Gym leader ideas

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of custom gym leaders to share. 

 

I have one: A dark type Mafia leader named Frank. His gym trainers are secretly part of his gang. One of his gang members tells him not to give you the badge, but he still does.

How about a fairy gym leader that is a wandering storyteller? he doesn have a physical gym (or rarely goes there) so you have to find him

This gym exists in a theme park, hidden behind two impressive gates. One gate sparkles silver with hope and awe, while a shady and derelict gate sits beyond it. To proceed, a challenger must find their way through two separate sections of the park: a haunted house, and a brilliant castle. After making their way through a section, they are greeted with a trainer. Besting this trainer rewards the challenger with a key matching the respective gate. However, a challenger is limited to only one section. Another challenger must go through the remaining section so they can both proceed to the leaders.

Once both keys are acquired, both gates can be opened, and the challenger may battle the leaders: the Fairy-type Leader, "Prince Charming" Arthur, and the Ghost-type Leader, "Wicked Witch" Sucy at once. It is required that another challenger is present to take them on. Their Aces are Clefable and Mismagius, respectively. Once beaten, both challengers acquire two badges: the Charm badge, and the Cauldron badge.

Ooooh, I have a few in mind that I've been saving for an upcoming project.

 

Consider a Steel type leader who is an amputee, and their prosthetics are made from steel. Or get this: a Water type leader who has extreme hydrophobia, and only uses land based Water types (like Bibarel or Vaporeon). Finally, a Fairy type leader who isn't the typical girly/mystical type, and is a powerlifting butch type girl whose ace is an equally butch Granbull.

I had a whole league done. two of them in fact lol, for different game ideas.

 

To name a few

 

A normal type gym leader named Mimi(derived from mimic)who was a young actress and a master of disguise. You first meet her outside her gym travelling incognito being hounded by paparazzi who you help get rid of, and in return she invites you to the gym, which is an old theater. You fight stagehands and trainers backstage till you work your way front stage where you're challenged by the champion who prefaces the match with a dramatic speech. As the champ finishes speaking, they then start giggling and it turns out to be mimi in disguise just messing with you. mimi challenges you for real. Her ace is imposter ditto and she also uses chatot, kecleon, castform, jigglypuff, and Smeargle. She's fond of the moves mimic and copycat.

 

a psychic type leader named Simon(from Psy) who is a toddler and the youngest gym leader in the league, just a little under 2 years old. Simon's status as gym leader was passed from his mother, who was a powerful psychic. however, she died during childbirth as her overuse of psychic abilities made her physically frail. She passed her battle knowledge and memories through her own psychic pokemon, who then passed those to Simon so that he would inherit the title as gym leader. Despite being a toddler, Simon is highly intelligent for his age though he must communicate telepathically.

Simon's gym would be styled like a nursery where he lies in a sort of hi-tech crib in the center surrounded by mental amplifying machinery. Many soft beds surround the gym and a staff of nurses tend the gym Challengers are put into the bed by nurses and then put to sleep via hypnosis from drowzees and munna. The nurses moniter the trainers in bed while the trainers' consciousness(as well as their pokemon) is pulled into a brightly colored psychedelic dreamworld, a part of which simon controls himself. You can even catch a few pokemon here though you need dream balls to do so. After fighting through other trainers and transversing the trippy dreamworld you find simon being held in the arms by an avatar of his mother,created by the memories he inherited from her. She will then challenge you to battle, with Musharna being her ace. She also has Mr.Mime, Bruxish, inkay, hypno, and Kadabra. She likes to use sleep effects/attacks, screens and recovery moves.

Here's a nice custom gym leader:

 

The gym leader "Phantom" His real identity is unknown to the league as he took the gym registration with the fake name. His gym is open to the public during the day, however he doesn't maintain the challenge requests. Instead during the night is when he strikes. If he's able to spot his challengers from the shadows he'll openly fight them on the spot in city public streets.

 

A gym leader who stalks his challengers during the night, when they are defenseless and unaware of his strategy. Being a dark type gym leader it's only natural that he prefers to fight in the comforting darkness of the night. In more specific terms: He's not the target, You are.

I have this idea where gym leader itself is a pokemon from human-like egg group. Arena is a natural place like garden, beach or countryside or whatever, and its pokemons are found in the natural place, not been caught in the pokeballs. And of course the champion's ace pokemon is itself

I've always been interested in gym leaders who specialize in something other than types, like an animal specialist. There is sort of a precedent for this in the games, as Winona specializes in flying types that are birds. In Reborn you have Bennett who specializes in Lepidoptera, that is, moths and butterflies. Reborn also has that clown who does color teams, which is also an interesting idea. 

 

Now some of these could be type specialists as well (like Winona and Bennett), like a fish specialist would probably have all water pokemon, or a paleontologist would have fossil pokemon. Ones that wouldn't be type specific would be bears, mice or rodents, reptiles, dogs, cats, and possibly weasels/mongooses as well, or colors. 

 

And rather than doing it with gym leaders, you could do something like this with rivals or the elite 4 instead, which has the potential to make them more difficult and more distinctive.
