[GAME OVER] Shining Bright: Survivor

Bazaro

Recommended Posts

Welcome, mortals, to our celestial battlefield! Over the next several days, the very stars themselves shall fight for survival. The God of Gods, Zeus, has appointed me his messenger and announcer for this spectacle. If there are any general questions on the matter, please ask. You may ask in this thread, or PM me here on the Forums, or on Discord (@Bazaro#5052). Speaking of Discord, why not check out the Reborn Mafia Discord chat? https://discord.gg/ccc2tjE

So just what is Mafia?

Ha! Who cares amirite? This ain't Mafia, it's Survivor. It's close enough. Kinda.

So Survivor is like King of the Hill. Everyone aims to be the last player standing, using whatever they may at their disposal. Similarly to Mafia, the game will be divided into alternating Day and Night Phases. During the Day, players may speak openly, and try to convince others to lynch a suspected opponent. During the Night, all open conversation stops, and you can use your sneaky abilities on other unsuspecting players. Just don't die. Too easy, right?

What makes this game so special?

Like I mentioned above, there are no Town or Mafia groups in this game. In fact, there are no factions at all! Way to be a killjoy, Bazaro.

Each and every player in this combat zone is their own entity, fighting for survival among the celestial sphere. That's not to dissuade cooperation, it can be a very powerful weapon in defeating your foes!

Typically, game actions are "kill or not kill." Here, each and every player will have Hit Points (HP) When your HP hits 0, you die and are removed from the game. Each role has different HP tied to their character. More on that below. The last player standing is the only player who gets to win! Defeat all of your foes and be the champion!

During the Day, players can try to hunt down a randomized target to make the next Night phase easier for them.

Additionally to protect themselves from harm, players will be given the option each night to Guard themselves, protecting them from an enemy Attack each night! But while Guarding, you can't Attack, so choose wisely!

Why are the stars killing each other, you may ask? Well.........

For millennia, the Gods have watched over the Earth from high above. They have produced countless miracles in their times, sometimes as a gift to the mortals, other times as a harsh lesson. Years passed, and the Gods grew weary of their own existence. The mortals who once showered them with gifts and affection seem to have forgotten about the many deeds the Gods have done, reducing them to little more than storybook characters. It was then that Zeus, the God of Gods, looked up and had an idea.

It had been countless centuries since Zeus had immortalized or banished so many powerful beings to the stars. Legendary heroes, horrifying monsters, common spirits who had received the Gods' attention. Whenever the mortals looked up, it was not to the Gods, but to the stars. His powers weakening, Zeus knew that it would not be long until he was completely forgotten. So he planned to immortalize himself in the stars for all mortals to see forever more.

However, the heavens were too crowded. There would be no space for the mortals below to recognize the God of Gods, he thought. There are many more iconic figures in the sky. They will have to go. Zeus remembered how brave these powerful beings were to earn their places in the stars, so he took pity on them. He chose some of the most well-known constellations and gave them the chance to fight for their right to immortality once more. Several agreed, in honor of the God who placed them there in the first place. Others were skeptical, but knew better than to argue with him. The victorious constellation shall receive the honor of sharing the open sky with Zeus himself.

So it was decided...

Without further ado, please welcome our Constellar Combatants!

Here are the rules of the battleground. Even war has rules, you know!

  • Each Night, every player has one action. They may choose to either:
    • Visit another player and Attack them. They can only choose this option if their role has an Attack action.
    • Guard themselves. Guarding protects the user from all damage taken from the first player to Attack you this Night. Guarding has high priority, as it is always first.
    • Do nothing. I can't say I recommend this option, but it's available nonetheless.
  • Few roles have Abilities, which may also be used each Night, but do not count as Night Actions.
  • At the beginning of each Day, I will randomly select one of the surviving roles. At the end of the Day, all players who voted for that role will receive a 1 damage Shield the following Night that protects the player from damage. The Shield is increased to 2 if that player gets Lynched. Think of it as extra Health.
  • Each Day, players will vote on another player they want to be Lynched. After relatively 48 hours have passed, the Day will end and the player with the most votes will be Lynched. If there is a tie in votes, no one will be Lynched. Abstaining from voting is permitted.
  • The player who gets Lynched takes 2 damage and has their role announced for all to see, even if this does not kill them.
  • After the Lynch, the game moves into Night Phase. At this point, the order for all roles that have an Attack action will be randomized. All Attack actions performed that Night will be performed in that order. This happens every Night.
  • Players may not willingly visit themselves. That's just weird.
  • At the end of each Night phase, players will be informed:
- If their Attack action was successful.
- The player's remaining HP and Shield.
- If their Guard was broken or not.
- If they were Poisoned.
- If they were turned into the Phoenix.
- If they died.
  • Remember; No news is usually good news!
  • This game will start on Night 0.

  • Yes, Forum Rules still apply.
  • There are no factions or behind-the-scenes chat groups. All game-related conversation will take place in this Forum thread, or in Private Messages with only me.
  • Rules may be added or amended. I will make sure everyone knows if this occurs.

From high above Olympus, Zeus looked out across the mortal world, the very one he had frequently visited. Had ruled. Now, they had all but forgotten him. He would have to remind them.

"Apollo," Zeus called out, "cover the sun, if you will. The whole world must see this spectacle!" Apollo heeled the horses that dragged the chariot around the planet, then covered the sphere of light with a dark cloth. To half of the world, the sun was already hidden, so that went unnoticed. To the rest, all heads turned upwards as the skies went black. With a mighty wave of his hand, every cloud vanished from sight. The only thing the mortals could see when they looked up would be the stars. The world came to a halt, as every human paused in awe of what was to come. Zeus could not be prouder of himself.

"Now, let the festivities begin!"

The stars danced throughout the night sky. Occasionally, the stars would violently collide with one another, creating bright flashes akin to fireworks. The world below simply stared in awe.

"That will be all for now." Zeus nodded to Apollo, who returned the Sun to its normal cycle. "Allow the humans some time to comprehend this spectacle. Now, about that one troublemaker..."
