[IC] TotMV:G^2: Clash of Fate: Breaking the Siege(again)

StormLord

Recommended Posts

As the party lingered inside, making plans and preparing for the upcoming fights, darkness gathered around the castle.  Where once all had been routed or killed, there were again enemy forces laying siege to the castle.

When they passed through the gates the group found what they expected, a horde of mindless skeletal warriors, what they didn’t expect was three large and horrific beasts cresting the hill, each walking on four long twisted limbs and with faces seemingly made of teeth.  Shadows past over the battlefield, announcing the presence of more dark beings, this time with two large wings, twisted limbs dangling below, and a similar visage of teeth.

Lexiel's aura pulses faintly, giving +1 initiative to herself, Jade, and Halley!

She casts Increasing Devotion, placing a Soldier to block for Jade.  The soldier has 1 HP, no resistance, and will defend Jade by body-blocking attacks as best he can while counterattacking for [syn] damage.

"Stick close to cover and watch each other's backs," The angel orders the group.  She has passed Sachi the extra healing bauble before the battle commenced.  "Focus fire on the dragon teeth beasts and the officers first!  Then the mouth creatures, and then the skeletons!  We kill their leaders and best attackers fast, and then work our way down.  Let's go!"

"Oh boy, we're back in business, eh? As you say, Lexiel!" Liliya immediately, almost in anticipation of the first motion towards conflict, broke into a dash towards one of the officers.

Liliya uses a basic attack on Officer A 3d6+DEX damage, with a DEX% chance to crit for 2x damage. Damage is unholy.

Halley stretched after sitting around plainly waiting for the next wave. She was all pepped up again for more, preferably sensible slaughter.

Her blaster's aim lined up with an officer's head.

Action: Blaster - Paralyzer on Officer B, applying a status effect that lowers their STR, RES, and DEX by [SYN]/2 = 3 for three turns. [DEX]*2 = 14% chance to move first (Lightspeed Justice Delivery). [Two-turn cooldown]

Venus

...Again? The artist thought, though it seemed there was no exceptional target unlike the previous battle, with newer swarms of fanged beasts in its place. Grotesque all the same -- but Venus was to rectify that soon. Very soon.

Our performance begins.

Venus composes his introductory entrance to the fight, unleashing Curtain Call at Officer A (ignores 4 + 1 per 4 SYN RES = 4 +3, deals Basic Attack Damage + Quaternary Art and Bauble bonus damage, = 2d4 + 13 + 4 + 3= 2d4 +20. If Venus kills the target, be gains 1 + 1 per 4 SYN bonus damage for the remainder of the match.)

Every Moment Matters: A perceptive and fastidious marksman, Venus ignores his enemies’ resistance by his INT divided by 4.
Artistic Precision: Venus gains a 2*INT chance for all of his abilities to critically strike for *2 damage.

Action taken: Curtain Call: Venus fires a shot that ignores 4+ 1 per 4 SYN resistance. If Venus successfully kills his target, he gains 1 + 1 per 4 SYN damage.

Solomon simply pointed at the woman who was recklessly charging towards the nearest enemy officer while he mumbled out something that was vaguely magical at her in the hopes that it would be enough to cast his classic "Actively fuck with the future" spell...mostly because he couldn't really be bothered to make that much of an effort to try and you know, do things with a progressively worse headache.

Hiroki looked about at the combat, trying to steel herself for fighting the people there. At least most of her targets this time seemed to be inhuman. . . Best not to spend too long looking at them. Her cannons roared to life, and sent a prodigious amount of plasma hurtling in the direction of their enemies.

"Get behind me!"

Sachi yells as she heads forward to protect her allies. Hopefully she wouldn't have to fight too much, as long as she did what she could.

Tower Stance on Venus, Hiroki and Liliya

Tower Stance: Redirect half of the damage taken by protected allies to Sachi before RES is calculated for either.

All protected allies gain 20% extra damage on their next attack due to Stand United. All enemies who hit targets with Tower Stance have the debuff Bonds of Friendship applied (when attacked by Sachi's allies,  consume the debuff to return 10% of the damage dealt by the ally as health capped at 10% of Sachi's maximum health (8).)

Sachi regains 10% of her maximum health per turn and Con/4 health due to the bauble (total: 10 health).

Round 1

Liliya catches the Officer in the side with her knife, dealing 12 damage.

The Beasts split up and jump at the party from both sides, one attacks Liliya for 16 damage, another two attack Halley one for 12 damage while the other leaves a wound that gushes blood, the last two jump at Jade and Laver leaving bloody wounds.

One of the flying monstrosities swoops down and rakes its limbs across Hiroki’s Mech, this has little effect beyond maybe cosmetic damage.

Sachi jumps forward to protect her allies.

The other flying monster attacks the creature of light, swiping at Lexiel for 8 damage.

Halley sends a blast of paralyzing energy at one of the Officers, they seem much more friendly now.  Halley takes 5 damage from “blood”loss.

The first Officer sends a bolt of lightning at Hiroki, it clips Sachi as it flies past, once divided between two targets the current isn’t enough to do anything but jolt either of them.

Lexiel summons a soldier who stands guard over Jade.

The final flying creature swoops down at Jade just in time for Lexiel’s summon to step in the way, taking the blow and delivering a counterattack for 7 damage before they die.

One of the ground creatures plants a long slender leg into Jade’s shoulder for 10 damage.

The next walking monster stabs at Sachi only to have her knock its attack out of the way with relative ease.

The third walking monster strikes at the book mage, dealing 11 damage as it catches Solomon in the arm.

The first group of archers begins pelting the wall with arrows, this means little for the party but the soldiers on the wall aren’t happy.

The second group of archers fire a rain of arrows in Jade and Laver’s direction, dealing 11 and 12 damage to Jade, and 10, 6, and 8 damage to Laver.

Within the blink of an eye Jade pulls out his pistol, aims it at the Officer, and shoots, critting for 43 damage, leaving a large bullet wound in the man’s torso, he probably hit several important things.  Jade bleeds for 5 damage.

The(now wounded) second Officer send a small ball of fire at Liliya, dealing 2 damage to her and 0 damage to Sachi.  Liliya catches on fire.

Venus takes a shot at the first Officer, dealing 25 damage, the Bond on this Officer is consumed healing Venus for 2 HP.

The skeletal warriors march forward, two strike at Venus and three at Sachi, they deal 4 and 6 damage to Venus, and 0, 0, 1, 1, and 4 damage to Sachi.

Laver fiddles with his weapon, gaining a bonus to his next attack.

Solomon messes with the future, improving Liliya’s capabilities for a time.

Hiroki rains burning plasma down on the enemies, dealing 15 damage to each of the Lehmus, 16 to each of the Bel Lehmus, 6 to Officer A, 9 to Officer B, 11 to the DT Soldiers A, 11 to DT Archers A and B, and 14 to the DT Beasts A.  This consumes three Bonds, one from each Officer and one from the DT Soldiers, healing Hiroki by 3.

The forces of Asterlux return fire on DT Archers A, dealing 19 and 19 damage to them, one Archer crumbles.  They also fire on Bel Lehmus A and B,  dealing 21 and 22 damage.

"Keep it up!  Don't lose focus!  Get this guy first!"  Lexiel shouts, pointing at Officer A.  Both officers are priority targets, but the faster one is more dangerous.  Her aura pulses yellow, healing Jade, Laver, and Liliya for 6 HP apiece, as she moves a glowing orange rune over her left knuckles.  With a few quick flaps of her wings she rises over the battlefield, and plummets like a missile towards Officer A, left arm drawn back for a punch.  She thrusts her fist forward, through the rune, and as it passes through the gold and black plates of the Doomfist gauntlet slam into place around it, crackling with red energy.

Lexiel casts Summon Doomfist, and strikes Officer A with a Rocket Punch, dealing 2d4 + 11 damage.  Lexiel is now suffering from a -2 weight penalty, as the Doomfist is a bit heavy for her at the moment (this lowers her initiative and opposed check results by 2).

"I hear ya, but I've got an opening on the beasts, and with their slicing last turn, I'm not passing this up!" Liliya replied to the angel's command. It wasn't disobedience, at least in her mind, simply performing where she did best, and could hurt the enemy the most.

Liliya uses Punishment on the DT Beasts. Deals a basic attack (3d6+DEX) with DEX% chance to crit, doubled if the enemy inflicted a status on the previous turn.

This attack deals 2d6 + SYNx3+ INTx3; this ability has a four round cooldown period.

Round 2

Laver rushes over to Jade and quickly strums his Heartstrings to restore 23 HP.

Laver bleeds for 5 damage.

Liliya doubles back to the beasts,(13 Crit!) her unholy blade slicing, ripping, and tearing through her enemies like they were paper, after dealing 124 damage little more than dust remains of four of the beasts.  Liliya continues to smolder, but it doesn’t bother her much.

The last beast meanwhile was saved from Liliya’s massacre due to being busy attacking Hiroki and leaving large bleeding wounds.

The first of the flying beasts swoops down at slashes at Jade for 8 damage.

Sachi holds her stance and reinforces her guard, her regeneration heals what few scratches she’d gotten.

Halley blasts the last beast and two of the dark monsters with distracting energy that seems to weaken them.  This deals 4 damage to the beast, and 6 damage to each of the Lahmus.  She bleeds for 5 pure damage.

The second of the flying beasts swoops at Halley, dealing 18 damage as it’s long claws tear through her skin.

One of the Officers shouts something in a foreign tongue and points at Sachi, several warriors turn their attention in her direction, he speaks again and magic washes over the skeletal warriors.

Lexiel flies up then slams Doomfist-first into Officer A, dealing 8 damage and throwing him backward.  Her aura causes some minor wounds to heal on Laver, Jade, and Liliya, restoring 6 HP each.

The last flying monster slashes at Lexiel as she recovers from her dive, dealing 6 damage.

One of the ground monsters approaches Liliya, it doesn’t seem to attack her though, instead it bites and claws at the air in front of and around her.  The wicked jaws of the creature gnashed and snapped, but never came close enough to actually touch Liliya, once the ordeal was over she was left feeling weakened.

The second of these monsters wandered over to the wall and started harassing the Asterlux defenders.

The third monster turns it’s attention to Jade, stabbing him in the side for 11 damage.

One of the groups of Archers turns toward Venus, Halley, and Solomon, knocking and firing arrows at all three, they deal 4 and 4 damage to Venus, 11 damage to Halley, and 11 damage to  Solomon.  The Archers gain two Bonds.

After some shouting from one of the Officers the second group of Archers focuses fire, all turning to Hiroki before firing, all of the arrows either miss or bounce off Hiroki’s mech.

This group of Archers gain five Bonds.

Jade fires again at the Officer, this time dealing 22 damage as the bullet impacts their leg.

Jade bleeds for 5 damage.

Officer B responded by throwing a chunk of sharpened ice at Jade, it deals 12 damage, it slows him a bit but not to much.

Venus follows Jade’s example and hits the same Officer with another bullet, dealing 27 damage, regaining 7 HP, and killing Officer B.

The Skeletal warriors charged forward, viciously attacking Sachi, they managed to deal 3, 2, 4, 2, and 4 damage.  Pitiful.

Solomon follows Lexiel’s lead and attacks Officer A with another needlessly large fist.  Only this time it’s made of books.  He deals 66 damage to the Officer.

Hiroki sends a burst of cannon fire at Officer A, thoroughly blowing him away.

Hiroki bleeds for 5 damage.

A single fireball and two barrages of arrows come flying off the Asterlux wall, the fireball lands on DT Archers A, dealing a total of 85 damage, the arrows impact with Lahmu B dealing 18 and 13 damage to it.

Hoarse and rattling howls can be heard in the distance as several (5)DT Beasts join the battle.

Current action: Basic Attack with the Crude Cult-like Spear (1d8+Syn+[2d6 Pure])

Target: DT Archers B if they are not dead, DT Beasts B if DT Archers B are dead

After realizing that his plan of "Just shoot anything that looks hostile and moves" seemed to be working quite well, Solomon would open fire on the Dragon's tooth creatures as it seemed to be a good idea to prevent the enemy from amassing their forces too much.

"Well that was pretty fuckin weird." Liliya murmured, slightly unsteady on her feet. She wasn't sure what the beast had done, but it was definitely. . .odd. She'd have to pay attention, to make sure that this weakness didn't get worse with time.

Liliya uses a basic attack on Bel Lahmu A 3d6+DEX damage, with a DEX% chance to crit for 2x damage. Damage is unholy.

Spoiler

HP: 58
Init: 13+1d20

Stats:
Constitution: 3
Resistance: 2+4 (+8)
Dexterity: 11+2 (+8)
Intelligence: 0
Strength: 3
Synergy: 7

See the future: Liliya has the capacity to see a few seconds into the future when she is in danger, and use that knowledge to save herself. Every 2(?) turns, Liliya has the option to forfeit her action in order to dodge enemy attack (s?). Does not dodge AOE type attacks.
Pursuit: When Liliya is unable to attack an enemy, whether through a stun or an enemy dodge or through "See the Future", her next attack will do 1.5x damage.
Overdrive: When Liliya is reduced to less than 1/3 MHP, her DEX, RES, and Init are raised by (Level+1) until her HP is raised above this point.

Poisonable(Flaw): Liliya is more sensitive to toxic compounds than others. She takes 2x damage from poison status.

Even with aid from his allies the enemies' relentless attacks render them mute. It seems it's highly likely he'll come out of this battle with some scars if he hasn't gotten some already. Even still he must push forward, so he takes aim at one of the beasts and fires a bullet straight for their forehead.

Aim to Kill (Basic Attack) on DT Beast A (If A is dead target DT Beasts B) for 3d6+13 damage, 18% Crit Chance, 16% Dodge Chance

Halley's visions went blurring with static. "This... This can't be it... " She mustered the strength to look at her surroundings. The gunslinger was in about as much peril as she was, yet he was still putting up a fight, so she couldn't just let up so easily, right?

She open fired at the sole Dragon Tooth Beast that she had suppressed.

Action: Blaster - Splendid Star (Basic Attack) on DT Beast A for 1d8 + [SYN] = 1d8 + 6 (+1d4 for every 4 DEX advantage) damage.

Active Cooldowns:

Blaster - Paralyzer (Ready next turn)
Blaster - Sparkling Suppressor (One turn left)
