro - ever competitive - decides to drop the contest in favor of a one on one sing-off with his mom. Azura pretty much assures him she's going to win - and then he remarks about being fired up and having to clear out the bandits.

As he fights, he starts singing his crappy song - which Azura swiftly shuts down with a terse "please fight seriously". He responds like a good soldier with a "yes ma'am."

Poor Shiro.

Midori (Mother: Camilla)

Spoiler

Camilla has some DOOZIES with these conversations.

This is one of my favorites though, because it retcons her support with Kaze, which is one of Camilla's best individual supports, eschewing her Corrin obsession for -actually- being attracted to Kaze via multiple tea parties she....kinda orders him to attend. Also, Midori is a funny kid.

The festival is somewhat attributed to wishes, and Camilla!Midori's enthusiastic wish is to be a sexy female, like her mother. Camilla (and the audience probably) finds this amusing, before talking about how likely it is that Midori -will- be an attractive woman not only because she is her mother (which is the point of these scrambles, to liken the kids to the other parent) but also because Kaze was also a very popular and attractive man. Here, Camilla talks about the tea parties, and then adds that Kaze still gets hit on by women the family doesn't know...hinting that she does get jealous and that usually isn't a good thing for the poor women in question.

Her expression here scares Midori, but then the child decides in order to get head start in being attractive like her mom, she needs to dress like her mom (which isn't a good idea...but...whatever...) Camilla, nothing if not consistent, agrees with her by saying it's a good idea.

Then Midori threatens the bandits, causing Camilla to laugh again.

Siegbert (Mother: Charlotte)

Spoiler

THE ONLY appropriate pairing for Xander in Conquest is to pair him with Charlotte - with Hinoka being a plausible pairing in Revelation that ...still kinda isn't as good as Charlotte. ...just let Xander marry Charlotte. Xander gets to hit things hard and....twice. Charlotte gets some defense and movement.....Siegbert gets his best hair color by far...it works out for everyone.

This conversation retcons her S-support conversation with Xander, where she respectfully asks her crown prince fiancee if she can have a moment before leaning out of a window and yelling "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" really loudly because in terms of the game this woman plays - she just won the friggin jackpot.

At the festival, mother's intuition kicks in and Charlotte is able to tell something's wrong with Siegbert - who asks her if she's ever nervous about being the future Queen of Nohr. Charlotte, who formerly was a border guard who's main concern was faking her personality to attract wealthy and influential men, is apparently not at all worried - which is actually kinda impressive to Siegbert -and- the reader.

Here, she coaches her highly esteemed son in the art of letting loose, by telling him to yell really loud and break tree branches - just as Charlotte would have done when she dropped her cutesy act prior to meeting Xander. Siegbert finds this impossible to do all the time but does see it as cathartic.

Best. Mom. Ever.

Shigure (Father: Laslow, a.k.a. Inigo from Awakening)

Spoiler

I knew AzuraXLaslow was THE ship. I knew it.

Shigure is caught by his father dancing - which embarrasses him. (man....that's oddly familiar, could this run in like...three generations or something.)

Inigo, as his mother Olivia would and as he did before Azura, owns having stage fright himself, before retconning his support chain with Azura and employing her advice that she gave him. Shigure is astonished that someone as confident as Laslow seems to be would also have stage fright, and this opens the door for some father-son coaching in the art of dance. Laslow muses that once Shigure can up his game by simultaneously dancing and singing, that his son's ability to pick up chicks will surely skyrocket.

Shigure tries to defer to not being interested in that sort of thing, but Laslow assures him that it's in his blood and that he'll start being interested in girls someday......then he asks if Shigure's heart dances when he sees a pretty girl..to which Shigure's facade falters and it turns out he's already had eyes for a woman himself. Laslow encourages this before Shigure makes a funny remark about wanting to paint a picture of the girl. ADDA KID.

Sophie (Mother: Selena, a.k.a Severa from Awakening)

Spoiler

This is yet another support I would say is a good one in Conquest. Silas is looking for speed and Severa delivers that, Severa would like some movement and defense and Silas delivers. Silas' secondary class is Mercenary, which allows Severa to pass down Sky Knight from her mother and enables you to have yet another potential pegasus in Conquest, which should have the lance rank since Sophie starts out as a Cavalier.

In this support, Sophie ends up being the jerk between her and her mother here.

Severa just wants to have a competitive game of ring toss, which Sophie agrees to, after defeating the bandits on the map. Selena then decides the pair should have a contest as to how many enemies they can defeat.

At this point, Sophie begins to become despondent. She mentions that it's more fun to rout bandits normally without making it a contest, to which Selena protests by claiming contests are always more entertaining. Sophie then drops the hammer on her mother by claiming Selena becomes too obstinate whenever she is competing. This of course floors Selena, who demands to know why her daughter thinks that.

Another retcon, this time to Selena and Silas' support chain, where Redhead Tsundere Queen demands Silas compete with her to find out who has the better work ethic in the army. It ends up being a tie after they race halfway 'round the world and end up being late for a march.

Selena demands to know who told Sophie that story, to which she retorts that it was obviously Silas, which causes Selena to be a little embarrassed. Seizing the opportunity as her mom is put down, Sophie concludes that this is why they should just have fun today and not compete. Sophie wins the argument.

Mitama (Mother: Effie)

Spoiler

This support, despite both Effie -and- Azama being very difficult to grind up a support with in Revelations....is beautiful. It's Azama's best support, and the resulting Mitama...is super interesting.

In the conversation, Mitama clearly isn't into the festival at all and wants to go home, which results in Effie chiding her to grow up and stop complaining before mentioning that she would just go to sleep and that she's just like her father. Mitama, who apparently is witholding some knowledge about herself from Effie, finds her mother's inability to notice something funny and roasts poor Effie via haiku before imploring her to check out her muscles.

Effie discovers that her daughter is a bit of a musclehead too, but doesn't know why. Mitama insinuates that it's genetic and that she has a personal desire to be strong so that she can protect her mom.

Mitama basically comes full circle. I don't want to just go home and sleep (which may break character some...) but I want to go home and get on my Total Gym. This inspires Effie to coach her daughter in nutrition to assist her training.

Bufftama. Brains -and- Brawns bois.

Kiragi (Mother: Camilla)

Spoiler

As funny as having Camilla patronize Takumi because he's going to eventually get over hating her Nohrian guts because she's FIOOOOONE all the way to the S support is. ...Don't do this or marry her to Ryoma. ...well, okay, you can marry her off to Takumi if you want...but I'm warning...this conversation is one of those weird ones.

Kiragi sees a picture of a mountain and has an immediate desire to go out to the woods after seeing it. Typical Kiragi stuff. Camilla obliges - after the bandits are gone - and even offers to bring Takumi along, which pleases her son. Festival for the Children, he can have whatever he wants today, yadayada. Kiragi responds by giving his mom a hug and Camilla reciprocates specifically by patting Kiragi's head and saying "there there."

Kiragi then asks his mother if she would really do ANYTHING for him today...which she again affirms. This is where things get weird.

The kid then says he wants to say "there there" and pat Camilla's head too, which confuses Camilla. He then says he wants to do that for hours and asks his mother if that's a bad thing, having now fully caught Camilla off-guard. It gets worse, as Kiragi seems to mimic his mother's aggressive, blood-lust, momma bear behavior before noticing a scratch on Camilla's head. He then threatens to kill all the bandits. Just for her.

Camilla broke this kid. So much so that Camilla herself is creeped out by it. She gets Kiragi to stop petting her (and plays off her discomfort) by saying Takumi might get jealous. Smooth move madam.

Kiragi then suggests that the both of them pat Takumi's head instead, which Camilla finds amusing and promises to spoil Takumi rotten with it. Poor Pineapple.
